  • Publication number: 20130076731
Abstract: A system and method for a pre-print, three-dimensional virtual rendering of a print piece is disclosed. A plurality of modular/pipelined architectural layers are managed, operated, and organized by a controller. A product definition is provided to a job ticket adaptation layer where it is transformed into a physical model. The physical model is then transformed into a display model via the product model layer. The display model is transformed into a scene that can be displayed on a graphical user interface as a three dimensional virtual rendering by a rendering layer, where the rendering includes one or more binding elements to satisfy the product definition. The modularity further enables different product description formats to be supported by only altering the job ticket adaptation layer, and that different graphics rendering engines can be supported by altering only the rendering layer.

  • Publication number: 20130076915
Abstract: Reference free tracking of position by a mobile platform is performed using images of a planar surface. Tracking is performed optical flow techniques, such as pyramidal Lucas-Kanade optical flow with multiple levels of resolution, where displacement is determined with pixel accuracy at lower resolutions and at sub-pixel accuracy at full resolution, which improves computation time for real time performance. Periodic drift correction is performed by matching features between a current frame and a keyframe. The keyframe may be replaced with the drift corrected current image.

  • Publication number: 20130078159
Abstract: A reaction-based process developed for the selective removal of CO2 from a multicomponent gas mixture to provide a gaseous stream depleted in CO2 compared to the inlet CO2 concentration. The proposed process effects the separation of CO2 from a mixture of gases by its reaction with metal oxides. The Calcium based Reaction Separation for CO2 (CaRS-CO2) process consists of contacting CO2 laden gas with CaO in a reactor such that CaO captures CO2 by the formation of CaCO3. CaCO3 is regenerated by calcination leading to the formation of fresh CaO sorbent and the evolution of a concentrated stream of CO2. The “regenerated” CaO is then recycled for the further capture of CO2. This carbonation-calcination cycle forms the basis of the CaRS-CO2 process. This process also may use a mesoporous CaCO3 structure that attains >90% conversion over multiple carbonation and calcination cycles.

  • Patent number: 8407516
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention provides an ability to handle an error occurring during a memory migration operation in a high availability system. In addition, a method can be used to dynamically remap a memory page stored in a non-mirrored memory region of memory to a mirrored memory region. This dynamic remapping may be responsive to a determination that the memory page has been accessed more than a threshold number of times, indicating a criticality of information on the page. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 8407151
Abstract: Embodiments may include a forecasting component that, for each of different service levels offered to customers, generates a projection of the quantity of shipments to be shipped according to that service level during a time period. Based on an aggregate quantity of shipments projected to be shipped, projected quantities of shipments for the multiple service levels may be modified. The forecasting component may, for each service level, receive information specifying a distribution of different shipment methods that are projected to be utilized to ship shipments of a particular priority designation to meet requirements of that service level. Based on the distribution for each service level and the modified projected quantity of shipments for each service level, a forecast specifying quantities of shipments that are to be shipped during the time period according to each of the different shipment methods may be generated.

  • Patent number: 8407403
Abstract: A hybrid storage device uses a write cache such as a hard disk drive, for example, to cache data to a solid state drive (SSD). Data is logged sequentially to the write cache and later migrated to the SSD. The SSD is a primary storage that stores data permanently. The write cache is a persistent durable cache that may store data of disk write operations temporarily in a log structured fashion. A migration policy may be used to determine how long to cache the data in the write cache before migrating the data to the SDD. The migration policy may be implemented using one or more migration triggers that cause the contents of the write cache to be flushed to the SSD. Migration triggers may include a timeout trigger, a read threshold trigger, and a migration size trigger, for example.
