  • Publication number: 20120283885
Abstract: Systems and methods for analyzing power plant data include accessing data for one or more monitored parameters, generating a continuous time-series profile model (e.g., by generalized additive model and/or principal curves techniques) of selected parameters during instances of at least one given type of power plant operation, and conducting shape analysis by comparing the continuous time-series profile model of selected monitored parameters to an entitlement curve representing ideal performance for the at least one given type of power plant operation. Data associated with the profile modeling and shape analysis techniques may be provided as electronic output to a user. Additional steps or features may involve determining a capability index for selected monitored parameters, clustering together identified groups of profile models having similar profiles, monitoring and/or optimizing parameters to identify and improve power plant performance.

  • Patent number: 8305958
Abstract: A method and system for advanced media access control delegated from a host device, such as a WiFi device, to a smart wireless communications module. In an embodiment, the host signals to the wireless module a list of one or more preferred networks. The wireless module offloads from the host the processing required to scan for the preferred network(s), as well as possibly other management tasks. The wireless communications module may automatically reassign the network connection from an existing network to a preferred network, or may report to the host when a preferred network is discovered. In either case, the wireless communications module may monitor the wireless environment, and scan for preferred networks, in parallel with maintaining an existing connection. The method and system allows rapid adaptation to a changing network environment, and enables lower system power consumption by distributing management functions between the host and the lower-powered wireless communications module.

  • Publication number: 20120274777
Abstract: A camera system comprises an image capturing device, object detection module, object tracking module, and match classifier. The object detection module receives image data and detects objects appearing in one or more of the images. The object tracking module temporally associates instances of a first object detected in a first group of the images. The first object has a first signature representing features of the first object. The match classifier matches object instances by analyzing data derived from the first signature of the first object and a second signature of a second object detected in a second image. The second signature represents features of the second object derived from the second image. The match classifier determine whether the second signature matches the first signature. A training process automatically configures the match classifier using a set of possible object features.

  • Publication number: 20120278386
Abstract: A method and system for sharing an asset in a peer-to-peer network. Meta data and a source node identification are received. The meta data specifies properties and content of the asset to be shared by the source node. The received source node identification and the meta data are locally stored as a couple in a catalog. Subsequently, content specifying the asset and a request to search for and retrieve the asset based on the content is received. The locally stored catalog is loaded and searched to detect the couple that includes the source node identification and meta data, where the received content matches the meta data. The source node is identified based on the detected couple. A request is sent to the source node to retrieve and share the asset, and in response, the asset is received.

  • Publication number: 20120272329
Abstract: An approach for obfuscating sensitive data while preserving data usability is presented. The in-scope data files of an application are identified. The in-scope data files include sensitive data that must be masked to preserve its confidentiality. Data definitions are collected. Primary sensitive data fields are identified. Data names for the primary sensitive data fields are normalized. The primary sensitive data fields are classified according to sensitivity. Appropriate masking methods are selected from a pre-defined set to be applied to each data element based on rules exercised on the data. The data being masked is profiled to detect invalid data. Masking software is developed and input considerations are applied. The selected masking method is executed and operational and functional validation is performed.

  • Publication number: 20120259870
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a method and system for establishing sorting order for events from a plurality of systems. Central Unique Identity Service (CUIS) provides a unique ID to a client for an event. The client is a service provider registered with the CUIS. User is a subscriber of the client. The User initiates an event with the client using his computing or communication device. The client requests for a unique ID for the initiated event with the CUIS through a network, before the event is performed or executed. The CUIS records the unique ID along with predefined attributes of the client application, the application identifier for the event, application network identity, application user and the user's device associated with the event in the CUIS unit. The CUIS thus establishes a sorting order for the unique ID's recorded and thereby for the events across all clients.
