Abstract: Described in detail herein are systems and methods for single instancing blocks of data in a data storage system. For example, the data storage system may include multiple computing devices (e.g., client computing devices) that store primary data. The data storage system may also include a secondary storage computing device, a single instance database, and one or more storage devices that store copies of the primary data (e.g., secondary copies, tertiary copies, etc.). The secondary storage computing device receives blocks of data from the computing devices and accesses the single instance database to determine whether the blocks of data are unique (meaning that no instances of the blocks of data are stored on the storage devices). If a block of data is unique, the single instance database stores it on a storage device. If not, the secondary storage computing device can avoid storing the block of data on the storage devices.

Abstract: A method for receiving a declarative specification including a plurality of stages. Each stage specifies an atomic operation, a data input to the atomic operation, and a data output from the atomic operation. The data input is characterized by a data type. Links between at least two of the stages are generated to create a data integration workflow. The data integration workflow is compiled to generate computer code for execution on a parallel processing platform. The computer code configured to perform at least one of data preparation and data analysis.

Abstract: A system and method for determining media to be exported out of a media library is described. In some examples, the system determines a media component to be exported, determines the media component is in the media library for a specific process, and exports the media component after the process is completed.

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring a health parameter of a vehicle occupant where an occupant profile is created that identifies a biological parameter to measure, a measure health parameter to report on and corresponding thresholds that trigger an alert. A vehicle has an integrated sensor that measures the biological parameter according to the profile and provides a signal of the measured biological parameter. A computing device records the measured biological parameter and derives the measured health parameter from the measured biological parameters. If the measured health parameter passes a threshold, then an alert is triggered, and the occupant or interested party is notified.

Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a bus driver, included on a local computing system, enables detection of hardware available on a host computing system for a remote access session. Upon detecting a hardware device on the host computing system, an operating system included in the local computing system may obtain a device driver for controlling data captured from the hardware device. The device driver may be used to inject data captured from the hardware device into the local operating system's input stack. In some examples, the data is injected into the local operating system's input stack at a layer that corresponds to a layer at which the data was captured on the host computing system.

Abstract: In order to disinfect and to detoxify a fluid, a photoreactor contains at least two light sources. One light source activates the catalytic function of a semiconductor material in the fluid to reduce the concentration of contaminants in the fluid, such as by breaking down organic contaminants into non-toxic compounds. A second light source acts directly on living biological entities to sterilize or kill them and thereby disinfect the fluid, and can also serve to activate a semiconductor photocatalyst that in turn causes further damage to biological contaminants. The semiconductor photocatalyst is desirably attached to an optically transmitting fiber substrate in the fluid. The second light source in one embodiment is external to the fluid and illuminates the photocatalyst through transmitting surfaces in a fluid containment vessel. The light sources can comprise respective sets of plural LEDs.

Abstract: A composition having nanoparticles of a refractory-metal carbide or refractory-metal nitride and a carbonaceous matrix. The composition is not in the form of a powder. A composition comprising a metal component and an organic component. The metal component is nanoparticles or particles of a refractory metal or a refractory-metal compound capable of decomposing into refractory metal nanoparticles. The organic component is an organic compound having a char yield of at least 60% by weight or a thermoset made from the organic compound. A method of combining particles of a refractory metal or a refractory-metal compound capable of reacting or decomposing into refractory-metal nanoparticles with an organic compound having a char yield of at least 60% by weight to form a precursor mixture.

Abstract: A mixer for mixing an exhaust flow with a fluid injected into an exhaust pipe includes a first mixing element including a base interconnecting first and second sidewalls and a deflection element positioned to be impacted by the injected fluid as well as a mixing fin positioned downstream of the deflection element. A second mixing element includes first and second spaced apart mounting flanges fixed to inner surfaces of the first and second sidewalls. Alternately, the mixer includes first and second mixing elements positioned within circumferentially spaced apart slots axially extending from an open end of a tubular housing.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention includes a processor having at least one core and uncore logic. The uncore logic can include a home agent to act as a guard to control access to a memory region. Either in the home agent or another portion of the uncore logic, a directory cache may be provided to store ownership information for a portion of the memory region owned by an agent coupled to the processor. In this way, when an access request for the memory region misses in the directory cache, a memory transaction can be avoided. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Method and system for a first network device and a second network device is provided. The first network device and the second network device communicate with each other via a first network link and a second network link. A traffic type between the first network device and the second network device is excluded from link aggregation. When a packet is received from the first network device; and if the packet is excluded from link aggregation, then the first network link or the second link is selected to transmit the packet based on a physical port identifier identifying a port of the first network device.

Abstract: Bond pads on an integrated circuit are provided with planarizing dielectric structures to permit the electroplating of metal posts having planar top surfaces. The metal posts contact at least three sides of the planarizing dielectric structures. The planarizing dielectric structures can be used on integrated circuits having bond pads of different sizes to electroplate metal posts having the same height.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements for extracting tuples from a streaming XML document. A query twig is applied to the XML document stream, tuples are extracted from the XML document stream based on the query twig, and a quantity of extracted tuples is limited via foregoing extraction of duplicate tuples extraction of tuples that do not satisfy query twig criteria.

Abstract: Method and system for a first network device and a second network device is provided. The first network device and the second network device communicate with each other via a plurality of network links. A network packet field for applying a hashing technique for selecting one of the network links to transmit the network packet is negotiated between the first network device and the second network device. The hashing technique is identified for selecting the selected network link. The first network device and the second network device, prior to applying the hashing technique exchange hashing parameters.

Abstract: An input port for a computer system may retain potentially authenticable requests for processing while removing other connection requests from an incoming queue or request pool. The input port may continue to receive new requests even during a denial of service attack, allowing potentially legitimate requests to be processed. In a typical embodiment, a first in, first out buffer may be used to receive and process connection requests. When the buffer is full, any request that comes from a device having a previous connection with the computer system may be retained for authentication, while removing requests that come from unknown devices. Some embodiments may retain a list of known devices associated with administrators or other known users, and the list may be updated as those users are authenticated.

Abstract: A compressor is disclosed having a shaft seal assembly and system that allows a high-pressure compressor to settle-out at a lower pressure level during shutdown. The seal assembly may be disposed about a portion of the shaft and define a blow-down seal chamber, the seal assembly including one or more gas seals in fluid communication with the blow-down seal chamber. A blow-down line is communicably coupled to the blow-down seal chamber to reference the blow-down seal chamber to a low pressure reference, such as a separate centrifugal compressor, or the like. Referencing the blow-down seal chamber to the low pressure reference reduces the required sealing pressure of the one or more gas seals. A valve may be disposed in the blow-down line and configured to regulate a flow of process gas leakage through the blow-down line.

Abstract: An exhaust gas treatment system for reducing emissions from an engine includes an exhaust conduit adapted to supply an exhaust stream from an engine to an exhaust treatment device. An injector injects a reagent through an aperture in the conduit into the exhaust stream. A vortex breaker includes a mount having a cylindrical sleeve extending through the aperture as well as a flared tube fixed to and positioned within the cylindrical sleeve. A window extends through an upstream portion of the cylindrical sleeve exposing the flared tube to the exhaust stream. The sleeve includes a downstream aperture in fluid communication with the window.

Abstract: A fax account is described and creates an association between users and documents that are faxed. A fax account allows a user to secure their faxed documents and organize and streamline fax communication via different transports. In at least some embodiments, security is enhanced through the use of an authentication model that authenticates individual users before giving them access to the fax functionality or, more accurately, their fax account. In at least some embodiments, fax accounts also provide users with an infrastructure through which they can manage their documents. In addition, in at least some embodiments, fax accounts can be used to manage and direct received faxes to the intended recipient, thus reducing the possibility of an unintended recipient gaining access to the fax.
