  • Patent number: 8433153
Abstract: An image correction apparatus includes a gradient detection unit, a blur width detection unit, a correction area identification unit, and a correction unit. The gradient detection unit detects a gradient of a pixel value of each of pixels of an input image. The blur width detection unit detects a blur width at a position of each of the pixels of the input image. The correction area identification unit identifies a correction area based on the gradient detected by the gradient detection unit and the blur width detected by the blur width detection unit. The correction unit corrects a pixel value of a pixel in the correction area identified by the correction area identification unit.

  • Patent number: 8401333
Abstract: When different images are combined, the corresponding parts are to be aligned accurately. To thus combine images, the feature point of each pixel is calculated from each original image using an operator (filter). The pixels are divided into blocks that the resolution matches that of the reduced image of each original image, and an expectation value map for registering the expectation value of the feature point of each block is drawn. Feature points are expected from the expectation values which the expectation value map holds, and reduced images are superposed one on the other. The feature points of the original images corresponding to the feature points between which the correspondence is derived from the reduced images are extracted, and the original images are superposed one on the other using the extracted feature points.

  • Patent number: 8369648
Abstract: An image correction apparatus calculates a feature value indicative of an average brightness of an input image from the pixel values of the input image and determines a pixel value at a boundary for correcting each pixel of the input image to make it brighter or darker by using the calculated feature value of the input image. The image correction apparatus calculates, with respect to the pixel value of each pixel of the input image, an area for determining a contrast correction amount for a pixel value smaller than the pixel value at the determined boundary such that a pixel is to be made darker and calculates an area for determining a contrast correction amount for a pixel value larger than the pixel value at the determined boundary such that a pixel is to be made brighter, thereby correcting the contrast of the input image by using the calculated areas.

  • Patent number: 8358849
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a face detection processing unit that reduces an image of a frame to be processed to a first level among several reduction levels to generate a reduced image of the frame to be processed, with one of frames included in a moving image as the frame to be processed, and compares the reduced image generated by the reducing unit and the learning data to extract a face image from the reduced image. When the extraction of the face image from the frame to be processed is ended, the face detection processing unit updates the frame to be processed to a next frame subsequent to the frame to be processed and generates a reduced image that is reduced to another level other than reduction levels adjoining the first level.

  • Patent number: 8351729
Abstract: To perform image correction according to the features of an input image and output a fine and conspicuous image corresponding to a variety of scenes; an image correcting apparatus detects, from the pixels of the input image, the dark pixels that have the respective pixel values equal to or smaller than a first threshold value. Then, for each dark pixel having the pixel value equal to or smaller than the first threshold value, the image correcting apparatus detects calculates the shading variation between the dark pixel and the corresponding surrounding pixels, calculates a correction amount based on the calculated shading variation, and performs image correction with the calculated correction amount.

  • Patent number: 8340464
Abstract: In a device for combining a plurality of images having a same photograph range, a position shift between the images having the same photograph range is detected, and the position shift of the images is corrected, and after the position shift is corrected, similarity of the respective portions between the images is evaluated, and the image combining method is changed according to the similarity evaluation. Therefore it is possible to create an image having no position shift due to the shaking of a camera and object blurring due to the movement of the object. Moreover, whether the images are combined or not is determined according to the similarity, hence the processing load is reduced and an image having no object blurring can be created.

  • Patent number: 8311356
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a level-value-limit smoothed-image creating unit, a level-value combining unit, and a smoothed-image creating unit. The level-value-limit smoothed-image creating unit calculates, from the pixels in a received input image within a filter size of the low-pass filters each having different level value ranges, an average value of the pixels in the level value ranges, and creates level-value-limit smoothed images. The level-value combining unit creates a level-value combined image by selecting and combining one or more of the level-value-limit smoothed images. The smoothed-image creating unit determines, based on image information that is different from image information used by the level-value-limit smoothed-image creating unit, a combining ratio of the input image to the level-value combined image and creates a smoothed image by combining the input image and the level-value combined image using the determined combining ratio.

  • Patent number: 8252367
Abstract: Soft magnetic film fabricated with preferred uniaxial anisotropy for perpendicular recording. One type of cathode design has a field direction that is parallel to the direction of the Hex of the second SUL with a magnetically-pinned first SUL. In addition, SUL structures having low AP exchange energy also are disclosed. The SUL structure combines the cathode field direction of the SUL2 with the pinned SUL1. The SUL1 is magnetically pinned to the pinning layer and the pinning direction is parallel to the direction of the cathode field applied during deposition of the SUL1. High Hc ferro-magnetic materials may be deposited onto a heated substrate that is magnetized along the radial direction by the cathode field. The pinning field may be higher than the cathode field, indicating that the cathode field during deposition of the SUL2 cannot disturb the magnetic state of the SUL1 pinned to pinning layer.

  • Publication number: 20120182335
Abstract: A display device separates a size-reduced image into a plurality of sub-areas in such a manner that a sub-area farther away from the light sources becomes wider than a sub-area closer to the light sources; compares, in each of the sub-areas, the luminance values of each pixel in a direction perpendicular to the array direction; and selects a pixel having the greatest luminance value, thereby creating line information. The display device then compares a light distribution that is a synthesis of light radiation patterns of the light sources with a luminance distribution indicated by each line information and then adjusts the emission intensity of each of the light sources.
