  • Patent number: 10060814
Abstract: A pressure sensor includes an elongate body which deforms in response to an applied pressure having a cavity formed therein. An isolation diaphragm seals the cavity from a process fluid and is configured to deflect in response to applied process pressure from the process fluid. An isolation fill fluid in the cavity applies pressure to the elongate body in response to deflection of the isolation diaphragm thereby causing deflection of the elongate body. A deformation sensor is coupled to the elongate body and provides a sensor output in response to deformation of the elongate body which is indicative of the process pressure.

  • Patent number: 10060355
Abstract: Apparatus and system for containing a rupture of a duct. The apparatus includes an air-permeable sheet, such as a wide-weave fiberglass sheet. The air-permeable sheet includes a strap arranged on a first side of the sheet such that it forms diamond-shaped patterns along a longitudinal axis. The strap can be made of a tight-weave fiberglass. Laterally-spaced corners of the diamond-shaped patterns include connection members that can be engaged to affix the strap and the air-permeable sheet around a duct. Various aspects include an air-impermeable air barrier surrounding the wide-weave fiberglass sheet and strap. The air barrier can include a window that directs air from a ruptured duct. Various aspects can be used on a bleed-air duct of an aircraft. The window of the air barrier can be aimed at a temperature sensor. A valve can close the bleed-air duct if the temperature sensor detects a high temperature leak.

  • Patent number: 10016538
Abstract: The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to an apparatus and method for managing reduced pressure at a tissue site. The apparatus includes a reduced pressure source that generates reduced pressure. The reduced pressure is delivered to the tissue site via a delivery tube. The apparatus includes a single pressure sensor. The single pressure sensor detects an actual reduced pressure at the tissue site. The apparatus also includes a controller. The controller determines a responsiveness of the actual reduced pressure measured by the single pressure sensor to an increase in reduced pressure generated by the reduced pressure source. The apparatus includes an indicator. The indicator emits a signal when the controller determines that the actual reduced pressure measured by the single pressure sensor is nonresponsive to the increase in reduced pressure generated by the reduced pressure source.

  • Patent number: 10013859
Abstract: Disclosed examples include methods and circuits to drive a haptic actuator, in which a single input signal from a host device has a first state representing a command to drive the actuator and a second state representing a command to stop the actuator. A control circuit provides a drive control signal to a driver circuit to drive the haptic actuator in response to the control signal transitioning to the first state, and to stop the haptic actuator in response to the control signal transitioning to the second state. A timer circuit places the circuit in a low power mode a predetermined time after the control signal transitions to the second state, or the control circuit places the circuit in the low power mode in response to a feedback signal indicating that the actuator has reached a stopped condition.

  • Patent number: 10003089
Abstract: The present disclosure includes a fuel cell bipolar plate including a coating and methods for forming the coating. The bipolar plate may include a steel substrate and a coating contacting the steel substrate. The coating may include a plurality of alternating oxide-forming layers and elution resistant layers. The oxide-forming layers may include pure titanium, doped titanium, or a titanium alloy (e.g. doped/alloyed with niobium, zirconium, vanadium, silver, tantalum, yttrium, scandium, or nitrogen) and the elution resistant layers may include a noble metal or tantalum (e.g., gold, iridium, ruthenium, or tantalum). There may be 2-20 layers each of the oxide-forming layers and the elution resistant layers. The coating may prevent elution of iron ions from the steel substrate, for example, by forming oxide plugs in defects or pinholes in the oxide forming and/or elution resistant layers. The coating may also reduce the total usage of precious metals, such as gold.

  • Publication number: 20180129647
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for evaluating an individual's affect or emotional state by extracting emotional meaning from audio, visual and/or textual input into a handset, mobile communication device or other peripheral device. The audio, visual and/or textual input may be collected, gathered or obtained using one or more data modules which may include, but are not limited to, a microphone, a camera, an accelerometer and a peripheral device. The data modules collect one or more sets of potential imprecise characteristics which may then be analyzed and/or evaluated. When analyzing and/or evaluating the imprecise characteristics, the imprecise characteristics may be assigned one or more weighted descriptive values and a weighted time value. The weighted descriptive values and the weighted time value are then compiled or fused to create one or more precise characteristics which may define the emotional state of an individual.

  • Publication number: 20180121047
Abstract: Changes in display area automatically lead to changes in the format used to display graphical content of a list of items such as thumbnails or application icons, for example. A list display controller transitions between scrollable format and fixed format, and transitions between fixed formats with different numbers of display slots. Transitions may be triggered by window resizing, by moving a graphical user interface from one device to another while the application runs, or by switching between landscape and portrait mode, for example. Even when the format is not changed in response to a display area change, graphical content is automatically resized to match changes in the size of the display area containing the graphical content. Format transitions and content resizing help provide a pleasant user experience by maintaining content density with expected usage patterns for a given device, and reduce proliferation of code versions.
