  • Patent number: 9971392
Abstract: Serializers and deserializers for odd ratio parallel data buses are disclosed. In one embodiment, serializers and deserializers operating with an odd number of parallel data bits work with a half-rate clock to provide a serial data stream at a full clock rate. By providing a half-rate clock, power and area are conserved on the integrated circuit incorporating the serializer. Additionally, by providing a 7:1 serializer, the bus is now compatible with the MIPI C-PHY standard.

  • Publication number: 20180120403
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance diffusion weighted imaging method and apparatus, an excitation pulse flips a magnetization intensity vector of nuclear spins, a subject from the Z direction into the X-Y plane; and a diffusion pulse is applied to the magnetization intensity vector flipped into the X-Y plane in order to perform diffusion weighting. A flip pulse is applied to a magnetization intensity vector that does not meet Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill conditions in the X-Y plane after diffusion weighting in order to flip it back to the Z direction. A data acquisition sequence is activated to acquire imaging data from a residual magnetization intensity vector meeting the Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill conditions in the X-Y plane.

  • Publication number: 20180089569
Abstract: A computer-implemented method generates a temporal candidate answer to a question. One or more processors tag terms found in multiple text passages with a part of speech (POS) tag, and then parse POS tagged terms found in the multiple text passages to generate passage triples for multiple parts of each of the multiple text passages. The processor(s) filter each sub-passage from the multiple text passages, which removes passages from each of the multiple text passages that are not associated with said each sub-passage. The processor(s) temporally align each sub-passage triple with a particular time range, and then extract text within each sub-passage from the multiple text passages to create a temporal candidate answer identified by the associated sub-passage triple. Upon receipt of a question related to a sub-passage that is related to the particular time range, the processor(s) return the temporal candidate answer that is temporally aligned with the question.

  • Publication number: 20180089305
Abstract: A computer-implemented method generates a candidate answer triple for use in retrieving information used to answer a question. One or more processors parse a question to identify a lexical answer type for the question, a question action for the question, and a question timestamp for the question to make up a question triple. One or more processors retrieve multiple candidate passages for answering the question, and parse each of the multiple candidate passages to identify a candidate entity, a candidate action, and a candidate timestamp from each of the multiple candidate passages to generate a candidate answer triple. One or more processors compare the question triple to the candidate answer triple and establish a match score for each candidate answer triple, which is used in retrieving information used to answer the question.

  • Patent number: 9921112
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically measuring and storing a various measured values of an item, or a sequence of measured values of one or more item(s) suitable for single-handed use by a user. In particular, the present invention relates to a mobile computing device with one or more sensors for determining when to measure and record a particular value of one or more items. The mobile computing device may automatically measure the values based on sensing a change in the temperature value or through using proximity as detected by one or more onboard sensors. Additionally, the mobile computing device may automatically measure the values based on coming within range of an external proximity device. In response to automatically measuring the values, the measured values are stored along with additional information for record keeping purposes.

  • Publication number: 20170217114
Abstract: Pressure sensors may be used to directly measure the pressure between a green tire and a curing apparatus during shaping and/or during curing. This can be accomplished by a method including the steps of: (A) providing a bladder, a tire mold and, a green tire having a pair of annular beads and one or more plies; (B) mounting a first pressure sensor to an inner surface of the green tire between an overlay and a belt; (C) inserting the green tire into the tire mold and closing the tire mold; (D) shaping the green tire by expanding the bladder within the green tire against the closed tire mold; and, (E) directly measuring the pressure between the overlay and the belt of the green tire during step (D) with the first pressure sensor.

  • Publication number: 20170213288
Abstract: Generally disclosed here are a method, an information handling device, and a program product for managing a personalized investment system, including: obtaining investor information. The investor information may including demographic information, industry information, and historical financial information. Once the investor information is obtained, an embodiment may then analyze the demographic information, industry information, and historical financial information with respect to each other. A further embodiment may then create, based on the analysis, a personalized risk model. Using the personalized risk model, the method, information handling device, and/or program product may perform an action. Other aspects are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20170078965
Abstract: A method and system for using a communication protocol over a low-powered transmission network. The communication system and protocol enables low-powered transmission devices to efficiently and reliably transmit data in challenging environments. The communication system and protocol can reduce power consumption by designating devices as either transmitter devices, repeater devices, and receiving devices, such that not all devices in the network need to be configured to transmit and receive data. Because the communication protocol does not require that all devices need to both transmit and receive data, there is a significant power usage savings relative to traditional mesh networks. Additionally, the present invention implements a combination of time-based diversity and transmission path diversity to more reliably communicate data. Devices in the system can change the manner in which they operate based on the sensor measurements, allowing the devices to intelligently respond to different conditions.

  • Publication number: 20170077907
Abstract: A feed-forward bias circuit biases body bias terminals of transistors of another circuit to compensate for PVT variations in the other circuit. In some aspects, the feed-forward bias circuit compensates for transistor process corners in a circuit by enabling the generation of different bias signals under different corner conditions. In some implementations, the feed-forward bias circuit is used to bias a delay circuit so that the delay circuit exhibits relatively constant delay characteristics over different PVT conditions.

  • Publication number: 20160379120
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for processing a knowledge canvassing request. The mechanisms receive a request specifying an entity of interest from an originator of the request and analyze the request to extract a feature of the request. The mechanisms determine whether the request is a targeted natural language question to be answered or a knowledge canvassing request, based on the extracted feature. In response to determining that the request is a knowledge canvassing request, the mechanisms process the request by identifying entities represented in a knowledge graph data structure as being related to the entity of interest. The mechanisms output results of the processing of the request to the originator of the request.
