  • Patent number: 7522446
Abstract: A method for making magnetic random access memories (MRAM) which reduces heat conduction from memory cells in an MRAM array. The method uses grid of bit and word lines for selectively accessing data in the array of magnetic memory cells. The grid has a plurality of thermally and electrically resistive portions which provide connections to the magnetic memory cells. The resistive portions increase the thermal resistance for heat generated by each memory cell and during operation provide localized heating of active memory cells to ease cell state switching.

  • Publication number: 20090099939
Abstract: This disclosure describes, generally, methods and systems for dynamically counting down to an on-line auction end time. The method includes initiating a countdown clock with an end time that corresponds to the on-line auction end time, and accessing an auction server to obtain data used to refresh a current time of the countdown clock. The auction server is accessed at an incrementally faster refresh rate as the on-line auction end time is approached. The method further includes presenting, based on the refresh data obtained from accessing the auction server, an updated countdown clock.

  • Patent number: 7517600
Abstract: A control system for a fuel cell stack that controls the relative humidity of the cathode outlet gas during stack power transients to provide better cathode outlet gas relative humidity control by reducing the dynamic pressure range and thus the dynamic cathode outlet gas relative humidity range. In one embodiment, the control system uses a first narrower cathode pressure range based on stack current density during stack power transients to provide better cathode outlet gas relative humidity control, and uses a second wider cathode pressure range based on stack current density during low current density and steady-state current density to improve system efficiency by decreasing compressor parasitics.

  • Publication number: 20090091572
Abstract: A method for graphically presenting auction information. Characteristics of an auction for an item are received, wherein the characteristics comprise a target price for the item and a close time of the auction. The auction is then published to at least one bidder. At least one bid is received at a bid time, wherein the bid comprises a price for the item. A graphical presentation of status of the auction is generated, presenting auction information. The graphical presentation comprises a first axis and a second axis, wherein the bid is plotted as a point within the graphical presentation where the first axis corresponds to the bid time and the second axis corresponds to the price. New bids received are automatically plotted in real-time.

  • Publication number: 20090094491
Abstract: A system (such as a process control system or communication system) includes one or more sources of configuration data (such as one or more BootP or DHCP servers). A testing mechanism transmits one or more requests for configuration data over a network. One or more sources of configuration data may respond to the requests, such as by providing configuration data (like IP addresses or NTP parameters) to the testing mechanism. The testing mechanism uses the response(s) to identify problems with the sources of configuration data. For example, if responses are received from multiple sources of configuration data, the testing mechanism could generate a notification indicating that a problem exists when the responses contain inconsistent configuration data. Also, if no responses are received, the testing mechanism could generate a notification indicating that a problem exists since no configuration data has been received. Any other or additional problems could also be detected.

  • Patent number: 7515261
Abstract: Provided is a system for characterizing biological/chemical test specimens. In particular, a container such as a tube or capillary for containing a test specimen is interconnected at one end to a light source via a fiber optic. A second end of the tube is connected to a detector via a second fiber optic. In one embodiment, the containing tube exhibits “total internal reflection”. As light is projected into the tube, one or more electric fields are applied to the specimen. Light travels the length of the tube to excite specimen molecules, which subsequently emit light having a wavelength longer than that of the projected light. The emitted light travels the length of the tube, is detected, and is then transmitted to a processor for analysis. In an alternate embodiment, the tube is not TIR therefore emitted light exits the tube along its length, wherein it is detected by one or more detectors.

  • Patent number: 7516369
Abstract: A method and computer program product for error monitoring partitions in a computer system. A partition status buffer (PSB) denotes a status (GOOD, BAD, NOCARE) of each partition of at least two partitions. The BAD status denotes that the partition has encountered at least one error that is currently unrepaired. A global supervisor mapping (GSM) associates each partition (designated as a supervised partition) with a supervisor partition in a one-to-one mapping. The supervisor partition determines its supervised partition from the GSM and ascertains the status of its supervised partition from the PSB. If the status of the supervised partition is BAD then the supervisor partition performs a recovery procedure. The recovery procedure: obtains a grant of access to physical and logical resources of the supervised partition which contains error data of the supervised partition; gathers the error data; sets the status of the supervised partition to the NOCARE status.

  • Patent number: 7516370
Abstract: A method, computer system, and computer program product for error monitoring partitions in the computer system. Provided to each partition is a partition status indicator (PSI) denoting a RUNNING or FAIL status of the partition. During booting, it is ascertained whether each partition has the RUNNING or FAIL status, and the PSI of each partition is accordingly set to the RUNNING status or the FAIL status, respectively. An error procedure performed for each first partition whose partition status indicator indicates the FAIL status includes: copying each error entry in the ELA of the first partition whose ESI indicates the UNREAD status into the ELA of a second (running) partition; setting the ESI to the READ status for each copied error entry in the ELA of the first partition; and having the ESI set to the UNREAD status for each copied error entry in the ELA of the second partition.
