An application view of the application may be provided for display on the client computer based on the one or more selected portions of the application information. One or more application metrics associated with the application and the one or more selected portions of the application information may be collected. The one or more collected application metrics may be provided to the measurement engine.

By improving an interface between a storage system driver layer and associated storage devices, performance of data storage is improved, including improving data storage speed and storage media endurance. Storage media management operations are made more efficient and consistent by providing improved types and sequences of commands sent from the driver layer to the device control layer such that data write operations are performed in a sequential manner as write commands are directed to portions of data as opposed to buffering individual portions of data followed by a large wholescale write/erase process for the buffered data.

Abstract: Techniques for distributed cache management are provided. A server having backend resource includes a global cache and a global cache agent. Individual clients each have client cache agents and client caches. When data items associated with the backend resources are added, modified, or deleted in the client caches, the client cache agents report the changes to the global cache agent. The global cache agent records the changes and notifies the other client cache agents to update a status of the changes within their client caches. When the changes are committed to the backend resource each of the statuses in each of the caches are updated accordingly.
