  • Patent number: 7643523
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are directed to the use of optical gain structures that include alternating layers of gain medium and transparent heat conductors in which the gain medium itself functions as a correction optic. The gain medium changes to an optimum or desired shape because of the thermal changes occurring as the materials of the optical gain structure(s) reach a desired optical output condition. At the desired optical output conditions, the gain medium conforms to a desired shape. The desired shape may be, for example, that of an optical surface of a transparent heat conductor. By designing the initial shape of the gain medium such that the physical contact with the transparent heat conductor is maximized at the desired optical output conditions, conductive heat transfer between the gain medium and heat conductor(s) is maximized at the desired optical output condition.

  • Publication number: 20090262097
Abstract: The dimension detection system is implemented in cascaded circuit boards housed inside a frame assembly of the touch screen. After the frame assembly is assembled and powered, the dimension detection system in the circuit boards would provide horizontal and vertical feedback signals which are utilized to obtain the size of the touch screen. The size information of the touch screen could then be provided to the computer or embedded system where the touch screen is connected, preventing troublesome manual configuration. The dimension detection system and the flexible frame assembly together make the touch screen's production, storage, transportation, and usage more efficient and friendly.

  • Patent number: 7595015
Abstract: Disclosed is a cold-water soluble starch and a process for preparing same. Generally, the process comprises providing a hydroxyalkyl starch and applying a shearing force to the starch in an extruder in the presence of moisture, the force and the moisture each being sufficient to gelatinize at least substantially all of the granules of the starch to thereby form a sheared starch. The starch is heated to its gelatinization temperature after the starch has passed partially through the barrel of the extruder, with the moisture being maintained at a level sufficiently high to allow gelatinization but sufficiency low to protect the starch from becoming too sticky to extrude. The extruded starch product thus formed may be used in connection with a number of film-forming, coating, and other applications.

  • Publication number: 20090224054
Abstract: In a data region of each microdot block on a microdot matrix, a coordinate of each the microdot block on the microdot matrix is encoded into a plurality of microdots included by the data region according to an encoding method based on Reflected Gray codes. With the aid of a unique changed bit between any two consecutive Reflected Gray codes, an estimated coordinate of a frame, which is fetched by scanning the microdot matrix, on the microdot matrix, may still be decoded even if no complete microdot block is fetched within the frame.

  • Patent number: 7583752
Abstract: A differential signal transmitter including a driver circuit that generates a differential signal in response to data input. The amplitude of the voltage swings in the differential circuit is controlled by an electrical bias. Two data inputs, one being the original Data and the other being Data bar, are connected to the transistors and cause the required signal swings. The transmitter further includes a control circuit with an input for a single-bit control line for adjusting the bias to produce different swing amplitudes according to a control indicator inputted from the control line. The control circuit inputs one or more current sources and outputs the sum of one or more of the current sources according to the control indicator and the outputted current is used as the electrical bias.
