  • Patent number: 7617307
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for integrating a user resource into a managed computing resource system. If a level of data privacy indicating a first level of dedicated computing resources, a user resource is integrated into a first logical design. Responsive to the level of data privacy indicating a second level of dedicated computing resources, the user resource is integrated into a second logical design. If there is no indication of the level of data privacy and the user resource has at least one associated unique IP address, a capacity of a point of deployment (POD) device is determined. If there is no indication of the level of data privacy and no unique IP address, the user resource is integrated into the first logical design. If the user resource utilizes a predefined percentage of the capacity, the user resource is integrated into a third logical design.

  • Publication number: 20090248651
Abstract: A computer readable storage medium comprises executable instructions to receive a query referencing a set of members of an OLAP hierarchy. The query is parsed into a syntax tree. Changes to the OLAP hierarchy metadata are received. The syntax tree is refined in response to the changes. The query is evaluated to return results that are independent of the changes to the OLAP hierarchy metadata.

  • Publication number: 20090216709
Abstract: A system and method are provided for updating database statistics for use in generating query execution plans. A first query for a database is received, for example by a compiler, and the compiler accesses statistics associated with the first query for optimizing a query execution plan for the first query. The statistics may be accessed from a first cache. If the statistics retrieved from the first cache are determined to be stale, the system obtains updated statistics and may store them in a temporary cache. The stale statistics in the first cache are marked as invalid. Existing queries using the first cache may continue to use the first cache, while new queries may be provided with updated statistics.

  • Patent number: 7578331
Abstract: A machine for precisely delivering and affixing solid media for the purpose of creating prototypes of varying size and precision. The device would, with great precision, deliver uniform shaped media, of any size, made of plastic, carbon fiber, metal or other solid or hollow materials to a position precisely determined by a computer. Adhesive will be applied to each piece of media and an adhesive accelerant will be applied to the position the media is to be placed so that when the media contacts the prior placed media with adhesive accelerant applied, it will adhere fast. In this manner multiple pieces of uniform media can be adhered in an ever increasing number precisely positioned as determined by computer software and the computer controlled apparatus. Objects and prototypical shapes can then be created by the combination and adhesion of all the media parts.

  • Publication number: 20090147928
Abstract: A system for handling special number calls placed from a calling instrument using a text messaging format includes: a plurality of message handling units configured in at least one communication network accessible by the calling instrument. At least one selected message handling unit of the plurality of message handling units operates to recognize an extant call placed from the calling instrument using a special number and expressed in the text messaging call format. The plurality of message handling units cooperates to effect querying the calling instrument to ascertain a substantially pinpoint geographic location of the calling instrument substantially contemporaneously with the extant call. The plurality of message handling units cooperates to use the geographic location for routing the extant call to at least one selected special number answering station coupled with the at least one communication network and situated generally proximate with the geographic location.

  • Publication number: 20080154887
Abstract: A method (50) of providing an Internet search results list in response to an Internet keywords search request is disclosed. The method (50) starts by receiving (60) a list of keywords, a list of web pages associated with the keywords in the list of keywords, and quality factors associated with keyword-web page combinations. The quality factors are determined from user activities in response to a site specific search request. An Internet keywords search request is next received (62). A listing of web pages associated with keywords in the Internet keywords search request is then retrieved (64). The web pages in the listing are ranked (66) based upon associated quality factors to produce a ranked listing. Finally, the ranked listing is provided (68) in response to the Internet keywords search request. A method (10) is disclosed of recording an association between web pages of a web site and keywords.

  • Publication number: 20080132197
Abstract: A system and method that tests emergency services location information and provides virtually instantaneous feed-back to a technician in the field, monitoring center or both. A location of a mobile communications device is determined by the technician via independent means and a call is placed to a special test number. When an element in the mobile network receives the call, it recognizes the special number and obtains location information regarding the mobile communications device by the means currently employed in the art for emergency services calls. The location information is delivered back to the calling mobile communications device, where it is compared to the previously-determined location. The two locations may then be stored on the mobile communications device, forwarded to a monitoring center or both.
