  • Patent number: 11042794
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for validating a candidate answer to an input question. A candidate answer to an input question is identified using a natural language processing of the input question and a corpus of information from which the candidate answer is identified. A validator is selected to apply to the candidate answer based on a characteristic of a correct answer for the input question. The validator is applied to the candidate answer to evaluate whether or not criteria of the validator are met by the candidate answer. Validation information is generated based the evaluation of whether or not criteria of the validator are met by the candidate answer. The validation information is stored in a validation status object associated with the input question.

  • Patent number: 11027795
Abstract: A boat, having a transom, includes one or more aft-facing seats. Each aft-facing seat is positioned proximate to the transom and includes a seat bottom that is inclined at a downward angle in a direction extending from aft to fore, a seatback, a headrest, a seat support structure having at least one hidden compartment therein, and at least one pivot mechanism attached to the seatback and the headrest and configured to allow the seatback to move between a first position in which the seatback is capable of supporting the back of a person seated in the seat and a second position in which the seatback is pivoted upwardly to allow access to the compartment and the headrest to move between an upright position and a folded position. A plurality of handles may be provided for each aft-facing seat, with one at an outboard side and another at an inboard side.

  • Patent number: 11015300
Abstract: The present invention provides a vehicle traction device which may be conveniently attached and applied to roadways that are subject to accumulations of ice, snow, and other wintry precipitation. The vehicle traction device provides a center strip which deters unintended horizontal motion of vehicles as well as skidding, sliding, spinning, and the general loss of traction. The center strip can include a collapsible support system which will allow the center strip to collapse to low height to permit the passage of road clearing equipment or other low clearance vehicles. In addition, the vehicle traction device provides angled strips which deter unintended sliding motion forward or reverse relative to the normal flow of traffic, especially when vehicles are ascending or descending along steeply sloping roadways. Finally, the vehicle traction device further provides bristle strips which help to dislodge ice and other accumulations on vehicle tires which may interfere with vehicle traction.

  • Publication number: 20210115747
Abstract: A casing removal system includes a flow diversion valve. The flow diversion valve includes a flow switch that engages an upper end of an inner casing. When the flow switch engages the upper end of the inner casing, the flow diversion valve opens and at least a portion of the fluid flow through the casing removal system exhausts to the annulus. The remaining fluid flow below the flow diversion valve is insufficient to operate a mud motor that drives a casing cutter. In other embodiments, when the flow switch is not engaged with the inner wall of casing, the flow diversion valve prevents fluid flow to components that are downhole of the valve and when the flow switch is engaged with the inner wall of casing, the flow diversion valve allows for fluid flow to components that are downhole of the valve.

  • Patent number: 10898040
Abstract: An ice scraper comprising a handle and a scraper head connected to the handle. The scraper head includes a proximal end, a distal end having a scraping edge, a scraping side, a chipping side, and at least three chipping teeth for chipping ice, hard snow, or frost from a curved surface. The chipping teeth extend outwardly from the chipping side. Each chipping tooth has a contact edge. At least one of the contact edges is offset forward or rearward of contact edges of two of the other chipping teeth so that at least one point of each contact edge can simultaneously contact the curved surface regardless of the scraper's position relative to the curved surface and regardless of a direction of the scraper.

  • Publication number: 20200392567
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for performing assays, including general functional assays, on a biological cell. The methods can include contacting a biological cell with a test agent for a period of time; lysing the biological cell while the biological cell is disposed within a sequestration pen located within an enclosure of a microfluidic device; and allowing RNA molecules released from the lysed biological cell to be captured by capture oligonucleotides linked to a capture object disposed within the sequestration pen of the microfluidic device. Each capture oligonucleotide can include a priming sequence that binds a primer, and a capture sequence. Each cDNA transcribed from a captured RNA can have an oligonucleotide sequence complementary to the captured RNA molecule, with the complementary oligonucleotide sequence being covalently linked to one of the capture oligonucleotides of the capture object.

  • Publication number: 20200281097
Abstract: An electronic device having a battery assembly is disclosed. Unlike traditional battery assemblies that include rectilinear electrodes with two sides of equal length, the battery assemblies described herein may include electrodes having a shape/configuration resembling an L-shape electrode used to form chemical reactions in order to generate electrical energy. However, other shapes/configurations are possible. The shape/configuration of the housing of the battery assembly confirms to the shape/configuration of the electrodes. Further, in order to accommodate an internal component (such as a circuit board assembly), the shape of the battery assembly provides additional space in the electronic device. In order to form the electrodes, the electrodes may undergo a die cutting operation. Also, the housing may include a channel, or reduced dimension, that accommodates a flexible circuit in the electronic device that passes over the battery assembly at the channel.
