  • Patent number: 4960994
Abstract: A cassette for an x-ray film coated with a stimulable phosphor layer is formed so that a cassette memory which carries storable, recordable, readable and erasable data is rigidly attached to the cassette at the positioned spaced a predetermined distance from a given cassette corner. This position is the same for all cassettes of the same type and different formats.

  • Patent number: 4947419
Abstract: A cassette for x-ray film has a cover and a bottom. A magnetic sheet is secured to the cover and a fluorescent screen is, in turn, secured to the magnetic sheet. A ferromagnetic foil is mounted on the bottom of the cassette and carries a second fluorescent screen. When a sheet of film is inserted in the cassette and the cassette is closed, the film is flanked by the fluorescent screens, which, in turn, are flanked by the magnetic sheet and the ferromagnetic foil. The magnetic sheet and ferromagentic foil are attracted to one another and thereby urge the fluorescent screens into engagement with the film. The ferromagnetic foil is mounted on the bottom of the cassette via connecting elements which permit the ferromagnetic foil to undergo relatively large amounts of movement relative to the bottom of the cassette. In this manner, the ferromagnetic foil can conform to deformation of the cassette.

  • Patent number: 4887284
Abstract: A method of checking the presence or absence of an X-ray sheet film in a cassette inserted into an automatic film unloading or loading apparatus, utilizes a proximity sensor arranged in the apparatus to sense position changes of a sheet film supporting foil which is arranged for a limited movement in the cassette. The proximity sensor is connected to an electronic control device which controls the operational sequence of the unloading and loading apparatus. When the gripping member preferably in the form of a suction cup seizes a sheet film on the supporting means in the cassette, the supporting means remain in its rest position after the sheet film is removed. However, if no film is present on the supporting means, the suction cup seizes the supporting means and displaces the same from its rest position. This change is sensed by the sensor and a signal is delivered to the electronic control circuit which modifies the operational sequence accordingly.

  • Patent number: 4791282
Abstract: An X-ray film cassette has on its top a triangular bar code field readable by a bar code reader of an automatic film sheet charging and discharging apparatus. The bar code field is in the form of an isosceles right triangle whose hypothenuse faces a reference corner and whose legs extend parallel to edges of the cassettes. The bars of the code extend parallel to the hypothenuse. An optical axis of the bar code reader, when the cassette is in its end position in the apparatus, intersects a vertex area formed by the legs of the triangle. This arrangement guarantees that its bar codes on cassettes of small format, even if misaligned in the feeding direction, are reliably read by the reader.

  • Patent number: 4783588
Abstract: An apparatus for automatic charging and discharging an X-ray film sheet into a cassette includes a bar code reader having an illumination device and a rotary scanning mirror. The cassette is provided on its top with a bar code label which irrespective of the format of the cassette is always located at a fixed distance from a leading edge and from a lateral guiding edge of the cassette. The cassette is insertable into an intake compartment and only after the cassette reaches an end position in the compartment a limit switch activates the scanning mirror and the illumination device of the reader, thus eliminating reading errors when reading bar codes on cassettes of different formats.
