  • Publication number: 20070008352
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting a spacing between a printhead and a print medium in a printer is provided. The printhead is mounted in a carriage which is slidable along a guiding rod. The apparatus includes a first and second assembly for adjusting a position of a first and second portion of the carriage, respectively. The second assembly includes a camshaft attached to and slidable with respect to the carriage, one or more cams attached to the camshaft, and a bushing member. A first surface of the bushing member abuts a predefined profile of the cam, and a second surface of the bushing member abuts the guiding rod. The sliding of the camshaft with respect to the carriage causes a distance between the bushing member and the camshaft to vary according to the predefined profile of the cam. Accordingly, the spacing between the printhead and the print medium is adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20070011672
Abstract: A software application can be installed under one operating system, and accessed for execution by a second operating system compatible with the first operating system by identifying and making appropriate changes to system parameters in the second operating system. The two operating systems may be installed on the same of different machines. A record can be made of changes in system parameters that are made upon installation of the software application in the first operating system as a basis for making appropriate changes in the system parameters of the second operating system to allow the software application to be accessed for execution from the second operating system.

  • Patent number: 7160341
Abstract: A temperature control system and method controls temperatures of front and back ends of a shift reactor. Front and back end temperature sensors sense temperatures of the front and back ends of the shift reactor and generate front and back end temperature signals. An actuator injects fluid into the front end of the shift reactor. A controller communicates with the front end temperature sensor, the back end temperature sensor and the actuator and controls the temperature of the front end and the back end. The controller includes primary and secondary control loops. The secondary control loop communicates with the back end temperature sensor. The primary control loop communicates with the front end temperature sensor. The secondary control loop generates a temperature setpoint for the primary control loop. The secondary control loop has a slower response time that the primary control loop.

  • Patent number: 7161728
Abstract: A light modulator is arranged as an array of rows and columns of interferometric display elements. Each element is divided into sub-rows of sub-elements. Array connection lines transmit operating signals to the display elements, with one connection line corresponding to one row of display elements in the array. Sub-array connection lines electrically connect to each array connection line. Switches transmit the operating signals from each array connection line to the sub-rows to effect gray scale modulation.

  • Publication number: 20070002911
Abstract: Alignment of a laser apparatus is achieved by actively aligning components of the laser apparatus and then passively deriving an optical axis from that alignment. This passive derivation can be achieved by identifying features of an actively aligned optical element, deriving positional data for those features, and developing an optical axis from that positional data. The derivation of positional data may be performed over a particular coordinate system of an image taken of the feature, e.g., obtained by a vision system. The positional data and optical axis may be extrapolated out to a reference coordinate system for use in passively aligning other optical elements.

  • Publication number: 20070000553
Abstract: A papermaking fabric having a top layer and a bottom layer of interwoven machine direction (MD) yarns and cross-machine direction (CD) yarns bound together with warp binder yarns. At least some of the CD yarns are made of a material which generates a strong contractive force when returned to room temperature after heat-setting (annealing under MD tension). These CD yarns are positioned such that the strong contractive force offsets tension forces generated when the fabric is placed under load and which typically result in an edge curl. An exemplary material for these CD yarns is polybutylene terephthalate (PBT).

  • Publication number: 20060294503
Abstract: Code coverage analysis for uncompiled code, such as scripts, is performed by instrumenting the scripts with log statements, executing the scripts, and analyzing the scripts. The log statements are appended to discrete blocks of the scripts during the instrumenting and are executed when the corresponding scripts are executed. The log statements cause logs to be written to a log file when the corresponding blocks are executed. The log file is subsequently compared to the original scripts to determine what portion and percentages of the code have been executed. Code coverage data is presented in a variety of formats to the user.

  • Publication number: 20060291419
Abstract: A multi-mode mobile station includes a first interface for wireless communication with a wireless local area network (WLAN) and a second interface for wireless communication with a wireless wide area network (WWAN). The multi-mode mobile station may become engaged in one or more communication sessions via a first wireless network. Session information regarding these one or more communication sessions is stored in a storage system. In response to a handoff request, a control sytem evaluates the session information to determine which of the communication sessions, if any, can be continued via the second wireless network, in accordance with a policy. The user may be notified of any sessions that can not be continued via the second wireless network and/or continued at a reduced level of performance. If the user opts to complete the handoff, continuable sessions are continued via the second wireless network and non-continuable sessions are dropped.
