  • Patent number: 10263840
Abstract: Systems and methods for stretching a subnet that do not require level 2 (L2) communications to be handled are provided. A user may gradually migrate VMs or applications instead of migrating an entire subnet at one time, may fail-over specific VMs without failing-over an entire subnet or renumbering IP addresses, may deploy applications to the cloud without the need to create a VPN, or may enable hybrid network connectivity without modifying routes or (re)configuring edge routers, among other benefits. The domains over which the subnet are stretched include a virtual gateway which is associated with the layer-3 (L3) addresses of the other domains. L3 communications within the domain are routed within that domain, and L3 communications within the subnet in another domain are intercepted by the local gateway, are passed to the remote gateway of the other domain, and are forwarded to the destination while leveraging L3 communications.

  • Publication number: 20190107924
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide an approach for optimizing a presentation of content on a display of a user device for n identified user. Application behavior metrics and user behavior metrics are tracked over time for the particular user based on the applications executing on the user device and the users interactions with the content presented by each application. Sections of content are assigned a priority based on the collected metrics which identify content sections (i.e., focus areas) most likely relevant to the user. Based on the assigned priorities, content from one or more applications is presented to the user in an optimal manner (e.g., not overlaid or obscured).

  • Publication number: 20190108107
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for a time-based checkpoint target is provided for standby databases. Change records received from a primary database are applied for a standby database, creating dirty buffer queues. As the change records are applied, a mapping is maintained, which maps timestamps to logical times of change records that were most recently applied at the timestamp for the standby database. On a periodic dirty buffer queue processing interval, the mapping is used to determine a target logical time that is mapped to a target timestamp that is prior to a present timestamp by at least a checkpoint delay. The dirty buffer queues are then processed up to the target logical time, creating an incremental checkpoint. On a periodic header update interval, file headers reflecting a consistent logical time for the checkpoint are also updated. The intervals and the checkpoint delay are adjustable by user or application.

  • Patent number: 10255081
Abstract: A method for decommissioning an application operating on a computer system or a computer system includes receiving, at a decommissioning system, information that specifies a server to analyze. The decommissioning system determines one or more applications operating on the server, one or more instruction code libraries that are being utilized by the one or more applications, and hardware dependencies of the one or more instruction code libraries. Based on the determined hardware dependencies, the decommissioning system determines whether the application is suitable for migration to a cloud computing system. The decommissioning system generates a report indicating a suitability for migration of the application to the cloud computer system.

  • Patent number: 10256490
Abstract: An apparatus for separating oxygen from a gas mixture includes an oxide layer having ion transport channels therein, which facilitate the migration of oxygen ions from a first side to a second side of the layer. Molecular oxygen is decomposed into oxygen ions at the first side, whereas oxygen ions recombine into molecular oxygen at the second side. A first chamber into which a gas mixture (e.g., air) is admitted is located on the first side of the oxide layer. A second chamber receives oxygen from the oxide layer, and is located on the second side of the oxide layer; the second chamber has a polarizable medium that is in contact with the oxide layer. A gate electrode in contact with the polarizable medium applies an electric field to the second side of the oxide layer, thereby driving oxygen ions across the oxide layer.

  • Patent number: 10255404
Abstract: A computer-implemented includes performing retiming using a circuit design to determine variation to the circuit design. The circuit design includes a first set of registers with defined power-up states and the variations each comprise a second set of registers that correspond to the first set of registers. The method includes computing and maintaining programmable power-up states for the second set of registers in the variations. The programmable power-up states computed for the second set of registers are equivalent to the defined power-up states of the first set of registers. The method includes identifying registers of the second set of registers involved in an initial state conflict, and performing a mitigating action to resolve the initial state conflict to enable retiming to continue while maintaining functionally equivalent behavior as the circuit design. Various choices of initial states are also explored during retiming to maximize the effect of retiming.

  • Publication number: 20190101887
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for swapping springs present in a product. A data receiving module receives metadata associated to a spring. The metadata comprises a pitch, vector coordinates and alike. A comparison module compares the pitch associated to the spring with a predefined threshold value thereby categorizing each spring into one of a category including a utilized spring category and an underutilized spring category. A determination module determines an underutilized spring, amongst the underutilized spring category, based on at least one of the vector coordinates and the pitch, when the spring is categorized in the utilized spring category. Subsequent to determining the underutilized spring, the swapping module swaps the spring with the underutilized spring by using a control mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20190102497
Abstract: A method for designing a system on a target device includes performing register retiming on an original design for the system to generate a retimed design. The retimed design is verified to determine whether it is structurally correct by performing a plurality of iterations of register retiming on the retimed design, wherein each iteration accounts for the retiming of registers in the system driven by a different clock.

  • Publication number: 20190102421
Abstract: A database session in an active standby server on which an active standby database resides receives a DML statement. The session is suspended while the statement is redirected over a database link to a primary database on which the statement is executed. Information associated with execution of the statement is communicated to the session in the active standby server. Redo records describing changes to the contents of the primary database are applied to the active standby database and control is returned to the session. Prior to commitment of a transaction including the statement, a query directed to data to which the statement was directed is received at the active standby server from a client and executed on the active standby database absent use of a database link based on whether information associated with a database session associated with the client matches the information associated with execution of the statement.
