  • Patent number: 8847762
Abstract: A tag having a magnetic clamp for use in securing an item in order to prevent the unauthorized removal of the item from, for example, a retail store. The magnetic tag includes an attachment element that secures the item to the tag. A clamp having a locking region secures the attachment element such that the item cannot be separated from the tag. A keyed magnetic element on the clamp includes one or more hard magnets, where each hard magnet has either an outward-facing north or south polarity. By applying a magnetic force to the magnets, the locking region moves away from the attachment element thus allowing the item to be removed from the tag. The arrangement of magnets operates as a “key” and only a detacher unit with an identical magnetic pattern can apply the requisite magnetic force to the magnets to disengage the clamp from the attachment element to allow removal of the tag from the item.

  • Publication number: 20140010965
Abstract: Methods for enhancing the deicing properties of a cementitious substrate using a polymer-based coating are provided. Coating formulations and coated cementitious surfaces are also provided. The methods comprise applying an aqueous emulsion to a surface of the cementitious substrate and allowing the aqueous emulsion to dry, such that a continuous, fluorine-containing, polymeric coating is formed over the surface of the cementitious substrate. When applied to a cementitious surface, the coating penetrates into the underlying cementitious substrate and bonds with the substrate to provide the cementitious surface with hydrophobic and other properties that improve the deicing properties of the surface.

  • Patent number: 8431466
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a semiconductor device structure, such as a FinFET device structure, is provided. The method begins by providing a substrate comprising a bulk semiconductor material, a first conductive fin structure formed from the bulk semiconductor material, and a second conductive fin structure formed from the bulk semiconductor material. The first conductive fin structure and the second conductive fin structure are separated by a gap. Next, spacers are formed in the gap and adjacent to the first conductive fin structure and the second conductive fin structure. Thereafter, an etching step etches the bulk semiconductor material, using the spacers as an etch mask, to form an isolation trench in the bulk semiconductor material. A dielectric material is formed in the isolation trench, over the spacers, over the first conductive fin structure, and over the second conductive fin structure.
