    Abstract: An information management system implements a method for determining whether to initiate a failover of a storage manager in the system. Nodes in the system may be assigned as monitoring nodes configured to communicate with a storage manager. Furthermore, each monitoring node may be configured to transmit a status inquiry message to each other monitoring node, and each monitoring node may receive a status inquiry message from each other monitoring node. Each monitoring node may also generate a session message comprising status information, and a plurality of failover nodes may receive the generated session messages. A failover node may then determine whether a failover condition has occurred by applying a plurality of failover rules to the status information of the transmitted session message. Where the failover node determines that a failover condition has occurred, the failover node may activate an offline storage manager to replace the active storage manager.

    Abstract: A method of traffic forwarding and disambiguation through the use of local proxies and addresses. The technique leverages DNS to on-ramp traffic to a local proxy. The local proxy runs on the end user's device. According to a first embodiment, DNS is used to remap what would normally be a wide range of IP addresses to localhost based on 127.0.0.0/8 listening sockets, where the system can then listen for connections and data. In a second embodiment, a localhost proxy based on a TUN/TAP interface (or other packet interception method) with a user-defined CIDR range to which the local DNS server drives traffic is used. Requests on that local proxy are annotated (by adding data to the upstream connection).

Using a machine learning module, a set of scores, each corresponding to one historical data point, is selected. An anomaly threshold is determined based on the set of scores, and compared with a score corresponding to a current data point of the feature to determine whether the current data point is anomalous or not. When the current data point is anomalous, the anomaly detection process includes identifying the feature as an anomalous feature, and including the anomalous feature and the current data point in an anomaly detection report.

Candidate phrases are extracted from queries in the search engine log. The candidate phrases are partitioned to generate candidate product classes, where the candidate phrases are partitioned by sequentially expanding the ending phrases of the candidate product phrases. Using such an ending phrase-based approach naturally forms a hierarchy of candidate product classes.
