  • Patent number: 7450725
Abstract: An active noise cancellation system (20) includes digital modeling of the physical path that is compensated for using a digital filter (34). An initial estimate of the time domain response of the system (20) is achieved using inverse time domain convolution to determine the signal values of a speaker (24) and a microphone (26) in the system. The estimated time domain response of the system is used to determine the initial estimate of the modeled digital filter. In one example, the initial estimate is then used as part of a convergence technique, such as a least mean squares algorithm. In another example, a plurality of initial estimates are determined and then averaged to arrive at the filter value used during noise cancellation.

  • Publication number: 20080276056
Abstract: Systems and methods for writing and/or reading data to a point-to-point shared memory communication mechanism are provided according to embodiments disclosed herein. According to one embodiment, a determination may be made whether a first memory location in the cache of a general purpose multi-core processor includes an empty symbol. If the first memory location includes the empty symbol, then data may be placed in the first memory location in the cache. If the first memory location does not include the empty symbol, then waiting until it does. In another embodiment, a determination may be made whether a first memory location of a general purpose multi-core processor includes the empty symbol. If it does not, then data may be read from the first memory location and/or the empty symbol may be written into the first memory location. If the first memory location does include the empty symbol, then pausing.

  • Patent number: 7446873
Abstract: A wafer may be aligned with an imaging plate including an alignment grating with a pitch P. A pupil filter in the pupil plane of the optical system may be used so that the periodicity of the intensity of light from the alignment grating is less than P at the wafer plane. Thus, an alignment pattern on the wafer having a pitch smaller than the pitch of the alignment grating may be used. For example, the intensity periodicity at the wafer plane may be P/2. In an implementation, a pupil filter may be sized and positioned to block a zero-th order maximum of light transmitted through the alignment grating at the pupil plane. The pupil filter may be sized and positioned to allow first order maxima of the light to pass. The alignment system may be used with transmission or reflection optics.

  • Publication number: 20080269411
Abstract: Coating compositions are provided which may be applied from aqueous systems and contain binders which are autoxidisable to produce rapid drying hard coatings, preferred binders are based on polymers derived from monomers obtained by the reaction of drying oil fatty acids and unsaturated monomers. The polymers contain microgels, have low Tg and contain residual unsaturation; preferred copolymers also contain amide groups. The drying of the coating compositions can be accelerated by the use of metal dryers and have been found to enable the use of particularly low levels of vanadium dryers.

  • Publication number: 20080271004
Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system, and program product for optimizing a distributed (software) application are provided. Specifically, a configuration of a target computing environment, in which the distributed application is deployed, is discovered upon deployment of the distributed application. Thereafter, based on a set of rules and the discovered configuration, one or more optimization techniques are applied to optimize the distributed application. • Publication number: 20080270446
Abstract: A method and system for providing listings of multimedia events and for allowing a user to create virtual channels from the listings is described. The user can specify a headend or zip code and enter a search query to find multimedia events that are of interest to the user. In response, the system provides a list of multimedia events as the results of the user's search query. If the user so desires, the user can create a virtual channel based on the search results, according to certain embodiments of the invention.

  • Patent number: 7443563
Abstract: A package is made of a transparent substrate having an interferometric modulator and a back plate. A non-hermetic seal joins the back plate to the substrate to form a package, and a desiccant resides inside the package. A method of packaging an interferometric modulator includes providing a transparent substrate and manufacturing an interferometric modulator array on a backside of the substrate. A back plate is provided and a desiccant is applied to the back plate. The back plate is sealed to the backside of the substrate with a back seal in ambient conditions, thereby forming a package.

  • Patent number: 7442487
Abstract: A series structure of a chemically amplified negative tone photoresist that is not based on cross-linking chemistry is herein described. The photoresist may comprise: a first aromatic structure copolymerized with a cycloolefin, wherein the cycloolefin is functionalized with a di-ol. The photoresist may also include a photo acid generator (PAG). When at least a portion of the negative tone photoresist is exposed to light (EUV or UV radiation), the PAG releases an acid, which reacts with the functionalized di-ol to rearrange into a ketone or aldehyde. Then new ketone or aldehyde is less soluble in developer solution, resulting in a negative tone photoresist.

  • Publication number: 20080262549
Abstract: An exemplary method for constraining spinous processes to elastically limit flexion of a spinal segment comprises piercing an interspinous ligament to form a first penetration above an upper side of an upper spinous process and advancing a first end of a first tether through the first penetration. The interspinous ligament is pierced again to form a second penetration below a lower side of a lower spinous process and a second end of a second tether is advanced through the second penetration. Joining the first and second tethers together forms an extensible tether structure coupling the upper and lower spinous processes together while permitting extension therebetween. Adjusting the tether structure sets relative distance or angle between the upper and lower spinous processes to a target value.

  • Publication number: 20080258915
Abstract: A method for determining locations in a predefined area for placing a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader in order to obtain a full coverage of the predefined area is provided. The method includes arranging a plurality of hexagonal area to form a combined area until the total area of the combined area is equal or larger than the predefined area, aligning the predefined area within the combined area, and determining the hexagonal area which is fully or partially covered by the predefined area. Each hexagonal area represents an area of coverage of the RFID reader, and the center of the hexagonal area which is determined to be fully or partially covered by the predefined area corresponds to one of the locations for placing the RFID reader.
