  • Publication number: 20200126256
Abstract: A method for estimating a camera pose includes recognizing a three-dimensional (3D) map representing a physical environment, the 3D map including 3D map features defined as 3D points. An obfuscated image representation is received, the representation derived from an original unobfuscated image of the physical environment captured by a camera. The representation includes a plurality of obfuscated features, each including (i) a two-dimensional (2D) line that passes through a 2D point in the original unobfuscated image at which an image feature was detected, and (ii) a feature descriptor that describes the image feature associated with the 2D point that the 2D line of the obfuscated feature passes through. Correspondences are determined between the obfuscated features and the 3D map features of the 3D map of the physical environment. Based on the determined correspondences, a six degree of freedom pose of the camera in the physical environment is estimated.

  • Patent number: 10607329
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for using a single image of an indoor scene to estimate illumination of an environment that includes the portion captured in the image. A neural network system may be trained to estimate illumination by generating recovery light masks indicating a probability of each pixel within the larger environment being a light source. Additionally, low-frequency RGB images may be generated that indicating low-frequency information for the environment. The neural network system may be trained using training input images that are extracted from known panoramic images. Once trained, the neural network system infers plausible illumination information from a single image to realistically illumination images and objects being manipulated in graphics applications, such as with image compositing, modeling, and reconstruction.

  • Patent number: 10602117
Abstract: In one embodiment, at an initial time, a capture system records a 3D video stream and an audio stream of a first user interacting with the physical environment. A processing device receives the 3D video stream and the audio stream, isolates the first user from the physical environment, and stores at least a portion of the isolated representation and a portion of the audio stream. At a subsequent time, a second user uses a camera of an augmented reality device to capture a scene. The augmented reality device loads the portion of the isolated representation of the first user and the portion of the audio stream, aligns the 3D video stream with the captured scene, and calculates a pose of the augmented reality device. The augmented reality device then produces an augmented scene, which is displayed to the second user while the portion of the audio stream is played back.

  • Publication number: 20200047057
Abstract: A boot form for a hockey skate is made of multiple plastic materials having different hardness properties, or different flexural moduli, and is formed via an injection-molding process or another similar process. One or more of the plastic materials may be reinforced with fibers of glass, carbon, aramid, or another stiffening material to strengthen one or more regions of the boot form. For example, pellets of a first plastic material having a flexural modulus of approximately 190 MPa (e.g., a polyamide elastomer block amide) may be injected into a mold to form a softer upper region of the boot form. And pellets of a second plastic having a flexural modulus of approximately 20,000 MPa (e.g., a Nylon 12 with long glass fibers) may be injected into the mold to form a stiffer lower region of the boot form. Additional skate components may then be attached to the boot form.
