  • Patent number: 10493358
Abstract: A card shuffler or other card handling apparatus defines a card receiving and/or dispensing area that accepts cards of multiple sizes. In one embodiment, structural elements such as sidewalls and an end-wall cause the card receiving/dispensing area to have a first size for accommodating cards of a first size. One or more spacers may be removably located in the card receiving/dispensing area, thus causing the card receiving/dispensing area to reduce the effective size of the receiving/dispensing area, such as to reduce its width, so as to accept or accommodate cards of a second size which is smaller than the first size.

  • Publication number: 20180360439
Abstract: Described herein are methods and apparatus for approximating targeted tissue by intertwining two or more sutures together. The sutures are attached to the targeted tissue and routed to a twister device. The twister device secures end portions of the sutures and twists them to intertwine the sutures. Controlling the number of twists provides control over the forces applied to the targeted tissue. In conjunction with visualization feedback, real-time adjustments can be made to achieved targeted results, such as elimination of mitral regurgitation when the disclosed methods and apparatus are applied to mitral valve repair.

  • Publication number: 20180289480
Abstract: Described herein are devices and methods for mitral valve repair. The devices and methods implant a plurality of distal anchors at an annulus of the mitral valve (e.g., the posterior annulus) and tension artificial chordae to pull the portion of the annulus toward an opposite edge and inward into the ventricle. This can effectively reduce the size of the orifice and increase coaptation. The anchor points of the artificial chordae can be offset from the apex of the heart to achieve a targeted force vector on the annulus. In addition, some embodiments include distal anchors implanted in the posterior leaflet in addition to those at the posterior annulus. This allows differential tensioning to be applied to provide for greater flexibility in treating various configurations of mitral valves to improve coaptation.

  • Publication number: 20180281307
Abstract: What is disclosed is an object holder for retaining an object in a direct-to-object print system and a direct-to-object print system configured to use various embodiments of the object holder of the present invention. In one embodiment, the object holder comprises a shuttle mount configured to slideably traverse a support member positioned parallel to a plane formed by at least one printhead configured to eject marking material on to a surface of an object. A plurality of threads, at least partially comprising a flexible synthetic elastomer, are connected to the shuttle mount. The threads are joined together to form an elastic netting which can be manually expanded around the object to retain the object to the shuttle mount while the object is being printed in the direct-to-object print system.

  • Patent number: 10005302
Abstract: What is disclosed is an object holder for retaining an object while it is being printed in a direct-to-object print system and a direct-to-object print system configured to use various embodiments of the object holder of the present invention. In one embodiment, the object holder comprises a base plate configured to slideably traverse a support member positioned parallel to a plane formed by at least one printhead configured to eject marking material on to a surface of an object. A shaft passes through the base plate. A back support is fixed to an end of the base plate. A side plate is slideably attached to the base plate. The back support and side plate collectively provide support to the shaft. A suction cup is connected to one end of the shaft for holding an object to the shaft while the object is being moved.

  • Publication number: 20180130639
Abstract: Methods and systems for generating a plasma using an external plasma system are described. The plasma system may include an energy coupling device (e.g., an electromagnetic coil or capacitor) that is submersed within a liquid coolant and powered by an RF source. In some embodiments, a C-shaped magnetic core may be submersed within the liquid coolant and one or more plasma tubes may be arranged within an opening of the C-shaped magnetic core between the ends of the C-shaped magnetic core. To generate a plasma in a first tube of the one or more plasma tubes, a gas may be inserted into the first tube while the RF source drives a coil surrounding a portion of the C-shaped magnetic core to couple electromagnetic energy into the gas within the first tube.

  • Patent number: 9762588
Abstract: When a request to connect a requesting user to a target user is received by the social networking system, information associated with the requesting user and with users connected to the target user is retrieved. A fraud probability score indicating a probability that the requesting user is impersonating a user connected to the target user is determined based on the information associated with the requesting user and with users connected to the target user. Based on the fraud probability score, a determination is made whether the requesting user is a suspected imposter and remedial action is taken if imposter is suspected.

  • Patent number: 9690863
Abstract: A social networking system receives contact information from a social networking system user. The received contact information is stored and associated with a user profile in the social networking system including information matching at least a portion of the stored content information. This increases the information associated with the user profile. Subsequently received content information is compared to user profiles and stored contact information associated with one or more user profiles. User profiles including information matching at least a portion of the subsequently received content information or associated with stored contact information matching at least a portion of the subsequently received content information are identified as potential connections for the user providing the subsequently received contact information.
