  • Publication number: 20090044087
Abstract: A data slicer includes an error bit predictor, a DC level compensator, a co-channel detector, and an output device. The data slicer generates four bytes according to four slicing levels respectively. The four slicing levels are a DC level, a level generated by adding a predetermined offset to the DC level, a level generated by subtracting the predetermined offset from the DC level, and a compensated level generated by the DC level compensator. The co-channel detector determines if the compensated level has the co-channel interference. The output device generates an output byte according to indication signals generated by the co-channel detector and the error bit predictor and the parity check of the four bytes.

  • Patent number: 7489525
Abstract: An electronic device includes a housing, a first connecting element, a second connecting element, and a lens module. In this case, the first connecting element pivots on the housing, and deflects relative to the housing in a first swing direction. The second connecting element pivots on the first connecting element, and deflects relative to the first connecting element in a second swing direction. The lens module connects with the second connecting element. Therefore, because the lens module of the electronic device can be deflected in both the first and the second swing directions, the lens module can retrieve images from a broader scope.

  • Publication number: 20090033204
Abstract: A white light LED is disclosed. The white light LED includes a dual-wavelength chip and an optical thin film. The dual-wavelength chip generates a first wavelength light and a second wavelength light. The optical thin film is disposed above the dual-wavelength chip. The optical thin film can partially be a quantum well thin film. Therefore, the quantum well thin film can be excited by the first wavelength light and/or second wavelength light to generate a third wavelength light. The optical thin film further comprises a plurality of windows to let the first and second wavelength lights pass through. By predetermining a ratio of the quantum well thin film area and the window area that belong to the optical thin film, a lumen ratio of the first, the second, and the third wavelength lights can be adjusted to realize white lights of different color temperatures.

  • Patent number: 7482157
Abstract: Cholesterol inhibitor produced by Monascus, monacolin k, is a secondary metabolite of polyketides. The invention provides probes specific to monacolin k biosynthesis gene cluster. BAC clones having putative monacolin k gene cluster were screened from BAC (bacterial artificial chromosome) library, and sequencing and annotation were performed on these clones. The results show that 2 polyketide synthase (PKS) genes and 7 regulatory genes related to monacolin k synthesis were obtained. Full-length cDNAs of these genes were then obtained by RT-PCR and cloned to expression vectors for the expression of these genes.

  • Publication number: 20090013167
Abstract: A method for booting a computer device can be applied to a basic input/output system (BIOS). Whether backup data of a master boot record (MBR) is stored in the BIOS is first determined. When the backup data of the MBR is not stored in the BIOS, actual data of the MBR is backed up to the BIOS; when the backup data of the MBR is stored in the BIOS, the actual data of the MBR is compared with the backup data of the MBR. Then the backup data is restored to MBR when the actual data is different from the backup data.

  • Publication number: 20090006911
Abstract: A data replacement processing method is disclosed. In the present invention, buffering and decoding are not interrupted when a data block to be replaced is found. The data block to be replaced can be a defect or a remapped block. The data block to be replaced is not processed until it is requested to be transferred. When the data block to be replaced is to be transferred, transferring is stopped and the data block to be replaced is processed. Therefore, efficiency of the optical disc drive can be promoted since interruption number of the buffering and decoding is decreased. In addition, the optical disc will not execute redundant processing for data blocks to be replaced which are not requested to be transferred.
