Abstract: Aspects of the present invention disclose a method for safeguarding an audio device by enabling the audio device to perform harm prevention and retrieval related task based on detecting a set of conditions within an operating environment of the audio device. The method includes one or more processors determining a freefall event of an audio device is occurring. The method further includes one or more processors determining an operating environment type of a surface the audio device contacts after the freefall event ends, wherein the operating environment type of the surface indicates liquid is present. The method further includes responsive to the indication that water is present one or more processors taking a liquid mitigation action.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention disclose a method for selecting a modality to distract a subject from engaging in risk events that minimize disturbances to users within the surrounding of the subject while maximizing an impact of the distraction on the subject. The method includes one or more processors identifying a sequence of actions of a subject within a sensor feed. The method further includes generating a knowledge graph based at least in part on activities of the subject, wherein the knowledge graph includes historical activity data. The method further includes determining that an activity of the subject is hazardous based at least in part on the sequence of actions of the subject. The method further includes initiating a distraction task on an internet of things (IoT) enabled device within a defined area that includes the subject, wherein the distraction task includes an audio-visual event.

Abstract: Techniques associated with link establishment in a fronthaul network are described herein. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, by a proxy node, a Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) bit stream transmitted by a radio equipment controller, wherein the CPRI bit stream is transmitted within a transmit time interval of the radio equipment controller; and fast-sampling, by the proxy node, the CPRI bit stream to determine whether a hyper frame number synchronization with the radio equipment controller at a common matching link bit rate is achievable, wherein the fast-sampling comprises attempting to decode the received CPRI bit stream and achieve the hyper frame number synchronization for each of a plurality of link bit rates configured for a fast-sampling time period during at least one fast-sampling time interval configured for the proxy node.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatuses and methods for intraoperative on-demand implant customization in a surgical setting. An apparatus may include a storage portion, an implant customization portion and an interface. The storage portion may house implant blanks and implant accessories. The implant customization portion may customize the implant blanks. The interface may be configured to receive implant customization information and utilize the same to intraoperatively manipulate the implant blank to a patient-specific implant within a sterile environment. A method to customize an implant in a surgical care environment may include the steps of obtaining information related to the implant location, selecting an implant blank based on the information, and customizing the implant blank in a surgical care setting with a customization apparatus.

Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein are used for restoring deduplicated backup data from cloud-based storage and from multi-node replicated files systems, and they also may be used in more traditional data storage technologies. Pre-restore steps include analysis of deduplication indexes to identify data segments that are stored consecutively on storage media. Reading data in aggregate runs of consecutively stored data segments reduces interactions with storage media that hosts the deduplicated data and speeds up retrieval. Parallel reads from multiple storage devices in multi-node replicated file systems also speed up retrieval. An illustrative enhanced media agent pre-fetches data (stored in deduplicated form) in anticipation of read requests that are expected in the restore operation.

Abstract: Certain embodiments disclosed herein reduce or eliminate a communication bottleneck at the storage manager by reducing communication with the storage manager while maintaining functionality of an information management system. In some implementations, operations performed as part of a backup process may be stored in transaction logs. These transaction logs may include information about a transaction performed between the client computing system and the network storage that hosts the backup of the client computing system. The transaction logs may be provided to a secondary storage system that can be used to form a backup index. The backup index may be used to facilitate accessing the data stored at the network storage. Advantageously, generating the transaction logs and separating the generation of the backup index from the backup process can reduce resource usage during performance of the backup and speed up the backup process while further reducing interaction with the storage manager.

The multilayer integral geogrid having one or more cellular layers is produced from a coextruded or laminated multilayer polymer starting sheet. The integral geogrid has a multilayer construction, with at least one outer layer thereof having the cellular structure. By virtue of the cellular layer structure, the multilayer integral geogrid provides for increased layer vertical compressibility under load, resulting in enhanced material properties that provide performance benefits to use of the multilayer integral geogrid to stabilize and strengthen soil, aggregates, or other particulate materials.

Abstract: A process increases the concentration of normal paraffins in a feed stream comprising separating a naphtha feed stream into a normal paraffin rich stream and a non-normal paraffin rich stream. A naphtha feed stream may be separated into a normal paraffin stream and a non-normal paraffin stream. An isomerization feed stream may be taken from the non-normal paraffin stream and isomerized over an isomerization catalyst to convert non-normal paraffins to normal paraffins and produce an isomerization effluent stream. The isomerization effluent stream may be separated into a propane stream and a C4+ hydrocarbon stream optionally in a single column. The C4+ hydrocarbon stream may be recycled to the step of separating a naphtha feed stream.

Abstract: A distributed, deduplicated storage system according to certain embodiments is arranged in a parallel configuration including multiple deduplication nodes. Deduplicated data is distributed across the deduplication nodes. The deduplication nodes can be networked together and communicate with one another according using a light-weight, customized communication scheme (e.g., a scheme based on FTP or HTTP). In some cases, deduplication management information including deduplication signatures and/or other metadata is stored separately from the deduplicated data in deduplication management nodes, improving performance and scalability.

Abstract: An information management system provides a data deduplication system that uses a primary table, a deduplication chunk table, and a chunk integrity table to ensure that a referenced deduplicated data block is only verified once during the data verification of a backup or other replication operation. The data deduplication system may reduce the computational and storage overhead associated with traditional data verification processes. The primary table, the deduplication chunk table, and the chunk integrity table, all of which may be stored in a deduplication database, can also ensure synchronization between the deduplication database and secondary storage devices.

Abstract: An information management system implements a method for determining whether to initiate a failover of a storage manager in the system. Nodes in the system may be assigned as monitoring nodes configured to communicate with a storage manager. Furthermore, each monitoring node may be configured to transmit a status inquiry message to each other monitoring node, and each monitoring node may receive a status inquiry message from each other monitoring node. Each monitoring node may also generate a session message comprising status information, and a plurality of failover nodes may receive the generated session messages. A failover node may then determine whether a failover condition has occurred by applying a plurality of failover rules to the status information of the transmitted session message. Where the failover node determines that a failover condition has occurred, the failover node may activate an offline storage manager to replace the active storage manager.
