  • Publication number: 20140114619
Abstract: A method of determining an optimized position for a burner in an exhaust aftertreatment system includes estimating temperature distributions across faces of exhaust treatment devices positioned within parallel paths based on an initial burner position upstream of the parallel paths. A temperature distribution across the faces of the exhaust treatment device is again estimated based on a changed burner position. A difference between the estimates is determined. The changing, estimating and determining steps are repeated to correlate the burner position with a temperature variance across the faces. An optimized burner position is determined based on minimizing the temperature variance across the faces of the exhaust treatment devices.

  • Patent number: 8706976
Abstract: A system and method described herein allows a virtual tape library (VTL) to perform multiple simultaneous or parallel read/write or access sessions with disk drives or other storage media, particularly when subject to a sequential SCSI-compliant layer or traditional limitations of VTLs. In one embodiment, a virtualizing or transaction layer can establish multiple sessions with one or more clients to concurrently satisfy the read/write requests of those clients for physical storage resources. A table or other data structure tracks or maps the sessions associated with each client and the location of data on the physical storage devices.

  • Publication number: 20130323128
Abstract: In order to disinfect and to detoxify a fluid, a photoreactor contains at least two light sources. One light source activates the catalytic function of a semiconductor material in the fluid to reduce the concentration of contaminants in the fluid, such as by breaking down organic contaminants into non-toxic compounds. A second light source acts directly on living biological entities to sterilize or kill them and thereby disinfect the fluid, and can also serve to activate a semiconductor photocatalyst that in turn causes further damage to biological contaminants. The semiconductor photocatalyst is desirably attached to an optically transmitting fiber substrate in the fluid. The second light source in one embodiment is external to the fluid and illuminates the photocatalyst through transmitting surfaces in a fluid containment vessel. The light sources can comprise respective sets of plural LEDs.

  • Publication number: 20130326544
Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a bus driver, included on a local computing system, enables detection of hardware available on a host computing system for a remote access session. Upon detecting a hardware device on the host computing system, an operating system included in the local computing system may obtain a device driver for controlling data captured from the hardware device. The device driver may be used to inject data captured from the hardware device into the local operating system's input stack. In some examples, the data is injected into the local operating system's input stack at a layer that corresponds to a layer at which the data was captured on the host computing system.

  • Publication number: 20130325826
Abstract: A method for identifying matching transactions between two log files where each transaction includes one or more statements. Each log file record records the execution of a statement and includes a transaction identifier. Each record in turn in one log file is compared to an advancing window of records in the other log file. A first table contains associations of statements to transactions and transactions to statements for records in the window. If a match is found between a record in the one file and a record in the window, information associating partial transactions in the one file to potential transactions of the records in the window is added to a second table. If an end-of-transaction record is read from the one file, a best match is found between the ended transaction and the potential transactions based on information in the first and second tables.

  • Patent number: 8596954
Abstract: A compressor is disclosed having a shaft seal assembly and system that allows a high-pressure compressor to settle-out at a lower pressure level during shutdown. The seal assembly may be disposed about a portion of the shaft and define a blow-down seal chamber, the seal assembly including one or more gas seals in fluid communication with the blow-down seal chamber. A blow-down line is communicably coupled to the blow-down seal chamber to reference the blow-down seal chamber to a low pressure reference, such as a separate centrifugal compressor, or the like. Referencing the blow-down seal chamber to the low pressure reference reduces the required sealing pressure of the one or more gas seals. A valve may be disposed in the blow-down line and configured to regulate a flow of process gas leakage through the blow-down line.
