In an embodiment, the unexposed regions comprise a higher carbon concentration than the exposed regions. The method may further comprise vaporizing a halogenating agent into the vacuum chamber, where the halogenating agent reacts with either the unexposed regions or the exposed regions to produce a volatile byproduct.     Abstract: A water treatment system, such as a water softening system, having a water treatment tank with at least one distributor plate mounted inside to support filter media and/or ion exchange resin. The water treatment system is designed to treat hard water with a packed ion-exchange filter media and has a distributor plate design for facilitating the ion-exchange within a water softener resin bed, as well as facilitating the regeneration of the resin bed. The distributor plate presents cavities to the topside for entrapping filter media, and the cavities have narrow slits located at the base for allowing fluid to pass. A method for assembling the water treatment tank and supporting inserted distributor plate is shown. The distributor plate rest on and is supported by a domed-shaped structure that can be placed in the bottom portion of the water treatment vessel.

    Abstract: An airflow device configured for creating an air barrier includes a fan, a power source, a laminar assembly, and an attachment mechanism. The power source is coupled to the fan. The laminar assembly includes a plurality of tubes and is coupled to the fan so that air flow generated by the fan passes through the plurality of tubes to create the air barrier. The attachment mechanism attaches the laminar assembly to a user in a location near the user's head such that the air barrier created by the laminar assembly is positioned in front of the user's face. A plenum is positioned between the fan and the laminar assembly such that the air flow generated by the fan passes through the plenum and then through the laminar assembly. The airflow device acts as a face shield that protects the user from airborne contaminants and viruses.
