  • Publication number: 20190198277
Abstract: Disclosed herein are passive triggering mechanisms for activation of pyrotechnic features within electrical switching devices, such as contactor devices and fuse devices. The activation of the pyrotechnic features is configured to change the configuration of the internal components of the switching device and prevent current flow through the device. In some embodiments, the triggering mechanisms comprise features that respond to a magnetic field, such as a reed switch. In some embodiments, threshold strength of a magnetic field needed to trigger the passive triggering mechanism, which corresponds to a threshold level of current running through the switching devices indicating a dangerous overcurrent, can be adjusted based upon the distance between the passive triggering mechanism and a portion of the device such as a power terminal or feature connected to a power terminal.

  • Patent number: 10317324
Abstract: A specimen testing system has holders that hold a specimen for testing. The holders brace the specimen so that a load may be applied. A load applicator applies a load to the specimen at a location that is between the holders bracing the specimen. A user may adjust the load applicator until it applies the desired load to the specimen. If desired, a user may apply rotation to a specimen while it is experiencing a load by using a specimen rotation system. The user may continue to adjust the load applied to the specimen or continue to rotate the specimen during loading until the specimen fails.

  • Publication number: 20190136475
Abstract: This Apparatus to stop damage from Frozen Ground and expanding Ice is to be used to protect property that could be damage from ground and water when it freezes. As ground and water freezes it expands, and when it thaws and refreezes it expands more this causes damage to property. On ground that freezes it expands with great force that can crush rock, this force will lift, crack, brake, crush, and push in walls. Likewise when water freezes it expands and causes great damage, this can be seen around lakes that people have landscaped and in the spring they have to fix it or redo it all over. This invention is used to stop damage from frozen ground and ice by creating a brake line in the frozen ground and ice causing a week spot and redirecting the energy instead of pushing in a straight line this invention will cause the energy upward where the expanding ground or ice would pile up, and stops the expanding energy from damaging property.

  • Publication number: 20190115308
Abstract: Distributions of on-chip inductors for monolithic voltage regulation are described. On-chip voltage regulation may be provided by integrated voltage regulators (IVRs), such as a buck converter with integrated inductors. On-chip inductors may be placed to ensure optimal voltage regulation for high power density applications. With this technology, integrated circuits may have many independent voltage domains for fine-grained dynamic voltage and frequency scaling that allows for higher overall power efficiency for the system.

  • Patent number: 10216632
Abstract: A memory system implements a plurality of cache eviction policies and optionally a plurality of virtual address modification policies. A cache storage unit of the memory system has a plurality of cache storage sub-units. The cache storage unit is optionally managed by a cache management unit in accordance with the cache eviction polices. The cache storage sub-units are allocated for retention of information associated with respective memory addresses and are associated with the cache eviction policies in accordance with the respective memory addresses. For example, in response to a reference to an address that misses in a cache, the address is used to access a page table entry having an indicator specifying an eviction policy to use when selecting a cache line from the cache to evict in association with allocating a cache line of the cache to retain data obtained via the address.

  • Publication number: 20180350540
Abstract: Disclosed herein are contactor devices, for example, devices that can be utilized as switching elements, comprising fixed contacts that are electrically isolated from one another and one or more moveable contacts that are configured to electrically contact the fixed contacts to provide an electrical connection between them. Movement of the fixed contacts into and out of electrical contact with the fixed contacts controls flow of electricity through the devices. The contactor devices also include pyrotechnic disconnect elements, which function as a circuit break or fuse-like element to protect against overcurrent. When the electrical current through the contactor device reaches a threshold level, a pyrotechnic charge activates, permanently forcing the moveable contacts out of electrical contact with the fixed contacts.
