  • Publication number: 20150124998
Abstract: A method and audio signal processor for detecting feedback in an electrical amplification system divides a frequency spectrum into a plurality of frequency bands, classifies a tone present in an incoming audio signal into one of the plurality of frequency bands based on a frequency of the tone, selects a threshold value based on the frequency band into which the tone is classified, and disqualifies the tone from potentially being feedback if an amplitude of the tone is greater than an amplitude of a harmonic of the tone by less than the threshold value. The tone is deemed to be potentially feedback if the amplitude of the tone is greater than an amplitude of a plurality of harmonics of the tone by at least the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20150094699
Abstract: An optical surgical probe includes a handpiece having a metal cannula at a distal end, a light guide within the metal cannula that carries a light beam from a light source through the metal cannula, and a multi-spot generator formed within a distal opening of the metal cannula that seals the distal opening of the metal cannula. The multi-spot generator includes a proximally-facing faceted end surface spaced from a distal end of the light guide that includes at least one facet oblique to a path of the light beam and a ball lens located distal to the faceted end surface. A high-conductivity ferrule surrounds the distal end of the light guide, is in thermal contact with the metal cannula, and includes a side-shield portion extending beyond the distal end of the light guide. The ferrule shields the cannula from a portion of the light beam reflected by the faceted end surface.

  • Patent number: 8914979
Abstract: A system and method for assembling a 360-degree section of an aircraft fuselage or nacelle by properly positioning a plurality of assembly panels relative to a machine datum representing an assembly-level datum schema, drilling full-sized holes proximate to a second skin edge of the panels with the machine, net-trimming a second edge of the panels with the machine, then using the full-sized holes proximate to the second skin edges as alignment features to properly orient and attach pairs of the panels together proximate to first skin edges, opposite of the second skin edges with an auxiliary machine, forming panel pairs. Control systems may be installed into the panel pairs separately and independently, then the panel pairs may be joined together, aligning the full-sized holes proximate to the second edges, and inserting fasteners through the aligned full-sized holes proximate to the second skin edges.

  • Patent number: 8761718
Abstract: A system and method that tests emergency services location information and provides virtually instantaneous feed-back to a technician in the field, monitoring center or both. A location of a mobile communications device is determined by the technician via independent means and a call is placed to a special test number. When an element in the mobile network receives the call, it recognizes the special number and obtains location information regarding the mobile communications device by the means currently employed in the art for emergency services calls. The location information is delivered back to the calling mobile communications device, where it is compared to the previously-determined location. The two locations may then be stored on the mobile communications device, forwarded to a monitoring center or both.
