  • Patent number: 8241483
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of stable iodate-exchanged hydrotalcite with zero effluent discharge. The iodate-exchanged hydrotalcite produced is useful as iodizing agent. The invention further relates to utilization of alkaline effluent generated in the process of ion exchange of iodate into SHT so as to fully recycle the residual iodate anion and also utilize the alkali generated in the process for production of additional quantities of iodate through reaction with iodine crystals followed by electrochemical oxidation to obtain pure aqueous solution of iodate salt which can be reused for preparation of the stable iodizing agent. The process gives zero effluent discharge hence economical.

  • Publication number: 20120203888
Abstract: A cloud statistics server generates statistics for a cloud service based on an identified data item and an identified operation. The cloud service may include various computing nodes and storage nodes. The cloud statistics may include expected completion times for the identified operation and the identified data item with respect to each of the computing nodes. A computing node may be selected to execute the identified operation based on the expected completion times. The generated statistics may be generated by the cloud statistics server using a network topology associated with the data item that is based on the latencies or expected transfer times between the various storage nodes and computing nodes, and a replication strategy used by the cloud service. The topology may be implemented as a directed graph with edge weights corresponding to expected transfer times between each node.

  • Patent number: 8239800
Abstract: Some embodiments provide techniques and systems for determining a change indicator for an endpoint, a pathgroup, a design, and/or a flow. The system can determine base critical path delays and base slacks for the endpoints in a base implementation of the circuit design. The system can then determine the new critical path delays and new slacks for the endpoints in a new implementation of the circuit design. Next, the system determines slack differences for the endpoints using the new slacks and the base slacks. Finally, for each endpoint, the system can determine an endpoint change indicator using the associated slack difference, the base critical path delay, and the new critical path delay. A pathgroup change indicator can be determined using endpoint change indicators. A design change indicator can be determined using pathgroup change indicators or scenario change indicators. A design flow change indicator can be determined using design change indicators.

  • Patent number: 8233499
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for controlling the transfer of terminal server data. In some embodiments, contending request to send terminal server data are resolved by a flow control module situated between a terminal server protocol and a transport/network protocol. The flow control module utilizes channel priorities along with amounts of previously sent data per channel to determine how to distribute bandwidth in a relatively controlled manner between contending channels. The flow control module can be configured to intercept communication between terminal server protocol and a transport/network protocol to facilitate bandwidth distribution. In other embodiments, data is simultaneously sent over multiple channels of terminal server connection. A first write operation obtains a lock on a corresponding channel but the channel lock does not prevent write operations on other channels.

  • Publication number: 20120191809
Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting data are disclosed, In one embodiment a processor-implemented user interface module prompts a user via a graphical user interface to identify or enter data in a first information field and a second information field displayed on the graphical user interface. A processor-implemented data transmitting module automatically commences transmitting data over a network after detecting that the user has completed the identification or entry of data in the first information field and before the user has completed identifying or entering data in the second information field. The user interface module detects that the user has modified the first information field, and the data transmitting module aborts transmitting data over the network in response to detecting that the user has modified the first information field.

  • Publication number: 20120191769
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to permitting client devices that connect remotely to an enterprise network to operate in a site-aware manner. In distributed file systems, files may be replicated in multiple places across a network. Embodiments are directed to providing requesting clients referrals (or paths) to replicas of desired information that are accessible by the requesting client with the least overall “cost” to the client and the network. The present systems and methods allow remote client devices to reliably identify a site with their referral requests so that the referring server(s) may provide site-aware referrals in response to the requests.

  • Patent number: 8226917
Abstract: A reaction-based process has been developed for the selective removal of carbon dioxide (CO2) from a multicomponent gas mixture to provide a gaseous stream depleted in CO2 compared to the inlet CO2 concentration in the stream. The proposed process effects the separation of CO2 from a mixture of gases (such as flue gas/fuel gas) by its reaction with metal oxides (such as calcium oxide). The Calcium based Reaction Separation for CO2 (CaRS—CO2) process consists of contacting a CO2 laden gas with calcium oxide (CaO) in a reactor such that CaO captures the CO2 by the formation of calcium carbonate (CaCOa). Once “spent”, CaCO3 is regenerated by its calcination leading to the formation of fresh CaO sorbent and the evolution of a concentrated stream of CO2. The “regenerated” CaO is then recycled for the further capture of more CO2. This carbonation-calcination cycle forms the basis of the CaRS—CO2 process.

  • Patent number: 8230088
Abstract: A method for remote computer systems management through an FTP Internet connection. A user operating on a remote client issues requests to the host server. These requests are first sent to an FTP server which enforces security measures. Upon authentication, the FTP server issues appropriate commands and then passes these commands on to the operation system of the host server through an FTP transfer. The commands perform standard features of the operation system which are not normally allowable by traditional FTP. Responses are sent back through the FTP server to the original requestor's remote client computer. A web-based management application may be used to provide an intuitive, user-friendly graphical user interface to be operated in conjunction with a web browser on the local client computer. The user submits requests through this web control panel to initiate operations to be executed on the remote operating system of the host server.

  • Patent number: 8227896
Abstract: Nitrogen-doped MgO insulating layers exhibit voltage controlled resistance states, e.g., a high resistance and a low resistance state. Patterned nano-devices on the 100 nm scale show highly reproducible switching characteristics. The voltage levels at which such devices are switched between the two resistance levels can be systematically lowered by increasing the nitrogen concentration. Similarly, the resistance of the high resistance state can be varied by varying the nitrogen concentration, and decreases by orders of magnitude by varying the nitrogen concentrations by a few percent. On the other hand, the resistance of the low resistance state is nearly insensitive to the nitrogen doping level. The resistance of single Mg50O50-xNx layer devices can be varied over a wide range by limiting the current that can be passed during the SET process. Associated data storage devices can be constructed.
