  • Patent number: 7065771
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating interactions between two or more entities where the entities have different versions of a data type is provided. The system includes a data type identifier that can identify whether interacting entities have a mismatched resolvable data type and a data type resolver that can resolve the data types by employing features appearing in the different resolvable data types that are common between the data types. The system employs a resolvable data type that includes attributes, methods and metadata, where the metadata describes the resolvable data type, its attributes and/or its methods. The resolvable data type may be associated with a proxy. The resolvable data type may also be adapted to be incrementally extended on an as-needed basis.

  • Patent number: 7065051
Abstract: The invention includes an apparatus and method for wirelessly transmitting data between a plurality of subscriber units and a base transceiver station. The method includes at least one subscriber unit transmitting a request to send data blocks to the base transceiver station. The request includes a data transmission queue size value. A base user queue size estimate is updated at the base transceiver station. The base user queue size estimate corresponds to the one subscriber unit that transmitted the request to send data. The base user queue size estimate is based upon the data transmission queue size value. The base transceiver station generates a schedule that includes time slots and frequency blocks in which the requested data blocks are to be transmitted from the one subscriber unit to the base transceiver station. The subscriber unit transmits the data blocks the subscriber requested to be sent, according to the schedule.

  • Publication number: 20060130028
Abstract: The adaptation precedence of an application (or order of adaptation of various components) is given as a directed acyclic graph (DAG), with each vertex being an atomic unit of adaptation, or a component which comprises of atomic units of adaptation. Each such component has an associated DAG specifying the order of adaptation with vertices as sub-components. Relations among sub-components and associated actions are stored as a table. The relations between sub-components of different components follow a set of constraints in order to be compatible relations. A linear order from the partial order is created as represented by the DAG and follows that order for adaptation of each component. Each component x is adapted atomically and then the table of relations is updated appropriately. As and when a component y is to be adapted, the table is looked-up and it is determined which relations and actions are to be enforced upon y while its adaptation is being executed.

  • Patent number: 7047175
Abstract: A method and system for reducing the time required for execution of the dynamic timing simulation for a logic simulator. For a logic circuit simulator having a compilation phase and a runtime phase, a delay assessment is performed during the compilation phase in order to identify storage elements that are exempt from possible timing violations at runtime. The runtime timing checks are removed from the exempt storage elements, thereby reducing the runtime calculation effort. Additionally, combinational portions of the circuit that drive the exempt storage elements are examined for element delays that can be effectively eliminated (e.g., zero delayed) from the runtime calculations, thereby providing a further reduction in the computational overhead via the use of cycle based simulation for these.

  • Patent number: 7047304
Abstract: A modem that includes a configuration domain name associated with a configuration Broadband Service Node (BSN) is firstly provided. A PPPoE session is established, and an authentication request is transmitted, containing the identifier and a generic password, from the modem to a single configuration domain name over the PPPoE network. Authorization is then received from the configuration domain name. The authorization preferably comprises a temporary dynamic Internet Protocol (IP) address. Full configuration details, including a static IP address, are then obtained from an Internet Service Provider (ISP). The invention also provides a system and computer program product for provisioning broadband service in a Point-to-Point Protocol Over Ethernet (PPPoE) network.

  • Patent number: 7041598
Abstract: The invention provides a directional ion etching process to pattern self-aligned via contacts in the manufacture of semiconductor devices such as high density magnetic random access memory (MRAM). In a particular embodiment, a semiconductor wafer is prepared with vertically arranged layers, including a patterned layer in electrical contact with a conductive row layer. The patterned layer may be a magnetic tunnel junction layer. A photoresist is deposited on the junction layer, masked, exposed and developed. The non-protected junction layer is etched to provide appropriate junction stacks. The remaining photoresist caps are not dissolved, rather they and the surface of the wafer are coated with a dielectric. Directional ion etching at a low angle relative to the junction stack layer removes the coated photoresist caps and thereby provides at least one patterned self-aligned via contact.
