  • Publication number: 20060066601
Abstract: Embodiments includes methods and systems for updating display devices at a variable refresh rate. One embodiment includes a method of updating an image displayed on a display device. The method includes setting an indicator to a first state that indicates that image data has been received subsequent to a previous update of a display device and periodically updating at least a portion of the display device to display the image. The updating is deferred for at least one period when the indicator is in a state other than the first state. In another embodiment, updates of the display are substantially asynchronous and occur as the processor writes data to one or more shift registers. When a shift register is filled, for example, having received data for a row within the display, the data in the shift register is written to the display. Other embodiments include methods of manufacturing such devices.

  • Publication number: 20060067641
Abstract: A package structure and method of packaging for an interferometric modulator. A thin film material is deposited over an interferometric modulator and transparent substrate to encapsulate the interferometric modulator. A gap or cavity between the interferometric modulator and the thin film provides a space in which mechanical parts of the interferometric modulator may move. The gap is created by removal of a sacrificial layer that is deposited over the interferometric modulator.

  • Publication number: 20060066339
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems for computing, analyzing, and improving integrated circuit yield and quality are disclosed herein. For example, in one exemplary method disclosed herein, information is received from processing test responses of integrated circuits designed for functional use in electronic devices. In this embodiment, the information is indicative of integrated circuit failures observed during testing of the integrated circuits and of possible yield limiting factors causing the integrated circuit failures. Probabilities that one or more of the possible yield limiting factors in the integrated circuits actually caused the integrated circuit failures are determined by statistically analyzing the received information. The probabilities that one or more possible yield limiting factors actually caused the integrated circuit failures are reported.

  • Publication number: 20060053270
Abstract: A system comprises non-volatile storage, a read only memory (ROM) that contains an executable BIOS and a CPU communicatively coupled to the non-volatile storage and the ROM. The non-volatile storage contains user data, an executable capture application, a first operating system contained within a non-volatile storage partition, and a partition file that contains a second operating system. The partition file is also included with the non-volatile storage partition. The capture application executes under the first operating system and causes the CPU to store at least some user data in said partition file. The system may also include a user input control and, upon activation of the user input control, the CPU loads the second operating system from the partition file and provides the user access to the user data via a viewer application that runs under the second operating system.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems for testing, analyzing, and improving integrated circuit yield and quality are disclosed herein. For example, in one exemplary embodiment, design defect extraction rules are derived at least partially from a set of design manufacturing rules. Potential defects are extracted from a representation of an integrated circuit layout using the design defect extraction rules. Circuit test stimuli applied during one or more circuit tests are determined. Test responses resulting from the applied circuit tests are evaluated to identify integrated circuits that fail and to identify the occurrence in the failing integrated circuits of one or more potential types of defects associated with the applied circuit tests.

  • Publication number: 20060044928
Abstract: Embodiments of exemplary MEMS interferometric modulators are arranged at intersections of rows and columns of electrodes. In certain embodiments, the column electrode has a lower electrical resistance than the row electrode. A driving circuit applies a potential difference of a first polarity across electrodes during a first phase and then quickly transition to applying a bias voltage having a polarity opposite to the first polarity during a second phase. In certain embodiments, an absolute value of the difference between the voltages applied to the row electrode is less than an absolute value of the difference between the voltages applied to the column electrode during the first and second phases.

  • Patent number: 7006500
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems facilitating the aggregation or bonding of communications paths into a higher-bandwidth, logical communications path. Embodiments of the present invention can be applied to bond different physical links (e.g., xDSL over twisted pairs), different channels on the same physical line, or even different channels or frequencies in a wireless communications network. The present invention further provides methods, apparatuses and systems facilitating the re-sequencing of data flows transmitted across bonded communications paths. In one embodiment, the re-sequencing methodology of the present invention adapts to the transmission delays (both absolute and relative) across the bonded communications path.
