  • Publication number: 20170302513
Abstract: Examples relate to the configuration of network connections for computing devices. In some examples, a computing device determines that a network is inaccessible through a first network connection provided by a network access node. The computing device determines that the network is accessible through a first computing device that provides a second connection to the network. The computing device generates gateway configuration data for a second computing device based on an address for the first computing device. The computing device transmits the gateway configuration data to the second computing device to cause the second computing device to use the first computing device as a gateway.

  • Publication number: 20170301072
Abstract: Various embodiments provide an optimized image filter. The optimized image and video obtains an input image and selects a target pixel for modification. Difference values are then determined between the selected target pixel and each reference pixel of a search area. Subsequently, a weighting function is used to determine weight values for each of the reference pixels of the search area based on their respective difference value. The selected target pixel is then modified by the optimized image filter using the determined weight values. A new target pixel in an apply patch is then selected for modification. The new target pixel is modified using the previously determined weight values reassigned to a new set of reference pixels. The previously determined weight values are reassigned to the new set of reference pixels based on each of the new set of reference pixels' position relative to the new target pixel.

  • Patent number: 9791880
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to reduce localized transistor operating temperature increases in fully integrated voltage regulator circuits are provided. Transistor self-heating effects are reduced by dispersing heat more evenly over the integrated circuit die, via use of nested voltage regulator circuits and/or use of more than one transistor in a voltage regulator circuit pass device. An electrically parallel-connected group of multiple individual integrated transistors may be laid out across cooler areas of the integrated circuit die, such as in substantially linear sets or rings of devices near the outer die perimeter. Each transistor in the group may better disperse its own heat if it is thermally segregated from other self-heating devices, as through a minimum physical layout spacing. Transistor bias voltage mismatch tolerances, load currents, and routing resistances may interrelatedly determine the number of individual transistors needed in a group.

  • Patent number: 9792146
Abstract: Software, hardware, and virtual network resources are anti-collocated on a networked computing environment. A computerized network-management system receives a list of resources to be installed on components of a network and a set of anti-collocation rules that identify combinations of resources that may not be installed concurrently on the same network component. Each resource is assigned a priority and the resources are organized into groups as a function of these priorities. The groups are processed sequentially in priority order, and a color is assigned to each resource in each group. Any resource not constrained by an anti-collocation rule is assigned a default “most popular” color. Each constrained resource is assigned a color that is not already used by any other resource with which the constrained resource is anti-collocated. The resources in each group are then installed in order of color, with the more populous colors being installed first.

  • Publication number: 20170294906
Abstract: In an example, a system and method for centering in a high-performance interconnect (HPI) are disclosed. When an interconnect is powered up from a dormant state, it may be necessary to “center” the clock signal to ensure that data are read at the correct time. A multi-phase method may be used, in which a first phase comprises a reference voltage sweep to identify an optimal reference voltage. A second phase comprises a phase sweep to identify an optimal phase. A third sweep comprises a two-dimensional “eye” phase, in which a plurality of values within a two-dimensional eye derived from the first two sweeps are tested. In each case, the optimal value is the value that results in the fewest bit error across multiple lanes. In one example, the second and third phases are performed in software, and may include testing a “victim” lane, with adjacent “aggressor” lanes having a complementary bit pattern.

  • Publication number: 20170295240
Abstract: A control plane redundancy system includes a control system that is configured to provide a plurality of control plane functionalities to a network, a primary networking device that is configured to establish a first communication connection with the control system, and a secondary networking device that is configured to establish a second communication connection with the primary networking device and a third communication connection with the control system. The primary networking device can transmit to the control system a secondary networking device identifier that identifies the secondary networking device as a redundant networking device for the primary networking device when the first communication connection is unavailable. The secondary networking device can determine that the primary networking device is still active when the first communication connection is unavailable and, in response, establish a proxy communication connection between the primary networking device and the control system.

  • Patent number: 9787531
Abstract: A method and associated systems of automatic notification of isolation of a first networked device. In response to detecting that it is not being properly managed by a network-management means, the first networked device creates a notification message that identifies the problem and requests proper network management. The device then transmits this message to any other device or networked node that it can communicate with, along with a request that recipients try to forward the message to the network-management means. If a device that receives the message is able to forward the message successfully, the network-management means takes appropriate steps to begin properly managing the first networked device.

  • Publication number: 20170287360
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to system(s) and device for assisting a visually impaired user to grip objects. The system may receive an image of an object in real-time and identify a reference image corresponding to the image by comparing the image with reference images. Further, the system may identify a reference tactile image corresponding to the reference image and generate a first set of audio instructions for assisting the visually impaired user to grip the object based on the reference tactile image. Further, the system may receive a tactile image from a tactile glove of the visually impaired user and compare the tactile image with the reference tactile image to identify pressure variation data. Furthermore, the system may generate a second set of audio instructions for guiding the visually impaired user to grip the object base on a second set of audio instructions generated using the pressure variation data.

  • Publication number: 20170289245
Abstract: An approach for sharing an asset in a peer-to-peer (P2P) network is provided. After a computer sends a request to a new node for a new subscription and prior to the computer receiving the new subscription, the new node requests a digital certificate or permission from a user. The new node receives the digital certificate or permission. The new node determines a number of P2P connections in the network does not exceed a threshold amount and determines that no bandwidth degradation exists in the network. Responsive to receiving the digital certificate or permission, determining the number of P2P connections does not exceed the threshold, and determining that no bandwidth degradation exists in the network, the new node transfers the asset to the computer and updates a local list of nodes authorized to receive assets shared by the new node by adding an identification of the computer.

  • Patent number: 9779617
Abstract: A microprocessor-operated, networked device that uses sensors in, on and near the toilet to detects toilet leaks and overflows of the toilet tank or bowl, then reports these errant conditions with a visual or audible indicator in addition to sending a message via a network (if available) to a computer system that may collate this data with that from other toilets and other sources and subsequently determine further action such as shutting off water or calling a technician. The present invention can be integral to a toilet or removably attached to an existing toilet without this technology.
