  • Patent number: 9304903
Abstract: A block grouping method for a solid state drive includes the following steps. Firstly, plural blocks are classified into a high valid data count group and a low valid data count group according to valid data counts of respective blocks. An average erase count is set according to a specified number of blocks of the low valid data count group. A first block is selected from the high valid data count. A difference between the average erase count and a first erase count of the first block is calculated. If the difference exceeds a threshold value, a wear leveling operation is performed on the first block.

  • Patent number: 9306419
Abstract: A first device may have a processor and a power management system configured to receive a request from a second device. The first device may receive attribute data from the second device and compare the attribute data of the second device to attribute data of the first device. The first device may then determine whether the second device is a qualifying device based on the comparison and it may also determine a power transfer mode of the first device based on whether the device is a qualifying device and on the attribute data of the first and second device.

  • Publication number: 20160073284
Abstract: Examples of power conservation management for user equipment based on the operating state of the user equipment are provided. A user equipment may implement a power managing application that monitors the activity of the user equipment, such as the number of applications open on the user equipment, the data usage requirements for each open application, data delay tolerances for each application and/or a level of user interaction with the device at a given moment. Based on the level of activity and the data requirements, the managing application on the user equipment is able to make a discontinuous reception profile setting recommendation selected from more than two discontinuous reception profiles to the mobile communications network entity. In response to the discontinuous reception profile setting recommendation, the network entity may modify the connection status with the user equipment.

  • Patent number: 9279990
Abstract: A display module includes a display device, a pivot member, and a reflection-mirror device. The display device includes a light splitting device and a monitor for displaying first and second images arranged alternately. The light splitting device is disposed at a position corresponding to a light exit side of the monitor for splitting the first and second images along first and second splitting directions respectively. The pivot member is disposed at a side of the display device. The reflection-mirror device is connected to the pivot member to be foldably pivoted to the side of the display device. The reflection-mirror device is for reflecting the first images split along the first splitting direction in a reflection direction when being unfolded relative to the display device. The reflection direction is relatively biased toward the monitor so as to form an included angle cooperatively with a normal of the monitor.

  • Patent number: 9280459
Abstract: A block grouping method includes the following steps. Firstly, a link list is established. In the link list, plural blocks are classified into plural groups according to valid data counts of respective blocks. If a host refreshes a stored data of a flash memory of the solid state drive or adds a new data into the flash memory, the valid data count of the block corresponding to the refreshed data or the new data is changed, and the link list is updated according to the changed valid data count of the block. After the garbage collection is started by the solid state drive, the block to be subject to the garbage collection is selected according to the link list, and the garbage collection is performed.

  • Publication number: 20160061957
Abstract: Examples are provided that enable a cellular network location assist to confirm a position determined using a sensor of a mobile device. As a result of global positioning system signals becoming unavailable due to the mobile device traveling indoors, the mobile device implements a sensor-based position determination that provides a position of the mobile device as the mobile device travels about a location. In order to confirm the reliability of the sensor-based position determination, the mobile device, after passage of time or after traveling some estimated distance, requests location assistance indications from the cellular network. A processor of the mobile device receives the location assistance indications and generates a directional vector based on several of the location assistance indications. Using the directional vector, the processor confirms the reliability of the dead reckoning position.

  • Publication number: 20160019239
Abstract: An example of a method of keyword identification and content overlay is described. A mobile device identifies a keyword within a file containing one or more images. The identified keyword is compared to a collection of pre-stored keywords. If the identified keyword matches one of the pre-stored keywords, content corresponding to the matched pre-stored keyword is overlaid onto the image and the image with the overlaid content is displayed. A user of the mobile device can select the overlaid content to retrieve additional information related to the identified keyword.

  • Publication number: 20160021081
Abstract: Authentication involves collecting information relating to a user's behavior relative to a mobile device carried by the user, over a number of time periods that correspond to each other. An authentication technique includes processing the collected information to generate baseline data representing typical user behavior. The authentication technique includes collecting additional information relating to the user's behavior relative to the mobile device over another time period that corresponds to the time periods used to generate the baseline data. The additional information relating to the user's behavior is compared to the baseline data, and a difference between the additional information and the baseline data is determined. An authentication procedure is then applied based on the difference. The authentication may be performed by a mobile device such as a smartphone.

  • Patent number: 9213720
Abstract: Peer-to-peer redundant file server system and methods include clients that determine a target storage provider to contact for a particular storage transaction based on a pathname provided by the filesystem and a predetermined scheme such as a hash function applied to a portion of the pathname. Servers use the same scheme to determine where to store relevant file information so that the clients can locate the file information. The target storage provider may store the file itself and/or may store metadata that identifies one or more other storage providers where the file is stored. A file may be replicated in multiple storage providers, and the metadata may include a list of storage providers from which the clients can select (e.g., randomly) in order to access the file.

  • Publication number: 20150350200
Abstract: Generation and segregation of mobile device biometric application template storage is described. Applications request a memory domain within mobile device storage for storing enrolled templates in the domain. The application calls a secure API associated with the biometric driver and software of the mobile device. As a result, the biometric driver and software does not search a number of domains to locate the enrolled templates that correspond to the mobile application or search all enrolled templates stored in memory. The mobile device applications maintain control of the storage domain and the template. The enrolled template may only be deleted through the controlling mobile device application.

  • Publication number: 20150260373
Abstract: The invention relates to the optical films, in particular to a quantum dot film applied to a backlight module. The quantum dot film aims to solve the problem that the color saturation of a liquid crystal displayer is poor. The novel quantum dot film comprises a quantum dot layer, and an upper waterproof layer and a lower waterproof layer are arranged on the upper surface of the quantum dot layer and the lower surface of the quantum dot layer respectively. The quantum dot layer comprises, by weight, 100 parts of adhesives, 5-20 parts of silica gel particles, 1-20 parts of diffusion particles and 0.1-20 parts of quantum dots. The surface of the silica gel particles is provided with a micropore structure. The quantum dots are adsorbed in micropores of the silica gel particles or dispersed in the adhesives. The silica gel particles and the diffusion particles are dispersed in the adhesives. The quantum dot film is applied to the backlight module and has the advantages of improving the color gamut and illuminance.

  • Publication number: 20150179037
Abstract: Liquid ingress event detection methods and detectors are provided. Temperature and moisture data are synchronously collected from at least one sensor unit coupled to an electronic device susceptible to liquid damage. A rate of change of each of the temperature data and the moisture data are determined, to form respective temperature change rate data and moisture change rate data. Each of the temperature change rate data and the moisture change rate data are compared to at least one predetermined liquid ingress condition. A liquid ingress event is identified when at least one of the temperature change rate data or the moisture change rate data matches the predetermined liquid ingress condition. An indication of the identified liquid ingress event is stored.
