  • Publication number: 20170374620
Abstract: The embodiments of the disclosure include methods and apparatus that provide back-off procedures for avoiding, device/network resource depletion in bad network conditions. A device user may selectively enable an auxiliary back-off procedure that extends the time between network service requests. For example, the auxiliary back-off procedure may be used if the device determines an attach request is unsuccessful when a reject message is received from the network and the reject message indicates a reject cause for which the device has no defined back-off to follow. The auxiliary back-off procedure may be also be used if the device determines that a service request is unsuccessful when the service request is ignored, i.e. no response is received from the network, or, when a service request reject is received from the network and the reject message indicates a reject cause for which the device has no defined back-off to follow.

  • Publication number: 20170373335
Abstract: An apparatus for separating oxygen from a gas mixture includes an oxide layer having ion transport channels therein, which facilitate the migration of oxygen ions from a first side to a second side of the layer. Molecular oxygen is decomposed into oxygen ions at the first side, whereas oxygen ions recombine into molecular oxygen at the second side. A first chamber into which a gas mixture (e.g., air) is admitted is located on the first side of the oxide layer. A second chamber receives oxygen from the oxide layer, and is located on the second side of the oxide layer; the second chamber has a polarizable medium that is in contact with the oxide layer. A gate electrode in contact with the polarizable medium applies an electric field to the second side of the oxide layer, thereby driving oxygen ions across the oxide layer.

  • Publication number: 20170370879
Abstract: An apparatus includes an oxide layer having ion transport channels that facilitate the migration of oxygen ions from a first side to a second side of the layer. Specifically, molecular oxygen is decomposed into oxygen ions at the first side, and oxygen ions recombine into molecular oxygen at the second side. The apparatus includes a first chamber having a polarizable medium located on the second side of the oxide layer; a second chamber having an analyte that includes dissolved oxygen is located on the first side. The apparatus further includes a gate electrode that is in contact with, and applies a voltage to, the polarizable medium; in this manner, an electric field is applied to the second side of the oxide layer, which drives oxygen ions across the oxide layer. The apparatus can be used as an oxygen sensor, e.g., for detecting oxygen in a liquid such as blood.

  • Patent number: 9853587
Abstract: A variable frequency motor drive comprises a converter including a rectifier having an input for connection to an AC power source and converting the AC power to DC power. A DC bus is connected to the rectifier circuit. At least one bus capacitor is across the DC bus. An inverter receives DC power from the DC bus and converts the DC power to AC power to drive a motor. A controller is operatively connected to the converter. The controller comprises a speed control controlling the inverter responsive to a speed command to maintain a desired motor speed. A speed foldback control measures DC bus ripple voltage and regulates the speed command responsive to the measured DC bus ripple voltage.

  • Patent number: 9852035
Abstract: Restarting virtual machines is provided. Each server in a plurality of servers is monitored within a client virtual machine host environment via a network. In response to determining that a server failed in the plurality of servers within the client virtual machine host environment, a list of virtual machines that were executing in the failed server is retrieved. A set of virtual machine dependency groups for virtual machines in the list of virtual machines is retrieved based on properties corresponding to each respective virtual machine in the list of virtual machines. The set of virtual machine dependency groups is restarted in parallel on a failover server of an alternate virtual machine host environment via the network.
