  • Publication number: 20010025451
Abstract: A cutout is provided in an upper edge of a door inner panel at a rear end portion thereof, and a clip member is provided on a door window glass inner weatherstrip which is mounted along the upper edge and is brought into abutment against front and rear vertical portions of a glass run at front and rear terminal ends thereof at such a position that corresponds to the cutout when the rear terminal end of the door window glass inner weatherstrip is brought into abutment against the glass run. The clip member is then brought into engagement with the cutout to position the door window glass inner weatherstrip for mounting, whereby no gap is formed at a portion where the rear terminal end and the glass run attach to each other.

  • Publication number: 20010015035
Abstract: A window frame is constituted by an inner panel, an outer panel and a door sash which are formed by press molding, and a glass run body of a glass run is attached and locked in an attachment groove provided in the door sash. A trim formed separately from the glass run is fitted to an interior flange of the inner panel and an interior flange of the door sash so that an exterior holding lip of the trim is brought into pressure contact with an interior holding lip provided on the glass run. A door glass is held to be able to be guided to slide by seal lips of the glass run. The interior flange and the attachment groove are integrally formed in a common component and the relative positions of these two parts are kept stable.

  • Patent number: 6243989
Abstract: A weather strip for attachment to a window frame of a vehicle for sealing the- periphery of a window and a method of forming the weather strip. The weather strip supports the window to allow the window to slide upward and downward with respect to the window frame. The weather strip includes an elongated side section for attachment to a generally vertical member of the window frame, an elongated upper section for attachment to a horizontal member of the frame, and a corner section for attachment to a corner of the window frame. The weather strip includes an inner seal lip and an outer seal lip, which resiliently contact the inner and outer surfaces of the window, respectively. The cross sectional shapes of the seal lips vary from the side section to the upper section, yet the inner and outer seal lips are formed of a single continuous extrusion.

  • Publication number: 20010001916
Abstract: A glass run of an automobile comprises a channel portion including a bottom portion and inner and outer side walls. The glass run further comprises inner and outer seal lips projecting into the channel portion from the inner and outer side walls respectively. The seal lips have back sides facing inside of the channel portion. At least the inner seal lip is thickened in its wall thickness at its middle portion in a manner that the back side of the seal lip projects more inwardly into the channel portion at the middle portion than at a root portion of the seal lip, thereby forming a convex at the middle portion on the back side of the seal lip while relatively forming a concave at the root portion on the back side of the seal lip. The glass run further comprises a sponge elasticity-reinforcing member provided between the root portion on the back side of the inner seal lip and the inner side wall.

  • Patent number: 6012760
Abstract: A weather strip is adhered to a vehicle by a double sided adhesive tape. The weather strip seals between the vehicle body and a door when the door is closed. The weather strip includes a first section extruded from a rubber material, which is vulcanized at a vulcanizing temperature. The weather strip also includes a second section molded from a thermoplastic elastomer at a temperature lower than the vulcanizing temperature. The adhesive tape is applied to the weather strip to span the first section and the second section. This permits a single piece of tape to be continuously applied to the weather strip, which is more efficient.

  • Patent number: 5918421
Abstract: The door weather strip mounting structure is constructed such that a base portion of a door weather strip on an inside thereof, is fixed to an outer by clips and, on an outside thereof, is bonded to the outer peripheral portion through a two-sided adhesive tape. Due to this structure, when the tape is bonded, a releasing sheet can be easily removed from the two-side adhesive tape and, at the same time, when a vehicle door is closed, the clips prevent the inside end portion of the base portion from being floated upwardly.

  • Patent number: 5852898
Abstract: An extruded weather strip having a tubular configuration and adapted to be bonded to a body wall along a roof side of a vehicle body, which defines a door opening thereof, with a double-sided adhesive tape. The weather strip includes a bottom portion adapted to be bonded to the body wall with the double-sided adhesive tape, and a seal wall including sides that are connected to both side ends of the bottom portion. The weather strip further includes first and second internal bridge members which interconnect the bottom portion and the seal wall. One end of the first bridge is connected to the seal wall at a position inside of where a door window pane will push on that seal wall while the other end is connected to an outer side end of the bottom portion. One end of the second bridge is connected to the seal wall in a position similar to the first bridge while the other end is connected to an inner side end of the bottom portion.

  • Patent number: 5820198
Abstract: A weather strip is used for a center pillar having a gradually increasing width downwardly along its length, and a roofline of a motor vehicle. The weather strip includes extruded front and rear roofline weather strips, extruded first and second center pillar weather strips, a molded portion which integrally joins the roofline weather strips and the center pillar weather strips, and a molding mounted on the molded portion between the center pillar weather strips. The center pillar weather strips gradually increase in spacing downwardly along the length of the center pillar. The molding gradually increases in width downwardly along the length of the center pillar. The extruded roofline weather strips are placed in a "T" configured mold, and the extruded center pillar weather strips are also placed in the molded but with the gradually increasing spacing. Material is injected molded between the weather strips to form the molded portion.

  • Patent number: 5693419
Abstract: A weather strip adapted to be continuously attached to a body panel around door openings of motor vehicles, which extends from a front pillar to a quarter pillar by way of a side face of a roof. The weather strip includes a base portion of solid rubber, a seal portion of sponge rubber and a molding portion of solid rubber, which is continuously formed along an outside end of the base portion. The width of the molding portion gradually varies such that its front part has a first width capable of covering substantially an entire outside face of the seal portion, its rear corner part has a width gradually reducing towards the quarter pillar and its rear part has a width less than the first width to prevent interference with a rear edge of a rear door window glass or rear door frame upon opening and closing of a rear door. The weather strip thus constructed is produced by extrusion.
