  • Publication number: 20090251761
Abstract: A microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) display element may include a photovoltaic structure configured to generate electric energy from incident light. In one embodiment, the display element includes a first layer that is at least partially transmissive of light, a second layer that is at least partially reflective of light, and a photovoltaic element that is formed on the first layer or the second layer or formed between the first layer and the second layer. The second layer is spaced from the first layer and is selectably movable between a first position in which the display element has a first reflectivity and a second position in which the display element has a second reflectivity. The first reflectivity is greater than the second reflectivity. The photovoltaic element is at least partially absorptive of light and is configured to convert a portion of the absorbed light into electric energy, at least when the second layer is in the second position.

  • Publication number: 20090253801
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of achieving a novel Propafenone formulation, which will have reduced number dosings and improved bioavailability. The present invention also applies to the salt and active metabolites of the parent and pro-drug. The novel compositions are designed to release Propafenone after oral intake in a manner, which enables absorption to take place in the gastrointestinal tract so that a relatively fast peak plasma concentration of the active is obtained. The time-specific pharmaceutical formulation, the disintegration of which is triggered by time lapse and the pH of the environment to which it is subjected. The novel compositions are also designed for administration once or twice daily. i.e. a therapeutically effective concentration of Propafenone is maintained for a period of at least 10-20 hours.

  • Publication number: 20090254331
Abstract: Embodiments of a computer system for simulating a circuit are described. During a first mode of the simulation, the computer system stores primary signals and circuit relationships between primary signals and secondary signals associated with a portion of the circuit in a file, where the primary signals are independent of gate outputs in the portion of the circuit, and the secondary signals are driven by gates in the portion of the circuit. Moreover, during a second mode of the simulation, the computer system stores dynamic changes in additional relationships between signals to the file, where the signals can include primary signals, secondary signals, or both.

  • Publication number: 20090254893
Abstract: A mechanism and functionality are provided for generating and using compiler optimized function variants. These variants may be used, for example, in situations where return values of functions called by code are not thereafter used by the code calling the functions. In particular, for a function called by computer code, at least two variants for the function may be generated. A function call, for calling the function, within original computer code may be analyzed to determine which variant of the at least two variants to use for the function call. The function call may be modified in the original computer code, to generate modified computer code, based on results of the analysis identifying which variant of the at least two variants to use for the function call.

  • Publication number: 20090254877
Abstract: Software system facts comprising concepts, concept instances and relationships within the software system are identified and stored in a repository. The software system facts are extracted from artifacts comprising the software system or are provided through explicit definition. Architectures of the software system are recovered from the stored software system facts. Layered views of the recovered architectures are generated. The stored software system facts are checked against architectural rules to ensure architectural compliance of the software system. The impact of proposed changes to the software system is assessed by querying the identified software system facts.

  • Publication number: 20090242024
Abstract: An interferometric mask covers reflective conductors on the back side of a photovoltaic device. Such an interferometric mask may reduce reflections of incident light from the conductors. In various embodiments, the mask reduces reflections, so that a front and back electrode pattern appears black or similar in color to surrounding features of the device. In other embodiments, the mask may modulate reflections of light such that the electrode pattern matches a color in the visible spectrum.

  • Publication number: 20090247091
Abstract: A method and apparatus of selecting which of a plurality of receiver chains of a mobile unit to receive wireless signals, is disclosed. One method includes measuring a first receive signal quality while all of the plurality of receiver chains are receiving wireless signals, and measuring a second receive signal quality while a subset of the plurality of receiver chains are receiving wireless signals. The subset of the plurality of receiver chains are selected to receive wireless signal unless the first receive signal quality is a threshold better than the second receive signal quality. If the first receive signal quality is a threshold better than the second receive signal quality then all the plurality of receiver chains are selected to receive wireless signals.

  • Patent number: 7590093
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method to condition removal of a carrier frequency from a wireless coverage area. The method involves evaluating handoff statistics for the coverage area, and applying results of past carrier frequency removal (preferably from a morphologically similar cluster) to predict a net change in hard handoffs that will result if the carrier frequency is removed. The method then involves using the predicted net change in hard handoffs as a basis to determine whether to remove the carrier frequency. The predicted net change in hard handoffs may be converted to a corresponding predicted net change in call drops, and the carrier frequency may be removed only if the predicted net change in call drops does not exceed a threshold.

  • Patent number: 7583609
Abstract: The present invention includes a method of optimizing a transmission mode of wirelessly transmitted data. The method includes selecting a first transmission mode based on a predetermined channel database and a first channel characterization. The first channel characterization can be based upon signals transmitted in an initial mode. An error factor is generated based on a difference between an estimated performance characteristic, and an expected performance characteristic. A subsequent transmission mode is selected based upon the predetermined channel database, the error factor and a subsequent channel characterization. The predetermined channel database can include a predetermined look-up-table that provides transmission mode selections based upon the channel characterizations. The look-up-table generally includes a plurality of quality parameter thresholds that determine the selection of a transmission mode.
