  • Patent number: 7210122
Abstract: A computer system and method for compiling a program, where the program executes pointer assignments from a source object to a destination object, each source object being addressable through a first pointer and each destination object being addressable through a second pointer. The system and method eliminate write barrier code from association with compiled program code when the first pointer points to a source object whose type is prolific, eliminate write barrier code from association with compiled program code when the second pointer points to a destination object whose type is non-prolific, and associate write barrier code with compiled program code when the source object is non-prolific and the destination object is prolific. Additionally, the system and method can determine not to associate write barrier code with a compiled program code if the second pointer points to a destination object whose type is non-prolific and if the first pointer points to a source object whose type is prolific.

  • Patent number: 7208747
Abstract: According to an embodiment of the invention, an adjustable EUV light source may be used for photolithography. The EUV light source, such as an electrode, is mounted in an adjustable housing. The housing can be adjusted to change the distance between the light source and focusing mirrors, which in turn changes the partial coherence value of the system. The partial coherence value can be changed to print different types of semiconductor features.

  • Publication number: 20070089042
Abstract: A resynchronization method for use in a data communication system having a first device configured to transmit data at a symbol rate to a second device. The second device includes a Reed Solomon (RS) decoder having a RS lock indicator and a Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) Protocol Interface (MPI) having a MPI lock indicator, wherein the RS and MPI lock indicators are monitored. Four different states, defined by the values of the RS and MPI lock indicators, determine whether the data communication system will wait for the RS decoded and the MPI hardware block to resynchronize, whether an intermediate-subset of the channel acquisition algorithm is performed or whether the entire channel acquisition algorithm is performed. The method of resynchronization described herein recovers synchronization within a predetermined time without the layers above the physical link layer having knowledge.

  • Publication number: 20070086378
Abstract: A technique for wireless network monitoring involves scanning channels using clients instead of access points. An example of a method according to the technique may include, for example, receiving from a wireless access point a command to perform a channel scanning function, listening on a channel associated with the channel scanning function, and sending RF data found on the channel to the wireless access point. Another example of a method according to the technique may include, for example, scanning a first channel, switching from the first channel to a second channel, sending data on the second channel to an access point, switching from the second channel to the first channel, and resuming scanning on the first channel. A system according to the technique may include one or more scanning clients, proxy clients, multi-channel clients, or other clients that are capable of scanning channels in lieu of an access point.

  • Publication number: 20070086398
Abstract: A technique for identity based networking is disclosed. A system according to the technique can include a WAN, a first VLAN, a second VLAN, and a network database. The first VLAN and second VLAN can be coupled to the WAN. The network database can include VLAN information. In operation, a client that is authorized on the second VLAN can attempt to connect to the first VLAN. A switch in the WAN can perform a lookup in the network database and determine that the client is authorized on the second VLAN. Based on this information, the client can be connected to the second VLAN using VLAN tunneling.

  • Patent number: 7204416
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods which provide for scanning of information, such as characters or symbols, without requiring a controlled scan velocity. Preferred embodiments utilize an optical sensor in detecting attributes of information scanned and implement compensation techniques to remediate the effects of distortion and present information which may be identified to a high level of confidence. A known topology may be relied upon to present known markers in the scanned information, such as known blank or filled regions, patterns, or other observable traits and utilized with respect to a distorted scanned image to compensate for the effects of the distortion. Additionally or alternatively, vector based pattern recognition may be utilized in remediating distortion of a scanned image.

  • Patent number: 7206593
Abstract: A mobile station in a wireless network can be assigned a priority level. The wireless network may support two or more different priority levels. A mobile station's priority level may be stored in a database containing other identifiers, such as the mobile station's electronic serial number and mobile identification number. The priority level can be stored as a part of a profile in the home location register or in a visitor location register. When the mobile station attempt to access the wireless network, the access request can be serviced based on the priority of the mobile station. The access request may also be serviced based on a current usage status of the wireless telecommunications network. Mobile stations with higher priorities may receive a preference for access to the wireless network's resources. Mobile stations with lower priorities may be disconnected from the wireless network to accommodate a higher priority mobile station.

  • Publication number: 20070082235
Abstract: A system and method for providing dynamic cathode stoichiometry control in a fuel cell during stack load transients to minimize relative humidity excursions. Particularly, changes in the cathode stoichiometry is controlled as a function of time in response to a decrease or increase in stack current density. Thus, if the stack current density drops to a predetermined current density, the dynamic stoichiometry logic will monitor the low power condition and determine if the condition is sustained, i.e., for an extended period of time. If the low power condition is not sustained, then the cathode stoichiometry does not change, but if it is sustained, then the cathode stoichiometry is increased. The same delay in changing the cathode stoichiometry can be provided for a transition from a low power condition to a high power condition.

  • Publication number: 20070076808
Abstract: Gain variations during a packet can lead to significant performance degradation in communications systems that use high order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). A method and the associated apparatus track such variations in an OFDM system and completely eliminate any performance degradation. Gain estimation and compensation is employed with the use of pilot subcarriers in the payload of an OFDM data packet. Estimated pilot magnitude ratios are averaged, throughout the processing life of a packet, to yield accurate gain estimations. A gain compensation factor is used to adjust data carriers. An exclusion method is also employed to eliminate pilot carriers which contribute to noise.

  • Publication number: 20070076209
Abstract: The disclosure describes an absorption spectroscopy method for sensing hydrogen gas in a sample atmosphere and an associated hydrogen sensor. A light beam, having a wavelength corresponding to a vibrational transition of hydrogen molecules from a ground vibration state to any excited rotational vibration state via a quadrupole interaction, is introduced into an optical cavity adapted to receive a sample atmosphere to be tested for the presence of hydrogen gas. The light is introduced into the cavity in an off-axis alignment to systematically eliminate cavity resonances, while preserving the absorption signal amplifying properties of such cavities. Hydrogen absorption is measured is terms of cavity output, as in the ICOS technique.
