  • Publication number: 20060024928
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for fabricating semiconductor structures and devices, particularly ultra-shallow doped semiconductor structures exhibiting low electrical resistance. Methods of the present invention use modification of the composition of semiconductor surfaces to allow fabrication of a doped semiconductor structure having a selected dopant concentration depth profile, which provides useful junctions and other device components in microelectronic and nanoelectronic devices, such as transistors in high density integrated circuits. Surface modification in the present invention also allows for control of the concentration and depth profile of defects, such as interstitials and vacancies, in undersaturated semiconductor materials.

  • Patent number: 6796619
Abstract: The return pumps of brake systems with a precharging device are greatly stressed by the precharging pressure and subjected to premature wear. Significant leakage occurs in the long run which will damage the pump motors in the worst case. This is prevented by controlling the pressure fluid supply from the precharging source to the suction side of the return pump as a function of the pressure gradient in this connecting line. To this end, an electromagnetically operated on-off valve (23) with a hydraulically insertable throttle is used.

  • Publication number: 20040116829
Abstract: Systems and methods for the sampling of bodily fluid from an incision in the skin include test strips which are positioned adjacent to the skin and which include features to inhibit the passage of the bodily fluid between the skin and the underside of the test strip. One system utilizes a sealing member located on the bottom surface of the test strip and positioned to provide a fluid tight seal with the skin. A second system includes a recessed surface aligned with the inlet opening of the test strip to preclude contact of the bodily fluid directly with the bottom surface of the test strip. A third system involves the use of a hydrophobic surface on the underside of the test strip to inhibit wicking of the bodily fluid along the test strip. The present invention further encompasses the combination of the foregoing sampling systems with each other, and with incising, expressing and/or testing systems and methods, particularly in a single, integrated device.

  • Patent number: 6392320
Abstract: In a gas-cooled electrical machine having an axial fan (12a) and a downstream guidance mechanism, arranged downstream of the axial fan, in order to raise the pressure of a cooling gas, the cooling gas is driven in a forced manner by means of the axial fan from an inlet area (41), which is bounded by an inner casing (21) and a partition wall (20) arranged in the radial plane of the axial fan (12a), into an outlet area (42) which is bounded by the partition wall (20) and an outer casing (37). In this case, the downstream guidance mechanism is designed as a deflection diffusor (36) in order to deflect a cooling-gas flow (39) from an essentially axial flow direction to an essentially radial flow direction.
