  • Patent number: 8738624
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for increasing distributed database capacity by adding new nodes while minimizing downtime. A database is partitioned among multiple nodes in a cluster. Each node stores a respective portion of the database. The portions of the database are replicated to corresponding physical standbys. For each portion, a first portion is mapped to an existing node, while a remaining portion is mapped to a physical standby. The cluster is updated to include the physical standbys as additional nodes among which the database is partitioned.

  • Patent number: 8732041
Abstract: Systems and methods for deciding whether to void a payment are provided. The method includes sending a signal to a web service provider to request information as to whether a payment has been reconciled, and receiving a first response from the web service provider. If the first response from the web service provider indicates that the payment has not been reconciled: performing a void process to void the payment, committing data related to the void process to an interface table, and receiving a second response from the web service provider. The second response includes status information of the payment replicated from a second interface table associated with the web service provider to the interface table. If the first response from the web service provider indicates that the payment has already been reconciled, deciding not to perform the void process.

  • Publication number: 20130334469
Abstract: The present invention discloses an Al—Sb—Te phase change material used for PCM and fabrication method thereof. Said phase change material, which can be prepared by PVD, CVD, ALD, PLD, EBE, and ED, is a mixture of three elements aluminum (Al), antimony (Sb) and tellurium (Te) with a general formula of Alx(SbyTe1)1-x, where 0<x?0.85, 0.67?y?7. Said material is electrically driven from outside. By adjusting the content of three elements in the mixture, storage materials with different crystallization temperatures, melting temperatures and activation energies of crystallization can be achieved. Any two elements of aluminum, antimony and tellurium can be bonded to each other, so the adjustability is very high, maintaining the phase change properties in a wide range.

  • Publication number: 20130224858
Abstract: The present invention provides adipose-derived stem cells and lattices. In one aspect, the present invention provides a lipo-derived stem cell substantially free of adipocytes and red blood cells and clonal populations of connective tissue stem cells. The cells can be employed, alone or within biologically-compatible compositions, to generate differentiated tissues and structures, both in vivo and in vitro. Additionally, the cells can be expanded and cultured to produce hormones and to provide conditioned culture media for supporting the growth and expansion of other cell populations. In another aspect, the present invention provides a lipo-derived lattice substantially devoid of cells, which includes extracellular matrix material from adipose tissue. The lattice can be used as a substrate to facilitate the growth and differentiation of cells, whether in vivo or in vitro, into anlagen or even mature tissues or structures.

  • Publication number: 20130217118
Abstract: The present invention provides adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs), adipose-derived stem cell-enriched fractions (ADSC-EF) and adipose-derived lattices, alone and combined with the ADSCs of the invention. In one aspect, the present invention provides an ADSC substantially free of adipocytes and red blood cells and clonal populations of connective tissue stem cells. The ADSCs can be employed, alone or within biologically-compatible compositions, to generate differentiated tissues and structures, both in vivo and in vitro. Additionally, the ADSCs can be expanded and cultured to produce molecules such as hormones, and to provide conditioned culture media for supporting the growth and expansion of other cell populations. In another aspect, the present invention provides a adipose-derived lattice substantially devoid of cells, which includes extracellular matrix material from adipose tissue.

  • Patent number: 8443103
Abstract: A routing system utilizes a layer 2 switch interconnecting several routers to intelligently forward multicast packets throughout an internet exchange carrying multicast content. The layer 2 switch performs protocol snooping to extract a lookup key that is based on network layer protocol information. The lookup key is uniquely formulated to support either shared or explicit source distribution trees. The lookup key is used to query a forwarding memory that returns an outgoing port index. The outgoing port index points to one or more outgoing ports that are eligible to receive the multicast packet. The outgoing ports are also connected to the neighboring device(s) that are designated to receive the multicast packet. The routing system also supports real time maintenance and updating of the forwarding memory based on the periodic exchange of control messages. The routing system is configured to support PIM routers operating in PIM SM or PIM SSM modes.

  • Patent number: 8429162
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for facilitating data redistribution in database sharding. A database is maintained that is horizontally partitioned into a set of first buckets using modulo-based assignments. A fixed number of the first buckets are stored in each of multiple physical data stores. The database is repartitioned into a set of second buckets using modulo-based assignments. The number of second buckets in the set is a multiple of the sum of a positive integer and the quantity of the physical data stores. The data in the database is unmoved between the physical data stores by repartitioning.

  • Publication number: 20130094350
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for semi-centralized routing. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method receives a network protocol packet at a router adapted for routing data packets to one or more additional routers. The network protocol packet conforms to a routing protocol that provides distributed routing computation. The method also sends the network protocol packet, through a controller, to a selected one of a plurality of route control servers. The method also processes the network control packet at the selected route control server to generate a routing computation result that conforms to the routing protocol. The method also generates routing information based on the routing computation. The routing information conforms to a control protocol that provides centralized routing computation. The method also sends the routing information to the router for routing of data packets based on the control protocol.

  • Patent number: 8346833
Abstract: A filter and method of filtering modifies the computation order to accommodate horizontal symmetric filtering, and modifies the source operands while modifying the single instruction multiple data (SIMD) computation, so as to eliminate such heavy overhead of transposing a pixel matrix. The filter and method of filtering reformats the equations involved in the prior art to the following equations, thereby acquiring the interpolation results by reducing the required clock cycles to three cycles: acc=a0*(|p0+p5|p1+p6|p2+p7|p3+p8|) acc=a1*(|p1+p4|p2+p5|p3+p6|p4+p7|)+acc acc=a2*(|P2+P3|P3+P4|P4+P5|P5+P6|)+acc.
