  • Publication number: 20180076744
Abstract: An electric drive for a vehicle uses an inverter circuit configured to provide a multi-phase AC drive signal to an electric machine according to a PWM drive signal. A PWM controller monitors an operating point of the electric drive and is configured to identify an operating region of the electric drive from a plurality of predetermined regions in response to the monitored operating point. A sequence memory stores a plurality of sequences, each sequence optimized for a respective one of the predetermined regions to reduce audible noise and switching losses. The PWM controller generates the PWM drive signal according to a respective sequence corresponding to the identified operating region. Thus, the reduction of audible noise and switching losses is optimized based on torque and/or speed of the motor.

  • Patent number: 9822786
Abstract: Provided is a light activated rotor comprising typically a plurality of vanes affixed to a hub rotatable around the longitudinal axis of an axle. Each vane comprises a planar surface oriented generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the axle with each vane separated into a first surface and a second surface. The first and second surface are adjacent and share a common boundary generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the axle. Additionally, the first and second surfaces have differing emissivities. When the light activated rotor is illuminated with a radiant flux, the differing emissivities of the first and second surfaces produce a temperature gradient across the vane and generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and a thermal creep force across the planar surface of the vane generates a revolution of the vane and the affixed hub around the longitudinal axis of the axle.

  • Patent number: 9793669
Abstract: The disclosed invention is a slip ring assembly that provides electrical power transfer to centrifugal turbomachinery while minimizing or eliminating the presence of wires in the flow path. The device transfers electrical power through a set of wires connected to a plurality of brushes that are held rotationally stationary, but allowed to displace axially or radially through a set of springs. The brushes make contact with conductive busbar rings, transferring electricity to the busbar rings. The busbar rings rotate with the centrifugal turbomachine with a set of wires that connect the busbar rings to the blades or other aerodynamic surfaces of the centrifugal turbomachine.

  • Patent number: 9702173
Abstract: A window lock assembly accomplishing FER manipulation protection against unintended window opening without using additional components in the typical FER lock assembly by using a passive barrier system to help prevent access to both the lock cam and lock lever handle. The device can include at least one lock assembly mounted on the interior side of the window's inner sash and having a locked and unlocked position. The lock assembly engages with at least one keeper mounted on the outer sash to secure the window. The lock assembly housing has a barrier extending outward from the bottom surface which effectively helps to block access to the cam. The lock assembly housing also has a shroud which extends from the top and side edges which partially or completely covers the keeper and effectively helps to block access to the lever handle.

  • Patent number: 9705383
Abstract: Provided is a light activated generator comprising typically a plurality of vanes affixed to a hub rotatable around the longitudinal axis of an axle. Each vane comprises a conductor and comprises a planar surface oriented generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the axle with each vane separated into a first surface and a second surface. The first and second surfaces are generally co-planer and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the axle. Additionally, the first and second surfaces have differing emissivities. When the light activated generator is illuminated with a radiant flux, the differing emissivities of the first and second surfaces produce a temperature gradient across the vane, and a thermal creep force across the planar surface generates a revolution of the vane around the longitudinal axis of the axle to motivate the conductor through a magnetic field, generating a voltage across the conductor.

  • Patent number: 9684791
Abstract: A secure secrets proxy is instantiated in a first computing environment and includes secure secrets proxy authentication data for identifying itself to a secrets distribution management system in a second computing environment as a trusted virtual asset to receive and cache secrets data in a secure secrets cache outside the second computing environment. A virtual asset requests one or more secrets, triggering a process to authenticate the requesting virtual asset, gathering authorized secrets data representing secrets the virtual asset is allowed to have. The secure secrets proxy is provided data representing the requested secrets and stores that secrets data in the secure secrets cache of the proxy.

  • Publication number: 20170067678
Abstract: An evaporator includes a refrigerant conduit sandwiched between front a rear plates. The front and rear plates have inner flat portions, each inner flat portion of the front plate faces, but is spaced from, a respective inner flat portion of the rear plate to define a respective spaced portion. The front and rear plates further include a set of first protrusions. Each first protrusion on the front plate faces a respective first protrusion on the rear plate to define a respective active cavity. The refrigerant conduit extends through each of the active cavities. The front and rear plates also include a set of second protrusions. Each second protrusion on the front plate faces a respective second protrusion on the rear plate to define a respective passive cavity. The refrigerant conduit does not extend through any of the passive cavities. The location of the active and passive cavities are interspersed and separated by respective inner flat portions so as to define a plurality of ice forming sites.
