Abstract: A method for generating a yield estimate for a crop of corn includes capturing a digital image of an ear of corn; processing the digital image of an ear of corn to determine a plurality of dimensions for each of a plurality of kernels on the ear of corn; estimating, from the plurality of dimensions, an average kernel volume for the ear of corn; determining, from the average kernel volume and an estimated kernel density, an average kernel weight for the ear of corn; and estimating, from the average kernel weight, a kernels-per-bushel for the ear of corn.

Abstract: The invention relates to selected carbohydrate-lipid constructs and their use as mimics of ligands for receptors expressed by a virus. In particular, the invention relates to the use of selected carbohydrate-lipid constructs in methods of inhibiting virus infection and/or promoting clearance of virus from infected subjects. Carbohydrate-lipid constructs selected for use in these methods where the virus is Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) are provided.

One or more application programming interfaces provide access to memory allocation and parameters thereof relating to zero or more cache eviction policies and/or zero or more virtual address modification policies associated with memory received via a memory allocation request. The provided application programming interfaces are usable by various software elements, such as any one or more of basic input/output system, driver, operating system, hypervisor, and application software elements. Memory allocated via the application programming interfaces is optionally managed via one or more heaps, such as one heap per unique combination of values for each of any one or more parameters including eviction policy, virtual address modification policy, structure-size, and element-size parameters.

Abstract: There is provided a method for deuterating an aromatic compound having aromatic hydrogens. The method includes the steps: (a) providing a liquid composition including deuterium oxide having dissolved or dispersed therein the aromatic compound and a transition metal catalyst; and (b) heating the liquid composition at a temperature of 120° C. or greater, and a pressure of 50 psi or greater, for a period of 24 hours or less, to form a deuterated aromatic compound.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are efficient mechanical fuse devices that are capable of functioning at high current levels. These devices comprise mechanical features configured such that the fuse devices have a non-triggered state, which allows current to flow through the device, and a triggered state, which does not allow current to flow through the device. In some embodiments, the devices are configured such that a certain pre-determined current level flowing through the device will generate a sufficient electromagnetic field to cause the mechanical elements to transition the fuse device into the triggered state and thus interrupt a connected electrical circuit, device or system. In some embodiments, these devices can also comprise hermetically sealed components.

Abstract: A running board of a vehicle is provided herein. The running board includes a step pad and a photoluminescent structure coupled to the step pad. The photoluminescent structure is configured to luminesce in response to excitation light provided by an external light assembly and the photoluminescent structure continues to luminesce for a period of time after the excitation light ceases to be provided.

Abstract: A method for determining chlorophyll content of a plant comprises capturing a first image comprising light transmitted through a leaf of a plant; capturing a second image comprising light reflected from the leaf of the plant; estimating, from a plurality of pixels in the first image, a transmissive chlorophyll concentration value of the leaf; estimating a reflectance chlorophyll concentration value for the leaf from a plurality of pixels in the second image using bidirectional reflectance parameters for which a variance of the reflectance chlorophyll concentration value across the plurality of pixels in the second image is reduced; and determining an estimated chlorophyll concentration value for the plant based at least on the transmissive chlorophyll concentration value and the reflectance chlorophyll concentration value.

In one example, a method includes processing a captured image of an ear of corn using a threshold value to create a segmented binary image comprising a first plurality of blobs, determining at least one characteristic of a plurality of corn kernels represented by the first plurality of blobs, and estimating a moisture value for the ear of corn based on the at least one characteristic of the plurality of corn kernels.
