  • Publication number: 20160333608
Abstract: Existing small and medium-sized solenoid-operated locking containers are vulnerable to undesired impact-induced opening. An impact-resistant solenoid-operated locking container is disclosed. The container is protected against impact by the use of two solenoids oriented 180 degrees opposite each other. The solenoids are further protected against binding in a retracted position by T-shaped end caps, affixed to their retractable plungers, engaging notches cut into a movable plate. A silent, or nearly silent, impact-resistant solenoid, for use in an impact-protected locking container, is also disclosed, having the motion of its retractable plunger slowed and quieted by a viscous fluid such as damping grease.

  • Publication number: 20160267739
Abstract: A time-locking container to limit the compulsive overuse of objects and substances, such as but not limited to money, food, alcohol, and tobacco. The container locks until a future date and time of day set by the user. The unit displays the duration of locking, permits the user to cancel, and can require affirmative confirmation if locking exceeds a user-selected maximum duration. This feature prevents an accidental prolonged lockout. While the container is locked, the user can extend, but not shorten, the duration of locking. This feature permits the user, while experiencing guilt due to overindulgence, to further delay access without the temptation of an open door.

  • Patent number: 9418497
Abstract: A time-locking container to limit the compulsive overuse of objects and substances, such as but not limited to money, food, alcohol, and tobacco. The container locks until a future date and time of day set by the user. The container informs the user, before it locks, of the duration of locking. If the duration exceeds a user-selectable maximum, the container waits for user confirmation, otherwise it locks after a delay. This feature prevents an accidental prolonged lockout. While the container is locked, the user can extend, but not shorten, the duration of locking. The user can request early access to the contents, while the container is locked, subject to an unlocking delay before access is granted, a relocking delay after which access is denied, and an inhibit delay limiting the frequency of use of the early open feature. The device provides a programmable schedule, and can relock itself after a programmable delay.

  • Patent number: 9359913
Abstract: An inner shell assembly for a steam turbine includes an inner shell with a plurality of grooves of preset dimensions, and a plurality of nozzle carriers respectively securable in the plurality of grooves. Each of the nozzle carriers supports at least one nozzle and bucket for a turbine stage via a dovetail, where the inner shell, the plurality of nozzle carriers and the nozzles and buckets define a steam path. A radial position of the dovetails in the nozzle carriers within its corresponding grooves is selectable according to the steam path, and an axial width of each of the nozzle carriers is selectable according to the steam path.

  • Patent number: 9301620
Abstract: A hunting seat includes a base coupled to a tube structure. The base has a first surface and a second surface. A seat has attached pivotally thereto an adjustment tube having a plurality of adjustment holes disposed within. The seat has a seating surface configured to support a person and a seat underside surface opposite to the seating surface. In a substantially flat ground use, the base is disposed with the first surface facing the seat underside surface and the adjustment tube disposed within and pinned to a tube of the tube structure. In a sloped ground use, the base is disposed with the second surface facing the seat underside surface and the adjustment tube pinned in a pair of brackets pivotally mounted to a section of the base. A method of operating a hunting seat is also described.

  • Publication number: 20150164037
Abstract: A barrier component is disclosed for an animal stall, comprising a curved, elongated body member of elastomeric material such as rubber. This body member has first and second end sections each adapted for engagement within a respective hollow pipe. Together the two hollow pipes and the barrier component provide a stall divider when mounted on a suitable set of brackets, poles or supports at the head end of a stall. The component has a collar formation at each end which defines an annular recess for receiving a hollow pipe end and shielding the end of the pipe from the animal.

  • Publication number: 20150159497
Abstract: A steam turbine is provided. The steam turbine includes a housing and a steam inlet coupled in flow communication to the housing which is configured to discharge a first steam flow within the housing. A stator is coupled to the housing and includes plurality of vanes. A rotor is coupled to the housing and located within the stator, wherein the rotor and the stator are configured to form a first flow path there between and in flow communication with the first steam flow. The rotor includes a plurality of blades coupled to the rotor, at least one root of the plurality of blades has a first side, a second side and a passageway coupled in flow communication to the first side and the second side. The passageway is configured to define a second flow path in flow communication with the first flow path and to discharge a second steam flow within the at least one root.

  • Publication number: 20150089248
Abstract: Accessory device power management techniques are described in which a power exchange state for a system including a host computing device, an accessory device, and an adapter is recognized. Power exchange states may be defined according to relative states of charge (RSOC) and connection status for the system components and mapped to power management control actions. Responsive to the recognition of a current power exchange state, corresponding power management control actions may be ascertained and applied to jointly manage power for the system. For instance, the host device may draw supplemental power from a power source associated with an accessory device (e.g., a battery or power adapter) or supply power for use by the accessory device according to different states. Power exchanges may also be managed in accordance with capabilities of the accessory device identified based on authentication of the accessory device.
