  • Publication number: 20040071475
Abstract: A control system for an image forming device includes a sensor mounted on an optical path unobstructed by elements that are subject to wear for detecting a time varying signal representing reflected light from both a photoconductive element and a transfer sheet internal to the image forming device, a memory storing reference values, and a controller to control an image forming operation based on the reference values stored in the memory and the time-varying signal received from the sensor. The controller reads the time-varying signal from the sensor and compares the time-varying signal read to the reference values to determine a condition of the image forming device.

  • Publication number: 20040012381
Abstract: An inverter system which converts DC input into AC output and supplies the AC output to a load such as an FL tube detects change in a circuit current due to anomaly such as discharge without contacting with a current route. Relating to an inverter which converts DC input into AC output and supplies the AC output to a load, change in a circuit current of the inverter is detected through the medium of magnetic flux change due to the change in the circuit current caused by discharge. For example, if change in a current occurs in the circuit current of the inverter by disconnection discharge or ground-fault discharge occurring in a current route including a load of the inverter, magnetic flux change occurs in circuit wiring and a space of a core gap of a transformer of the inverter. The change in the circuit current is detected through the medium of the magnetic flux change without contacting with the circuit wiring or the transformer.

  • Publication number: 20040012987
Abstract: An anomaly detection circuit of an inverter detects behavioral anomaly such as disconnection discharge of a circuit wiring or discharge between high and low voltage parts with high accuracy and prevents continuation of behavioral anomaly of the device. The anomaly detection circuit of the inverter comprises a current change detector, a detection signal output part wherein the current change detector detects change in a circuit current flowing in circuit wirings of the inverter leading from the DC input to the load through the intermediary of magnetic flux change(&Dgr; &phgr;) which occurred to the circuit wiring while the detection signal output part outputs a detection signal (Vs) representing behavioral anomaly when the change in circuit current detected by the current change detecting part exceeds a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 6618455
Abstract: In a clock management apparatus for a synchronous network system, when the quality of a clock signal is deteriorated, the clock signal is switched to another clock signal automatically to continue synchronous communication. Clock signals are received and extracted by transmission/receiving units of the synchronous network system. A plurality of clock signals including the extracted clock signals and a clock signal from an external clock are selectively switched by a clock switching unit, and a master clock signal is selected and output based on quality information transferred with each clock signal. The master clock signal is applied to a clock generator generate a clock signal. A quality control table is used to convert quality information into associated quality levels. A quality determination processing unit issues an alarm when the quality level of the master clock signal is deteriorated beyond a threshold provided by a synchronization management table.

  • Patent number: 6369495
Abstract: In manufacturing of an organic electroluminescence (EL) display device, after first electrodes are formed on a substrate, insulating films are formed on the first electrodes except regions corresponding to light emitting portions. Spacers are formed on the insulating films, and overhanging portions are formed so as to overhand the spacers. Thus, element isolating structure portions for isolating organic EL elements are formed. Then, organic EL films, second electrodes, and protecting films are sequentially formed between the spacers. In the tube formed light emitting portions of the organic EL display device, the bending angle of a bending portion of a pattern of the element isolating structure portion is larger than 90°.

  • Patent number: 6245394
Abstract: An auxiliary anode (30) having a ring-shaped permanent magnet (31) is placed in a vacuum chamber (11) such that the auxiliary anode is coaxial with a central axis of a hearth (20) and is positioned so as to surround an upper area of the hearth. A plasma beam generated by a plasma beam generator (13) using arc discharge is guided into the hearth. Magnesium (Mg) is used as a vaporization material on the hearth. Gas mixed with oxygen is supplied into the vacuum chamber. As a result, magnesium oxide particles sublimated from the hearth react with oxygen plasma generated by the plasma to form a magnesium oxide (MgO) film on a substrate (40).

  • Patent number: 6160969
Abstract: An image forming apparatus transfers a toner image from a photoconductive image carrier to a recording medium with a transfer roller and senses the density of a particular toner pattern formed on the image carrier with an optical sensor. A voltage of a first polarity opposite the polarity of the toner is applied to the transfer roller when the toner image is to be transferred to the recording medium. A voltage of a second polarity identical to the polarity of the toner is applied to the transfer roller when the toner pattern is to be moved between the image carrier and the transfer roller. Thus, even when a toner pattern is brought to the transfer roller, the transfer roller is not released from the photoconductive element.
