  • Publication number: 20060139741
Abstract: An optical amplifier and a laser generator based on the fiber side-polished technology, having a high pumping efficiency, a low noise figure and a small footprint are provided in this application. The optical amplifier and the laser, which have a very long effective interaction length in conjunction with highly doped Erbium glass attached to its surface and an addition of a slanted fiber grating inscribed in the guiding core at the polished region can spatially separate the signal and pump power to simultaneously improve the pumping efficiency and optimize the penetrated depth of the signal evanescent-field. The spontaneous emission is kept from being amplified and therefore a high quality amplified signal is produced.

  • Publication number: 20060109375
Abstract: An all-directional camera viewfinder angle adjusting mechanism is proposed, which is designed for use in conjunction with a photographic device for the purpose of allowing the user to arbitrarily adjust the viewfinder angle of the photographic device to any directions within 360° full-angle range both horizontally and vertically so as to aim the photographic device precisely at the target object that is to be photographed. Compared to prior art, the proposed all-directional camera viewfinder angle adjusting mechanism allows the user to precisely adjust the viewfinder angle of a Web camera to any desired directions so that there will be no dead spots in the scene that is to be photographed, and is therefore more advantageous to use than prior art.

  • Publication number: 20060090647
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for catching particles having diameters size down to the nanometer level including a first step of increasing particle diameters of particles contained in an outlet gas from a fabrication process of nano-particles or an exhaust from a combustion; and a second step of introducing the resulting effluent from the first step into a rotating packed bed. The first step involves contacting the gas/exhaust with droplets or water vapor, creating collision of the nano-particles with the droplets or condensation of water vapor using the nano-particles as condensation nuclei, so that the size of the nano-particles increases to the micro level. The second step uses the minute water drops generated from and the hindrance of the rotating packed bed to catch the micro-particles in the gas/exhaust under a relatively high centrifugal force.

  • Publication number: 20060082541
Abstract: An input detection device contains a button set having a plurality of buttons utilized for inputting commands, each button outputting a unique voltage level when the button is activated. The input detection device also contains a voltage generating circuit for outputting a plurality of generated voltage levels corresponding to the unique voltage levels outputted by each of the buttons in the button set, and a comparator for comparing each of the generated voltage levels outputted from the voltage generating circuit with the voltage outputted from the button set. A control circuit controls the voltage generating circuit to alternately output each of the generated voltage levels, records the generated voltage level that is approximately equal to the voltage outputted from the button set, and determines which button in the button set was activated based on the recorded generated voltage level.

  • Patent number: 7009847
Abstract: A connector concealment mechanism for computer peripheral device is proposed, which is designed for use in conjunction with a computer peripheral device equipped with an external connector for the connector to be concealable into the casing of the computer peripheral device when not in use, and be easily ejected out of the computer casing for use to connect the computer peripheral device to a computer unit. This feature allows the computer peripheral device to be more advantageous to use than the prior art due to the fact that it allows the user to conceal the connector into the casing of the computer peripheral device when not in use, without having using a separable cap which would easily get lost as in the case of the prior art, thus making the use of the computer peripheral device more convenient and trouble-free than prior art.

  • Patent number: 6994481
Abstract: A manufacturing apparatus and method of a fiber coupler is provided. A movable electric arc is employed to fuse more than two stacked fibers for manufacturing a fiber coupler having a small size and good environment stability. It is advantageous that the fiber coupler can be used in a SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) communication system, and the method also be used to manufacture the all-fiber CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) multiplexer which covers the E-band wavelengths and the sub-components of the OADM (Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer). And, all these functions are difficult to be achieved by the conventional techniques.

  • Patent number: 6884401
Abstract: A high viscosity liquid is fed into a rotation pack bed at a position with a distance far enough from a rotation axis, creating a centrifugal force exerted on the high viscosity liquid overwhelming a drag thereof, so that it can flow radially through the rotation pack bed. A high pressure gas is introduced into the rotation pack bed peripherally and/or a suction force source is connected to a position near the rotation axis, so that a volatile component contained in the high viscosity fluid is entrained in the gas counter currently flowing through the rotation pack bed and withdrawn from the position near the rotation axis, or the volatile component exits from the position near the rotation axis in gas phase, and thus the volatile component is removed from the high viscosity liquid. A second fluid can also be fed into the rotation pack bed to react with the high viscosity liquid, so that a reaction product is formed, and a volatile side product is removed at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20040218054
Abstract: The invention provides a mode switching method in a digital image acquisition apparatus with a first button for taking pictures and a second button for mode switching. Snapshot modes and a viewing mode are provided. A snapshot parameter is for recording whether the apparatus is currently used for taking pictures. Each time when the apparatus is used for taking pictures via the first button, the snapshot parameter is recorded as a snapshot status. A mode parameter is for recording which mode the apparatus is currently situated. Each time when the apparatus is used for mode switching via the second button, the mode parameter is recorded as a corresponding mode status. When the apparatus performs mode switching via the second button, if the snapshot parameter is at the same time recorded as the snapshot status, the apparatus is switched directly to the viewing mode in irrespective to its original snapshot mode.
