  • Patent number: 8937963
Abstract: A system is provided and includes a buffer, an interface, a processor, and an output device. The interface is configured to receive a packet from a network. The processor is configured to: determine a delay of the network in transmitting the packet; prior to storing the packet in the buffer, determine statistics of the buffer, and an amount the buffer is filled; determine a predetermined delay of the buffer based on the delay of the network, and the statistics; estimate an actual delay of the buffer for the packet based on the amount the buffer is filled; generate an error signal based on the predetermined delay and the actual delay; and based on the error signal, one of compress and expand the packet to change a first length of the packet to a second length. The output device is configured to output the packet based on the second length.

  • Patent number: 7961756
Abstract: A communications processor includes a first upper layer module to execute one or more upper layer protocols and a data link layer module to execute a data link layer protocol. A host processor includes a second upper layer module to execute the one or more upper layer protocols. A switching module causes the communications processor to operate in a first state or a second state. The communications processor executes only the data link layer protocol and none of the one or more upper layer protocols when the communications processor operates in the first state, and executes the data link layer protocol and the one or more upper layer protocols when the communications processor operates in the second state. The power saving module prevents the host processor from executing the one or more upper layer protocols executed by the communications processor when the communications processor operates in the second state.

  • Patent number: 7266780
Abstract: A structure and method for entering data into an electronic device (110). A deterministic data input element (130) coupled to the electronic device (110) is operable to accept a user-selected data input. Modulation of a motion of a non-deterministic data input element (140) coupled to the electronic device (11) is operable to select a varying precision of data input choices. A feedback element (120) coupled to one or more of the deterministic data input element (130) and the non-deterministic data input element (140) presents the data input choices to the user. The user enters data into electronic device (110) using one of the deterministic input element (130) and the non-deterministic input element (140) and the feedback element (120) displays a sequence of data choices to the user. The user then navigates a tree of possible data completions in order to select a particular data completion to be entered into the electronic device (110).
