  • Patent number: 6872168
Abstract: The present invention relates to a shock absorption structure for a treadmill having two handle frames, a support base, a frame portion and an adjustable supporting foot. A connecting arm has one end pivotably connected to the lower portion of each of both handle frames and the other end pivotably connected to the frame portion. A flexible shock absorption unit is pivotably interposed between an extension member of each handle frame and each connecting arm. Therefore, when the force is applied to the frame portion, both flexible shock absorption units provide proper cushioning effect. Moreover, the flexible shock absorption unit is constructed in such a way that the cushioning force can be freely adjustable so as to enhance the using comfort.

  • Publication number: 20040242376
Abstract: The invention relates to a cushioning unit for an oval-tracked exercise device. A connecting element has one end pivotably attached to the elongated treadle and the other end pivotably attached to the handle bar. A lateral piece parallel to the connecting element is inwardly extended from the bottom end of the handle bars while a cushioning element is mounted on the lateral piece. When the handle bar is moved to the bottommost position, the connecting element presses against the cushioning element for achieving the expected cushioning effect, thereby preventing the operator's feet from shock caused by the reactive force of the elongated treadles.

  • Patent number: 6824503
Abstract: The invention relates to a treading exercise apparatus that includes a crank and a base. The crank is constructed as a first shaft in the middle thereof on which a bearing, a bushing and a resistance flywheel are received so that the crank rotates on a middle post of the base. Meanwhile, both sides of the first shaft are constructed as a correspondingly symmetric U-shaped treadle rod relative to the shaft which a treadle pad is rotatably received for treading movement in alternating succession. The outer side of each of the treadle rods is constructed as a second shaft. The second shafts and the first shaft are coaxially disposed along a horizontal axle line L. Moreover, the second shafts extend through side posts of the base respectively and are rotatably mounted thereon. Since the unbalanced force created by the treading movement on the crank is effectively supported, a stable treading movement can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 6824499
Abstract: The present invention relates to a control console automatically planning a personal exercise program in accordance with the physical condition measured through the whole exercise session. The control console is in connection with a heartbeat detector for any fitness equipment. A microprocessor is fitted within the control console and used to record the related change and the interactive relationship of the heartbeat value under exercise parameters of distance, speed, duration and slope during the whole exercise session whenever the operator uses the electric treadmill. Therefore, the current physical state of the certain operator can be exactly detected so as to automatically plan an optimal exercise program according to the personal physical state. In addition, this program will be saved and used for next time when the operator uses the electric treadmill again. Meanwhile, the current physical condition will be measured again so as to renew another optimal exercise program for the certain operator.

  • Publication number: 20040204295
Abstract: A displacement detector of a platform for an exercise apparatus includes a rope movably tensioned by a rotating element between fixed points on the base and the upright support, respectively. When the platform is forced to move upwardly and downwardly, the rotating element undergoes an in-place rotation by the pulling force of the rope. Thereafter, a means for detecting the rotational displacement of the rotating element, which corresponds to the supporting force of the cushioning elements, is positioned beside the rotating element on the platform. Then, the detected value is transmitted to a microprocessor in the control console.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for diverting static electricity away from a treadmill. The apparatus includes a diverting apparatus, consisting of a conducting piece, a conductive strip and a connection bolt. The diverting apparatus is mounted on the surface of the platform without influencing the smooth rotation of the continuous belt for carrying off the static electricity produced by friction within a walking area of the treadmill by providing a direct grounding path through the connection of the other end of the conductive strip to the ground.

  • Publication number: 20040180756
Abstract: The invention relates to a structure of rocker arms with optical sensing control for an exercise apparatus. The rocker arm of an exercise apparatus includes a handgrip. At least an optical sensor in accordance with the invention is positioned within a finger groove of the handgrip. The finger groove is so constructed that its form corresponds to the finger pad of the finger of an operator. Meanwhile, the finger groove is provided with an aperture in which the optical sensing element is hidden. The optical sensing element is connected to a console of the exercise apparatus through a conducting wire for setting different functions (exercise speed, slope or resistance) by means of effective detection signals. Therefore, the exercise apparatus is operable by means that a finger of both hands is slightly moved at fixed point during the exercise session.

  • Patent number: 6786853
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rear safety foot rest of a treadmill. The treadmill includes a main frame, a running bed, a front support unit and a rear support unit. Moreover, an electronic console and two handles are disposed on the main frame, while a running belt is wrapped around the running bed for an in-place rotation. In addition, the running bed is provided with a support unit coupled with a rear roller while a rear safety foot rest is fixed to the support unit. Consequently, when the tensity and the tightness of the running belt is adjusted by an adjusting spindle, the support unit and the running belt will be synchronically shifted with the rear roller so as to maintain the proper clearance between the rear safety foot rest and the running belt.

  • Publication number: 20040147372
Abstract: The present invention relates to an adjustable cushioning apparatus for a treadmill. A height-adjustable device is mounted on a base portion to work with a transmission assembly of a motor and two lifting elements for adjusting the inclination of the frame portion. Meanwhile, the frame portion has a connecting rods rotatably connected by an axle of the lifting element at each of both outer sides thereof. The other end of the connecting rod is pivotably coupled with an adjustable cushioning apparatus. Thereafter, the application axle of the adjustable cushioning apparatus is pivoted at both sides of the front end of the frame portion, respectively. When weight is placed onto the frame portion, the adjustable cushioning elements are able to provide proper cushioning effect. Moreover, two adjustable cushioning elements are driven by an adjustment motor set. So the operator can preset the cushioning force via the console.

  • Patent number: 6758789
Abstract: The present invention relates to a front supporting rod, a front wheel assembly, a main frame, a deck and a rear wheel assembly. A plate extends at each of two sides of the front end of said main frame while two corresponding plate are disposed at two sides of the upper part of a longitudinal shaft of said front wheel assembly. Moreover, two soft resilient bodies are fixed between two sets of said plates. As a result, when the main frame is inclined to the side by steering the front supporting bar for creating a direction-turning effect to the front wheels, two plates at two sides of the main frame will squeeze or pull the resilient body respectively. After removal of the external force, the main frame, the front supporting bar and the front wheels restore themselves by the resilience of the resilient body.

  • Patent number: 6749542
Abstract: The present invention relates to a treadmill having a base frame with a handrail. The base frame is provided with two rollers at both ends thereof. A support plate is interposed between both rollers. And a walking belt is disposed around the rollers and the support plate. The base frame has a plurality of crossbars in the position of the support plate, and the crossbars is provided with at least one buffer piece in the middle thereof which is in contact with the bottom face of the support plate. A support element has a bottom member on the base frame and a top member fixed on the bottom of the support plate, and both members are pivotably connected, thereby positioning the support plate indirectly on the base frame. Accordingly, the injury of the feet is avoided and the service life of the support plate is prolonged.
