  • Publication number: 20080052669
Abstract: A method is described which permits a computer programmer to write a program with the assistance of the computer itself. The computer will provide instant feedback, following the procedures herein described, to the result of performing each instruction. Therefore, the programmer may instantaneously observe the working of the program as the computer will perform it. Thus any difference in the result produced by the computer from what the programmer expects to happen may be recognized and, if appropriate, corrected. In a higher order implementation of this method the computer will display icons to link the in-process programming to a working routine resident on a remote computer. Thus, the tools and benefits of so-called Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) can be made available to the programmer. Employing the method of this invention, the computer becomes an integral part of the creative process of writing a program.

  • Patent number: 7334370
Abstract: A fence post anchor comprising a lower portion, first and second supporting arms, and first and second main arms, made out of a single piece of material. The supporting arms wrap around the front face of a metal fence post and ensure that the anchor will bend above the supporting arms rather than at the base. The supporting arms can lie side by side in the same vertical plane or overlap and lock together with tabs and cut-outs or form a notch. The main arms can be flat or rounded at their top edge and can include folded flanges that tuck behind the front face of the fence post. The first and second main arms spread outward and provide resistance if the fence post is subject to upward pressure. A fence post anchor comprising first and second front arms and first and second rear supporting members with outwardly extending flanges.

  • Patent number: 7322986
Abstract: A bioabsorbable interference screw having a tapered profile which extends along substantially the entire length of the screw. The tapered profile makes the screw easy to insert while providing superior fixation resulting from a progressively increasing diameter. Upon insertion, the screw engages cortical bone at the back end of the bone tunnel and fills all but 5-10 mm. of the tunnel, thereby providing increased fixation strength while also promoting fast healing. The screw includes a head provided with a specially designed drive socket with radially extending slots at its outer end for receiving corresponding protrusions on the shaft of screwdriver. The drive socket optimizes the torque capacity of the screw. To maintain wall thickness, the socket has a taper corresponding to the tapered outer profile of the screw. The taper of the socket also permits easy insertion of the tip and shaft of the driver into the screw.

  • Patent number: 7237233
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for facilitating the sharing of data structures in a software application written using both a high level programming language and assembly language. Methods are provided for defining a data structure in an assembly language program such that the data structure is created in exact conformance to the physical and logical memory layout mandated for a comparable data structure by a compiler for a high level language. Such methods comprise providing assembly language directives that cause the assembler to automatically adapt a data structure definition to the alignment constraints imposed by the high level language compiler.

  • Patent number: 7139781
Abstract: A system and method for managing logical versions of a filesystem made through a near-instantaneous copy process is provided. Each logical version of the filesystem, including the primary version, is assigned a unique epoch number or other identifying value, and each filesystem object is assigned two epoch numbers that define the space of logical versions for which the object exists. A list of all valid epoch numbers are maintained in a version table. The near-instantaneous creation of a logical version of the filesystem requires inserting a unique epoch number entry in the version table (106) and the next epoch number to the new logical version. An original state of the system is preserved through the use of a copy-on-write procedure for filesystem objects that are reference by that logical filesystem version (120). Accordingly, filesystem versions are maintained and original states of previous states of the logical filesystem versions are preserved.
