  • Publication number: 20190372835
Abstract: Techniques for private network mirroring are described. Users can select one or more existing private networks to be mirrored in the same or different network area. Any network configuration changes made in the selected private network (e.g., “master” private network) can be propagated automatically to the mirror private network. This enables users to utilize resources in another network area for disaster recovery, ensuring that the network configuration of the mirror private network is consistent with the master private network through real-time updates. Additionally, users managing infrastructure that includes multiple private networks can select one master private network and propagate configuration changes to other private networks, reducing management overhead incurred by these multi-private network installations.

  • Publication number: 20190372908
Abstract: Techniques for failover management using availability groups are described. According to some embodiments, customers can define one or more availability groups within their infrastructure. Each availability group may be associated with one or more rules which describe how the availability group should fail over. The availability group definition may define the resources included in the availability group, a target region to fail over to, and capacity reservations for the availability group in the target region. In some embodiments, the definition may also include a replication frequency for storage resources which defines how often data is backed up. Once a customer as created an availability group the customer is then able to either create resources in that availability group or associate already existing resources with the availability group. An availability group management service can ensure that data, capacity reservations and network infrastructure are defined and/or replicated to the target location.

  • Publication number: 20190272483
Abstract: A method and a system for allocating a vehicle to a passenger is provided. A booking request for booking a ride is received from a passenger device of the passenger. Based on the booking request, a first message is transmitted to the passenger device that indicates a confirmation of the booking request without allocating any vehicle to the passenger. The first message includes a code for pairing with one of vehicles in a queue at a pickup area. The passenger provides the code to a driver of a first vehicle from the vehicles in the queue, when the passenger is at the pickup area. The code is received from a driver device of the first vehicle. The code is validated, and the first vehicle is allocated to the passenger for the ride based on successful validation of the code.

  • Publication number: 20190141666
Abstract: A wideband, radio-frequency localization system may estimate the one-dimensional, two-dimensional or three-dimensional position and trajectory of a static or moving object. These estimates may have a high spatial accuracy and low latency. The localization may be determined based on phase or amplitude of a wideband signal in each frequency band in a set of multiple frequency bands. The localization may be based on a single shot of measurements across a wide band of radio frequencies, without frequency hopping. The measurements of the wideband signal may be taken over time and over space at multiple receivers. The localization may be based on measurements taken while a backscatter node remains in a first reflective state or in a second reflective state, rather than when the backscatter node is transitioning between reflective states. In some cases, the localization achieves sub-centimeter spatial resolution in each of three spatial dimensions.

  • Publication number: 20190097957
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system for peer to peer communication is provided. The embodiment may include receiving a message from a first user intended for a second. It may include determining whether the second user is in a do not disturb (DND) state. It may also include overriding the DND state of the second user. Overriding the DND state may include receiving static message information and user characteristics. Overriding the DND state may include determining if a critical situation (critsit) exists. Overriding the DND state may include determining a message critsit value for the users. Overriding the DND state may include adding the first user and the second to a critsit users list. The embodiment may include overriding the DND state of the second user if both users are on the same list. The embodiment may include transmitting messages from the first user to the second user.

  • Publication number: 20180355284
Abstract: Nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs) have been used as surfactants in a wide variety of household products and industrial applications. Despite their effectiveness as surfactants, NPEs can accumulate in the environment and adversely affect aquatic organisms. The dispersants of the present disclosure can be used to disperse oil and/or microbes while avoiding the adverse effects of NPEs. Oil and microbial fouling is of particular concern in refinery cooling towers where the water may be contaminated with oil and microbial growth can cause cooling inefficiencies among other problems. The dispersant may include an oil dispersant comprising a C6-C20 alcohol ethoxylate, a bio-dispersant comprising a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, and 2-butoxyethanol. The oil dispersant, the bio-dispersant, and the 2-butoxyethanol form a dispersant solution, and the solution does not include a nonylphenol ethoxylate.
