  • Publication number: 20120145394
Abstract: A rotatable downhole cutting tool configured for enhanced drive consistency in low power circumstances. The tool is equipped with a hydraulic axial drive actuator suitable for use in wireline deployment. The actuator itself includes a reciprocating piston with a ball screw that threadably interfaces a ball nut for dampening the axial drive imparted by the piston. As such, even though hydraulically driven at generally well under about 10 horsepower, bounce in the axial drive is substantially eliminated. This is particularly advantageous where cutting is to be applied to downhole metal based obstructions.

  • Publication number: 20110223129
Abstract: The present invention relates to chimeric transmembrane immunoreceptors, named “zetakines,” comprised of an extracellular domain comprising a soluble receptor ligand linked to a support region capable of tethering the extracellular domain to a cell surface, a transmembrane region and an intracellular signalling domain. Zetakines, when expressed on the surface of T lymphocytes, direct T cell activity to those specific cells expressing a receptor for which the soluble receptor ligand is specific. Zetakine chimeric immunoreceptors represent a novel extension of antibody-based immunoreceptors for redirecting the antigen specificity of T cells, with application to treatment of a variety of cancers, particularly via the autocrin/paracrine cytokine systems utilized by human maligancy.

  • Publication number: 20090191172
Abstract: The present invention is directed to mammalian bi-specific T cells and methods for using these bi-specific T cells. More specifically, the invention relates to a method of controlling administration of cancer antigen to a subject by providing bi-specific T cells that express a viral antigen T cell receptor and a cancer antigen-specific chimeric receptors and triggering their activation by also administering antigen-presenting T-cells which express viral antigen. These bi-specific T cell clones are a source of effector cells that persist in vivo in response to stimulation with viral antigen, leading to long-term function after their transfer to patients with cancer and autoimmune diseases.

  • Patent number: 7530195
Abstract: An electrically powered rodent trap which includes a surveillance system for remote surveillance of the trap so that the trap may be operated without being attended to. A rodent which enters into the trap is killed by means of electrocution electrodes. The dead rodent is automatically dispatched from the trap, e.g. by a trapdoor, into a container or reservoir beneath the trap. The number of electrocutions and possible other data is stored by an electronic system incorporated in the trap and a signal is sent out, either by request from an external unit, or automatically to an external unit. A city rodent exterminator is capable of monitoring the status of the trap from an office location and thereby effectively tend to the trap or to a series of traps.

  • Publication number: 20090048436
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of synthesizing phosphoramidite linkers that are useful for the production of synthesizing two or more oligonucleotides in tandem. The inventive linker has the following desirable properties: (i) enhanced stability to alkali conditions versus the linkers previously published, (ii) cleaves to produce 5? and 3? ends that are fully biologically compatible, (iii) cleaves completely under conditions that are already used in cleavage/deprotection processes so it is fully compatible with conditions that are common in laboratories and does not require additives that necessitate further purification after cleavage, (iv) integrates easily onto commercially available synthesizers because it is compatible with standard coupling chemistry, and (v) is compatible with DNA, RNA, forward, reverse, and LNA, synthesis chemistries. In addition, the inventive linkers may be coupled to a solid support. Thus, the inventive linkers provide a significant advancement in the state of the art.
