  • Publication number: 20120310951
Abstract: Given a set of documents relevant to a litigation hold and a seed set of custodians, a second set of custodians can be generated and suggested to a user. After receiving a seed set of keywords and/or custodians, documents are identified based on their relevance. Relevant documents are searched for custodian names, and appropriate custodian names are presented to a user. Additionally, based on a first set of custodians, a suggested set of custodians can be provided to a user based on relationships between the sets of custodians.

  • Patent number: 8326950
Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting data are disclosed. In one embodiment a processor-implemented user interface module prompts a user via a graphical user interface to identify or enter data in a first information field and a second information field displayed on the graphical user interface. A processor-implemented data transmitting module automatically commences transmitting data over a network after detecting that the user has completed the identification or entry of data in the first information field and before the user has completed identifying or entering data in the second information field. The user interface module detects that the user has modified the first information field, and the data transmitting module aborts transmitting data over the network in response to detecting that the user has modified the first information field.

  • Patent number: 8326915
Abstract: A communications system having a data transfer pipeline apparatus for transferring data in a sequence of N stages from an origination device to a destination device. The apparatus comprises dedicated memory having buffers dedicated for carrying data and a master control for registering and controlling processes associated with the apparatus for participation in the N stage data transfer sequence. The processes include a first stage process for initiating the data transfer and a last Nth stage process for completing data transfer. The first stage process allocates a buffer from a predetermined number of buffers available within the memory for collection, processing, and sending of the data from the origination device to a next stage process. The Nth stage process receives a buffer allocated to the first stage process from the (N?1)th stage and to free the buffer upon processing completion to permit reallocation of the buffer.

  • Publication number: 20120303271
Abstract: The present invention is related to detecting location of a navigation device using sensor data analysis, where the sensor is coupled to the navigation device. A hierarchical algorithm is used for making a series of decisions regarding the location of the navigation device, with each decision corresponding to a class among a plurality of classes related to the possible motion modes and/or precise location of the device, including the location of the device with respect to a person's body. By accurately identifying the device location, the hierarchical algorithm facilitates in providing relevant contextual information, thereby enhancing situational awareness.

  • Patent number: 8317622
Abstract: An architecture that employs an internal entity that controls import and export of data (“import/export controller”) and an external entity that operates as a liaison (“data liaison”) between the import/export controller and one or more online social communities allows online social community access in a secure manner. The import/export controller and the data liaison handle data transmissions (e.g., data feeds, data updates, etc.) between the secure entity and the one or more online social communities. The import/export controller applies rules that regulate import and export of data, and the data liaison allows the import/export controller to operate in obscurity. Funneling data transmissions through the import/export controller and the data liaison allows players to securely access an online social community from a wagering game machine while in a wagering game establishment.

  • Patent number: 8321366
Abstract: This document discusses, among other things, a system capable of resolving interactions between programmable parameters for operation of a medical device. Programming these devices is a difficult task when many parameters are involved. The disclosed systems and methods attempt to reduce and minimize constraint violations between interdependent parameters using an initial set of parameter values supplied by user (typically a physician) input or calculated automatically, and constraint violations describing invalid parameter values. If possible, a set of parameter values with less egregious constraint violations is generated and may be displayed to the user. A user is prompted to accept the set of parameter values and program the medical device.

  • Publication number: 20120295339
Abstract: Systems and methods for the detection, analysis, and collection of rare cellular events, wherein rare cellular events are defined by events comprising less than 5% of a total number of cells in a sample. The systems and methods generally include: (1) a flow cell dimensioned so as to permit a flow of a sample through the flow cell at a flow rate greater than 300,000 cells per second; (2) a laser positioned to emit a laser beam directed to the flow cell; (3) one or more deflector components disposed between the laser and the flow cell, wherein the deflector component is configured to affect a position of the laser beam relative to the sample flow; (4) one or more fluorescence emission detectors; and (5) one or more processor configured to detect rare cellular events based on fluorescence emission from cell-binding surface markers introduced into the sample prior to the sample being flowed through the flow cell.

  • Patent number: 8316339
Abstract: A leakage power optimization system optimizes leakage power of a circuit design which includes a set of logic gates. The system selects a leakage-power-reducing transformation for a logic gate, and determines a zone around the logic gate. This zone includes logic gates within a first predetermined number of levels in the logic gate's fan-out, the logic gate's fan-in, and a second predetermined number of levels in the logic gate's fan-in's fan-out. The system propagates arrival times within the zone to obtain updated slack values at endpoints of the zone. Then, in response to determining that the updated slack values at the endpoints of the zone do not degrade one or more circuit timing metrics, the system applies the leakage-power-reducing transformation to the logic gate.

  • Publication number: 20120286149
Abstract: A method for milling of a workpiece of inert material by nanodroplet beam sputtering includes the steps of providing aliquid; electrohydrodynamically atomizing the liquid to form charged nanodroplets; and directing the atomized charged nanodroplets onto the workpiece to selectively remove material. The method is used for broad-beam milling the workpiece of inert material, for precision micromachining and/or for three dimensionally profiling organic samples via secondary ion mass spectrometry. The liquid is electrosprayed in a cone-jet mode in a vacuum and average nanodroplet diameter, nanodroplet velocity, and molecular energy of the nanodroplets is adjusted by changing liquid flow rate and the acceleration voltage applied to the ionic liquid as it is atomized. Apparatus for performing the method are also included embodiments.
