  • Publication number: 20180020001
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a request for data is received from an end-user device, the request including one or more contextual attributes of the end-user device. The request is forwarded to a data provider. Data is then received from the data provider. It is determined if the data includes tagged sensitive data. If so, then the tagged sensitive data and the one or more contextual attributes are sent to a data access platform. Then policy constraints corresponding to the data are received from the data access platform. The sensitive data is encrypted in a manner that a data privacy module on the end-user device only decrypts the sensitive data when one or more contextual attributes of the end-user device meet one or more requirements identified in the policy constraints, and then the encrypted sensitive data and the policy are sent to the data privacy module.

  • Publication number: 20170339123
Abstract: Systems and methods for authenticating an avatar are provided. This system is useful with an avatar having an identifier, virtual environments, and a user who uses the avatar in the virtual environments. Transoms are generated, each with a unique identifier configured to exist in a specific location, and registered with an identity provider. The transom initiates a request. An offer is conveyed that includes the transom identifier, the location and the avatar identifier. The avatar is then authenticated by a shared secret. The identity provider then responds to the offer with avatar identification information, including reputation information. Reputation information is for the avatar and the user, and is compiled from external avatar data sources by using a trust matrix. An avatar gallery is generated by linking each avatar owned by each user to the account and compiling avatar profiles from the account, and the reputation information. The avatar profiles are searchable, and include micro formats.

  • Publication number: 20170322921
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating tables from print-ready digital source documents. A document is received and one or more text fragments are identified on a rendered page of the document. A wrapping region collection is generated, comprising one or more wrapping regions. A tabular, narrative and label score is generated for each wrapping region. A block type is assigned to each wrapping region based on the scores. A wrapping region group and a block set are generated. One or more tables are generated based on text fragments corresponding to one of the one or more blocks. The text fragments are organized into corresponding fields of the one or more tables.

  • Publication number: 20170310814
Abstract: The invention enables digital music content to be downloaded to and used on a portable wireless computing device. An application running on the wireless device has been automatically adapted to parameters associated with the wireless device without end-user input (e.g. the application has been configured in dependence on the device OS and firmware, related bugs, screen size, pixel number, security models, connection handling, memory etc. This application enables an end-user to browse and search music content on a remote server using a wireless network; to download music content from that remote server using the wireless network and to playback and manage that downloaded music content. The application also includes a digital rights management system that enables unlimited legal downloads of different music tracks to the device and also enables any of those tracks stored on the device to be played so long as a subscription service has not terminated.

  • Publication number: 20170301196
Abstract: Disclosed examples include methods and circuits to drive a haptic actuator, in which a single input signal from a host device has a first state representing a command to drive the actuator and a second state representing a command to stop the actuator. A control circuit provides a drive control signal to a driver circuit to drive the haptic actuator in response to the control signal transitioning to the first state, and to stop the haptic actuator in response to the control signal transitioning to the second state. A timer circuit places the circuit in a low power mode a predetermined time after the control signal transitions to the second state, or the control circuit places the circuit in the low power mode in response to a feedback signal indicating that the actuator has reached a stopped condition.

  • Publication number: 20170268949
Abstract: A pressure sensor includes an elongate body which deforms in response to an applied pressure having a cavity formed therein. An isolation diaphragm seals the cavity from a process fluid and is configured to deflect in response to applied process pressure from the process fluid. An isolation fill fluid in the cavity applies pressure to the elongate body in response to deflection of the isolation diaphragm thereby causing deflection of the elongate body. A deformation sensor is coupled to the elongate body and provides a sensor output in response to deformation of the elongate body which is indicative of the process pressure.

  • Publication number: 20170263950
Abstract: A fuel cell assembly includes a pair of corrugated bipolar plates. Each of the plates is defined by peak portions and sidewalls connecting the peak portions. The plates are fitted and nested within each other such that the sidewalls are in direct contact. Some of the sidewalls include a stepped shoulder portion such that each of the some of the sidewalls and the peak portions adjacent thereto form a stair-step profile and define a flow channel having a depth greater than a width.

  • Publication number: 20170248595
Abstract: A method of determining the presence or absence in a sample of a biomarker, the method comprising the steps of (a) providing a porous substrate which carries an antigen; (b) contacting the substrate with the sample; (c) contacting the substrate with a composition comprising a secondary antibody; and (d) observing the substrate. The method may enable a very quick, simple test to be carried out to determine whether or not a particular sample contains a biomarker, for example an antibody indicative of infection with a mycobacterial disease. A kit and a device for determining the presence or absence in a sample of a biomarker are also described.

  • Publication number: 20170242005
Abstract: A method of determining whether an individual is infected with mycobacteria. The method comprising the steps of (a) providing a system which comprises at least two different mycolic-acid derived antigens; (b) introducing a sample obtained from the individual into the system and into contact with each of the at least two different mycolic-acid derived antigens; and (c) detecting the presence or absence of the binding of a biomarker in the sample with each antigen in the system. The method may be particularly suitable for determining the presence or absence of a disease antibody indicative of infection with any disease caused by infection with mycobacteria, for example tuberculosis, leprosy, pulmonary disease, burili ulcer, Johne's disease and bovine tuberculosis. A kit and device are also described. The present invention may provide an over the counter device to allow individuals to check on a routine basis that they have normal immune responses.
