Abstract: A liquid tank includes a tank body forming a reservoir for gasoline G, a flexible partition film 1 arranged in the tank body 1 to divide a space in the tank body into two vertical spaces, a float positioned on the gasoline G, an arm 3 for converting a high and low position of the float 3 into a rotational position of the arm 5, and a potentiometer 5 for detecting a position of the flexible partition film. Since the gasoline G is covered with the partition film, the gasoline G does not vaporize into the air in the tank body an. Even if the gasoline surface is slanted to the tank body an by an acceleration of the vehicle, the flexible partition film serves to restrict the inclination of the surface. Therefore, it is possible to precisely a residual amounts of the gasoline G irrespective of the inclination.

Abstract: In a remaining fuel amount measuring apparatus for a fuel tank which is suited to the fuel tank designed to suppress generation of fuel vapor, a CPU actuates a piston to supply a prescribed amount of air into a pressure adjusting chamber, thereby increasing the pressure within the pressure adjusting chamber. From the Boyle's law, the increasing rate of air before air supply is inversely proportional to the volume V of the pressure adjusting chamber. Therefore, the CPU, referring to the pressure within the pressure adjusting chamber before and after the air supply, acquires the volume V of the pressure adjusting chamber, and subtracts the volume V of the pressure adjusting chamber from the internal volume of a tank body to acquire the volume of a fuel chamber, i.e. remaining fuel amount.

Abstract: The object of the present invention is to eliminate a double image of a display apparatus for automobiles in which an image of displayer is reflected by a transparent reflection plate toward a driver's seat so that the display image for displaying information on the condition of the vehicle such as vehicle speed can be seen as a virtual image. A display apparatus for automobiles according to the present invention comprising: a displayer for emitting display light; a reflection plate having a first surface on a driver's seat side and a second surface on a side opposite to the driver's seat, the display light diagonally falling on the first surface and being reflected on the first surface to be directed to an eye range, a display image of the displayer being recognized from the driver's seat side within a display range on the first surface, at least a portion of the second surface corresponding to the display range of the first surface being diagonally disposed in relation to the first surface.

Abstract: A display apparatus has a first image emitting unit reflecting external light and a second image emitting unit emitting a second image towards the first image emitting unit. The second image is reflected by the first image emitting unit substantially in the same direction as the first image is emitted from the first image emitting unit. A reflection member reflects the first and second images in a predetermined direction, for example, towards a viewpoint of driver in case of application for automobiles. The reflected images may be observed as a superimposed virtual image. The superimposed virtual image is easy for an observer to focus thereon, resulting in high visibility of displayed image.

Abstract: An object of this invention is to provide a vehicle's display system in which the display surface of a display unit set deep in an opening structure of the instrument panel is prevented from being directly seen obliquely of the display window from side. In a vehicle's display system, a light control film (LCF) 7 is bonded to a half mirror 12 to cover its predetermined portion which spreads upwardly from the line thereof which is closest to the display surface of a display unit, to regulate light transmitting through the film obliquely from side.

Abstract: There is disclosed an indication display unit for a vehicle which comprises a plurality of indicators including those for remote display as well, and a reflecting plate formed with a plurality of reflective surfaces and mounted on a dashboard. By use of the indication display unit described above, respective images indicated on the plurality of indicators are reflected on the plurality of reflective surfaces as to be visibly observed forwardly of the reflecting plate by a driver without interference with the driver's visual field.

Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a displaying apparatus for a vehicle which assures that a displayed image for displaying informations on the present running state of the vehicle such as a running speed or the like in the form of a virtual image by reflecting the displayed image on the displaying unit to an eye range on the driver's seat with the aid of a first reflective plate, and its object resides in providing a displaying apparatus of the foregoing type which assures that quality of the displayed image can be improved with inexpensive construction, and moreover, visual recognizability of the displaying apparatus can be improved (with improved optical contrast).

Abstract: This invention relates to an indicating instrument for a vehicle or the like in which a pointer-indicated driving condition such as vehicle speed and rotation speed of an engine is formed by light, and to an indicating instrument system having the above indicating instruments. The structure of the indicating instrument is that a front surface having graduations is spherical such that the front surface sticks out forwardly as it is far from the rotation shaft and a light source is disposed in front of the dial and out of the graduations. Further, the indicating instrument system of the present invention indicates a cylindrical lens for converting beam from a point light source to a substantially linear beam; first and second reflecting plates for dividing the substantially linear beam into divided beam; and third and fourth reflecting plates for reflecting the divided beams each to a dial as a pointer indicating the graduations on the dial to a plurality of pointer forming portions.

Abstract: An indication display unit which includes an LC board as its reflector, by the reflector's changing of its transmissivity, the reflected image thereon projected from an indication projector and other images, such as an image directly exposed from an indicator located behind the LC board or the image generated by itself, can be respectively selected to be reflected therefrom. Accordingly, with the indication display of this invention, the clarity of the displayed image can be greatly improved, and simultaneous display of various indications can be achieved.

Abstract: A pointer for use in an instrument panel, such as a speedometer, in a vehicle. According to one embodiment, the pointer includes a conically shaped pointer body to which a pointer base is secured. A light source is disposed within the pointer base and a slit is provided in the body. The inner surface of the pointer body is reflective such that light directed from the light source is reflected off of the reflective surface and through the slit. In another embodiment the light source is disposed externally of the pointer and a reflecting member is provided in the pointer for reflecting the light towards the distal end of the conical body. The reflecting member can include a reflecting mirror or, alternatively, a prism.

A display device for a vehicle comprises a dial and an indicating board laid on the dial. The dial includes a disk-shaped light transmitting portion, light transmitting characters and graduations outside the light transmitting portion, and an annular light transmitting portion outside the characters and the graduations The indicating board includes a light transmitting pointer's inner end portion and a light transmitting pointer's outer end portion which overlap the light transmitting portions of the dial, respectively, and an annular light transmitting portion which is laid over the characters and the graduations.

Abstract: A display device of the reflection type for a vehicle wherein an analog meter can be used to effect analog display and which, while remote indication is effected making use of a reflecting face of a reflecting element, is compact in overall size and has a long distance for the remote indication. The display device comprises a display unit, a reflecting member having a spherical reflecting face directed to a display face of the display unit, and a light transmitting reflecting element disposed between the display unit and the reflecting member and having a reflecting face through which display light from the display unit is transmitted.

Abstract: A prism-type pointer is provided adjacent to a front face of a prism-type dial plate in such a manner that their prism apex angles are directed in opposite directions, respectively. Those portions of the dial plate having characters/scale markings or the like are recessed, and a light source is provided at a back side of the dial plate. A pointer drive portion is provided on a bottom surface of the dial plate so as to effect a parallel movement of the pointer. Light of the light source, passed through both of the dial plate and the pointer can reach a driver's eye point, and light, passed only through the dial plate, can not reach the driver's eye point, except for those portions thereof having the characters/scale markings or the like.

Pointers of indicators are formed respectively by light transmitting slits provided respectively on disks. The disks are rotatably mounted in a laminated manner on a shaft concentric with these disks, and the disks are angularly moved respectively by drive sources in accordance with respective measured amounts.

Abstract: The prism reflector installed immediately above an indicator's display surface consists of a prism and a flange portion that is flush with one surface of the prism and which extends from the periphery of that surface. The surface of the prism and the flange portion form a reflecting surface. A reflector plate is arranged to face the reflecting surface of the prism reflector and has a concave surface, whose light axis is inclined with respect to the reflecting surface of the prism reflector toward the thicker side of the prism. Light from the indicator's display enters the prism, is refracted as it leaves the reflecting surface, and travels toward the reflector plate's concave surface, which reflects the incident light back toward the reflecting surface of the prism reflector, which then reflects it toward the driver's viewing point.

Abstract: Various indication display units, for vehicles provided with a head-up display including an indication projector with a display device at the ceiling of a vehicle and a reflecting device forwardly of a driver seat, have been introduced so far due to the fact that there are increasing requirements for space for the installation of many kinds of indicators in vehicles. The problem remains that the displayed image on the reflecting device can hardly be seen on the indication display unit of the conventional type when external strong rays of light are radiated to the above reflecting surface from outside the vehicle through the windshield, and a part of the ceiling reflected on the reflecting device together with the indicating image projected from the projector also causes a bad effect to the displayed image when the vehicle is illuminated by another vehicle following there behind.

Abstract: An indication display unit for vehicles of this invention is provided with a head-up display (HUD), an indication projector, a display device located at the ceiling of the vehicle, and a reflector forwardly located relative to a driver's seat. The indication display unit of this invention further includes a shifting mechanism for the reflector so that when the vehicle speed decreases lower than a predetermined low speed limit, the reflector can be completely shifted away from the driver's visual field. The shifting of the reflector can be accomplished by having the reflector shift in a vertical direction or just outside, but near the driver's visual field, in a horizontal direction.

Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a display apparatus for a vehicle in which luminance of the display pattern of letters, graduations, a pointer, and the like are increased without unevenness in the luminance but also the distance between a front face of a pointer plate and a rear face of the movement of the display apparatus is shortened. A circular pointer plate with a transmitting slit is disposed on front a portion of the display apparatus. An outer periphery of the pointer plate is toothed and is engaged with a driving gear fixed to a driving shaft of the movement to be directly driven by the movement. A dial is disposed on a back face of the pointer plate. A portion where the dial overlaps the pointer plate, and other portion for graduations and the like which surrounds the portion are formed as light transmitting portion, but, other portions are formed as light intercepting portion. Behind the pointer plate is installed a discharge lamp with a reflector.

A display apparatus for automobiles according to the present invention includes an indicator, a reflection member having a reflection surface which opposes a display surface of the indicator and a light transmissible reflection member arranged between the indicator and the reflection member. The light transmissible reflecting member transmits display light of the indicator and reflects reflected light from the reflection member to a driver's side. A meter hood extends to the driver's side of the reflection member. A shading portion extends below the reflection surface of the reflection member on the meter hood side of the reflection member.

Abstract: An indication display unit for a vehicle according to the present invention comprises an indicator secured to a ceiling in a car room for displaying images indicated thereon, and a reflecting means disposed forwardly of a driver seat and formed with a reflecting surface for reflecting the above indicated image, characterized in that the ratio of the forwardly side length of an indicated pattern on the indicator to the rearwardly side length thereof is settled equal to that of the distance between a predetermined visual position on the driver seat side and the forwardly side length of the indicated pattern to the distance between the visual position and the rearwardly side length of the indicated pattern respectively through the reflective surface therebetween so as to acquire the indicated image without distortion.
