  • Publication number: 20070091981
Abstract: The present invention provides a reversible thermochromic optical disc capable of forming a pattern thereon by an optical pick-up unit of an optical disc drive. The reversible thermochromic optical disc includes a substrate and a reversible thermochromic dyestuff. The substrate has a label surface. The reversible thermochromic dyestuff coated on the label surface has a hysteresis characteristic upon change of a temperature, and changes between a colored state and a decolored state, wherein the color of the reversible thermochromic dyestuff responds to heat of a laser beam emitted by the optical pick-up unit to form the pattern.

  • Publication number: 20070014964
Abstract: The invention pertains to an optical disc capable of storing the usage status of a label side of the optical disc. The optical disc includes a data side, the label side, and a plurality of partition marks. The data side is configured to read and write data thereon by utilizing an incident laser beam, and the label side is configured to form an image. The label side also has a plurality of partitions defined thereon. The partition marks are arranged on the label side and initially set in a first state. The partition marks are capable of converting from the first state into a second state. Each partition marks corresponds to one of the partitions. When the image is formed on the label side, the partition marks corresponding to the partitions where the image is formed are converted into the second state to indicate the usage status of the label side.

  • Publication number: 20060227206
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for recording an image onto a label layer of an optical disc. The optical disc also includes a data layer thereon that has a pregroove, in which a plurality of predetermined address codes are marked. Firstly, the system locates a first position by retrieving the predetermined address codes marked on the data layer. The system then determines a second position on the label layer in accordance with the first position. Afterward, the system records the image at the second position on the label layer by means of a laser beam or ink-jet printing. Thereby, the image is formed on the label layer of the optical disc.

  • Patent number: 7000310
Abstract: A method for handling workpieces such as hard disk drive sliders during a debonding process uses a fixture having two sets of finger-like projections that are interleaved. The sets are movable relative to each other to space apart the sliders after they are processed from their original row configuration. The post-processing separation is required to properly debond the sliders. The fingers on each set are closely interleaved to reduce the amount of displacement required to adequately separate the sliders for debonding. After the sliders are displaced, they are directly debonded into the inspection trays. This design eliminates the need for manual handling of the workpieces during these phases of manufacturing.

  • Patent number: 6920620
Abstract: In a computer-implemented method and system for creating a test component layout, after creating a reference component layout that is composed of a set of polygonal working shapes, a plurality of shape parameters are defined for the working shapes of the reference component layout, and a parameter template is formed based on the shape parameters of the reference component layout. Thereafter, user-defined distance values corresponding to the shape parameters may be inputted into the parameter template, and the test component layout is automatically created by adjusting geometry of the working shapes of the reference component layout with reference to the user-defined distance values inputted into the parameter template.

  • Publication number: 20050126706
Abstract: Methods of improving the adhesive characteristics of an adhesive resin composition and the use of the adhesive for bonding substrate materials, such as ceramic materials and manufacturing tools, are described. The adhesive composition includes a resist adhesive resin and a solvent having a boiling point in the range of about 30° C. to about 80° C. The methods and the adhesive composition find utility in hard disk drive applications, such as in the manufacture of sliders for hard disk drives.

  • Patent number: 6842711
Abstract: The present invention provides a high precision, low cost laser power calibration system. First, the photo signals output from a standard photo diode are received by a photo calibration system; then a set of standards consisting of the corresponding current signals and the power signals are saved in an EEPROM. Finally, the photo diode to be calibrated can be calibrated using the present system in accordance with the calibration standards.

  • Publication number: 20040208156
Abstract: A method for communication connection via heterogeneous networks. A first electronic device transmits a first data packet to a first wireless bridge. The first wireless bridge attaches a first tunnel header to the first data packet to form a first wireless data packet, and transmits the first wireless data packet via the wireless network. A second wireless bridge receives the first wireless data packet via the wireless network, removing the first tunnel header therefrom to acquire a second data packet, stores an association relationship between the first electronic device and the first wireless bridge, and transmits the second data packet to the second electronic device. The second electronic device receives the second data packet and transmits data to the first electronic device.

  • Patent number: 6487040
Abstract: A magnetic head includes first and second pole tips separated by a nonmagnetic gap layer. The right side walls of the first and second pole tips are vertically aligned. Similarly, the left side walls of the first and second pole tips are vertically aligned. The side fringing flux is substantially reduced resulting in a magnetic head capable of writing data tracks with well defined boundaries. The fabrication of the magnetic head begins with forming a stack of layers on a substrate. The stack of layers includes a nonmagnetic layer sandwiched between the first pole tip layer and a sacrificial layer which is preferably made of a metal. A protective layer, such as alumina, is then deposited over and around the stack of layers. After planarization and ion milling, the sacrificial layer is exposed. The sacrificial layer is then etched away leaving a volume of space in the protective layer and above the gap layer. An inductive coil with associated dielectric layers are then deposited above the first pole layer.
